Currently it takes about 5 or 6 steps to set the volume level from 0 to max via hardware buttons (hands free buttons). If you try to control it via touch, you can actually set it very precise...
I wonder now if you can make the hardware buttons to change the volume level using smaller steps so that you can adjust it almost as precise as with the touch control...
Any registry tweak? Any idea?
STYLUS!!

Well...with the stylus you can control your volume even more precise, you just have to tap the screen with the stylus and drag your volume to where you want it to go....it's a little bit more precise than the hardware buttons...to be honest...i don't know if there's any software or so ???
good luck!
EDIT: I noticed that you already mentioned the method above, which I told you...sorry....sorry...sorry....

Anyone out there?
Or are we the only ones left alive?
there are files in windows dir.
hello, just wanted to post that there are files in windows folder named volym_20 volym_40 volym_60 and so on, is it possible that they got something to do with it?
Someone figure this out!!
Does anyone have a clue how to do it?
I love my Xperia. I installed the haptic feedback for the touch screen (which really helps alot) but to make my Xperia 100% it would be great if someone could tell me what I need to change in the registry to my make each key on my keyboard vibrate when I press it since the keys dont move much when pressed and therefore I always need to check whether what I pressed shows up.
I know there was a registry entry that could be done for the MDA Vario years back but i cant find that thread anymore.
Someone... please let me know how or a small app would be even better. Thanks everyone!

How you do that? I mean to install haptic feedback on xperia?
if you install "fingerboard 2.0" you get haptic feedback. much better keyboard than the standard one too...
Haptic feedback on our xperias keyboard is quite a good idea i look forward to seeing the outcome of this thread
I don't mean to sound negative, as different people have different requirements...
But, the whole point of haptic feedback with on screen keyboards is to create the illusion of a normal hardware keyboard which by default gives feedback when a key is pressed.
Why someone would want haptic feedback on haptic feedback is beyond me.
Haptic keyboard
What I mean is, when using the physical keyboard (the actual keys not the touch screen keyboard) I would like a small vibration with each key pressed. That is clear enough to understand i think

NO Lolz.
This is not haptic. This is vibrating hardware keyboard. Haptic is when the whole phone vibrates if you press the ON-SCREEN keyboard.

Haptic (wrt phone/pda) is just a word for the response given when something is pressed, regardless of what it is. He's perfectly right calling it a haptic keyboard. "Haptic" is not a word that's limited to describing keyboard/touch/stylus responses on a touchscreen (that said a keyboard is haptic by it's very nature, as the keys click, but it's pretty obvois what he's asking for, and while not to everyone's tastes, not the worst idea I've heard in a long time).
Vibrating keyboard
well, instead of writing back and forth about the name, does anyone have an idea how this can be done, the vibrating of the hardware keyboard when each letter is pressed = haptic feedback? THANKS!

Generally, yes. In the borders of his question, no.
The fact is out X1 keyboards they offer very little feedback from the buttons aka not a big CLICK as such.
And sometimes with people having multiple presses of the key problems etc im sure vibration when typing on keyboard feature can help this
you dudes know about a program that can make a click sound when pressing HW button like fingerkeyboard ? that would also be nice
^^ use built-in software, go to sounds and notifications and check hardware buttons (either select soft or loud) in the sounds tab

omggggggg thx
Does anyone have a tip on how to have the hardware keys vibrate when being pressed? Thanks!
Anyone have any suggestons? Amazing how some people are quick to point out proper terminology and write again and again regarding haptic or not haptic but no one is able to come up with a suggestion to the actual question
like some1 allready stated, "finger keyboard" ?
best touchkeyboard imo anyway
I have make small app, which switching off screen.
Instant, without any waits or faking switching off by set brightness to zero.
It's simulate pressing of power button.
Maybe this one will be interest for somebody
root needed
Nice! I'd be more interested if you could do unlock via soft keys as we had in Hero , i.e. home and menu, as I find the power button is too recessed for easy access.
Not sure if softkeys would be too easy to trigger by mistake tho ??

There is a hack for this but the menu key etc on the hd are not active when the screen is locked so it doesn't work. I did it today but you have to press power then the keys become active and you can use menu etc to unlock. Pointless as you still need to use power button first. The hero's keys were hard buttons as is the desire. It worked great on the desire. Unless anyone knows a way to have them active while locked? My power buttons a nightmare as it's not very clicky and really recessed. My wife's hd power button is much easier to use. Anyone know a way to have the soft keys active all the time?

Thanks for this app, i was waiting for.
Power button isn't as practical as your app to power down the phone.
Thank you mate.
Very Nice.... I like it.
But can you please Chance the Icon for me?
Im not able to do this myself.
I would like something like that.
Back and white with a bit gray or shaded would be very nice

In technical terms,yes- it would circumvent the process of having to use one's digit to find aforementioned hard power button and then depress said button.

Lol, maybe I didn't want the technical version after all. Dumb it down so I can understand. I'm have it installed but I don't see it doing anything. I have an Evo. How does this work (explain normal).
r0cky.Da.3v0.SU.
Its just a app to lock the phone and turn the screen off. Not sure if it works on evo
Ok thanks buddy, Uninstalling.
r0cky.Da.3v0.SU.
Dunno if this is doable but have you seen the screen lock on the new nexus that was seen at recent web 2.0 summit. Its kinda like the effect you get when u turn off an old crt TV. Could you implement that instead of the current fade effect? Ta
here i send you the perfect icon for me.
I hope you can do this. This would be very great.
Can you make the white corners transparent?
If you cant please make it black...
Im looking forward to you work

Thank you exidler for this useful app. I am just wondering if you can make use of the accelerometer sensor to turn off the screen ( for example by putting the phone upside down) . Thanks again.

i also agree ! that would be a perfect app and since most people do not check their sms upside down it would also be extremely practical
+1

Hello guys !
I've seen on screen buttons developed for other devices and I was curious if someone can port it to i9001. I want on screen keys because the capacitive buttons vibrate in the worst mode possible and yet, I can't control their haptic feedback.
Thanks !

Hi all.
Currently running CM13 Unofficial on my Mi5.
It appears as though my hardware home button on my Mi5 has failed... Hard press does nothing....
This started on my previous ROM 16/09/2016, and continues on my new ROM 22/09/2016.
I strongly suspect this is a hardware issue rather than a software issue...
My question for you guys is how do I reassign buttons? Is it possible to make the right capacitive (currently app switcher) the home button?
Also, my preferred button to use as a home button would be the soft capacitive touch on the fingerprint scanner on the home button so i can retain my app switcher button....
Any help guys is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
When Xiaomi releases Kernel Source there will be an option for non physical home button. On rr you can reassign more options to your buttons. Cm does not work on my device.

If your home button is broken, then maybe you should enable 'on screen' (software) buttons from Buttons submenu in Settings?
Capacitive touch is not going to work on prebuilt kernel (every ROM so far, wait for CM's big update).

Have done so. Cheers for the suggestion.. I didn't know this option existed!
As for the capacitive buttons not working, I've seen this mentioned a number of times... My capacitive buttons have always worked since flashing CM?

Yeah, fingerprint to unlock and such.. What about touching (not pressing) home button to return to the launcher? That's what everybody wants to have (and waits for proper kernel)
