Here's the AT&T Visual Voicemail apk that can be installed on the Nexus 4 and that works with 4.2.x
Requirements:
You need to have the VVM feature on your AT&T account. It might require that you are on an LTE plan with a supported phone.
You need to use the 'phone' or 'pta' APN.
Thanks, Its working very nice
Hey guys do you have any suggestions on setting this up? All I ever get is a verification can't be received error.
I think you need to have VVM enabled on your account. Give AT&T a call and tell them to add it if you don't already have it, it's free without the transcript feature.
Do you have to have LTE for the visual voicemail cause it doesn't show as an option on our account.

Not sure. I do have an LTE plan though the N4 doesn't need it. Just give AT&T a call and they'll be able to tell you if they can add it.

Thanks sirxdroid! I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the apk. However I couldn't get vvm added to my account and the service rep said there was no option to add it. Tried to just set up through the app and that failed too. My question is since you have an lte plan, do you have your phone as the N4 or another phone?

I moved the SIM card from an LTE phone to the N4 and I didn't update my account to put the N4 on it. But I read in other threads that you can ask AT&T to put you on an LTE plan and they should be able to do it, you may have to try a few times until you find someone competent to do it.

I'm not to worried about being on an lte plan, I asked that to figure out how you got vvm. Since your account probably has an att phone that can be provisioned for vvm you can use it. Now if the rumors are true about KLP being delayed I'll root my phone and use the Imei off of the S3 that I got off the store model, switch to the lte plan since I'm in one of the few markets that supports band 4, and get vvm too(as long as the s3 supports it).

That's how it's done if AT&T can't simply put you on an LTE plan.
Thanks for this! I have used this app for years on ATT and could not get previous versions to work! Just installed on my Nexus 4 and it works like a champ!
My other phone is a Note 2 on ATT which is an LTE plan. I swap the SIM back and forth. I used this app on my Note 2 and was trying to use it on my N4 but it did not work before until I saw this today and installed it and it works fine.

The N4 is available directly from the Playstore unlocked. No subsidizing. You pay full price.
Great work, thanks! This is working very nicely. I missed having it on my Galaxy Note. I did have to change my APN to the LTE APN for the setup to work (the 'pta' APN instead of the 'wap.cingular' one). I'm using an LTE SIM from my Galaxy Note.

'phone' APN works too, it's also an LTE APN. All new phones from AT&T come configured with the 'phone' APN.
Added apk version 2.3.32 to the original post. Enjoy.
The app recently updated to 2.3.33... Would it be possible to see this version?

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

He does not need an AT&T modem flashed on his device. That would most likely result in a brick.
OP: Try dialing *#2263# and make sure automatic is selected. Also go into setting, mobile networks and set it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA

I tried to do LTE only and it has the right network code, but it won't activate. I checked my ATT online profile and it doesn't have a "LTE" data plan and I think that is the problem. I'll try again tomorrow once it takes effect and report back

Ok you need to give ATT the IMEI number from one of their LTE android devices. Just go to the store to get one from one of the demo devices. Then your account will be provisioned for LTE.

The guy above is correct, you need at&t to register your imei into their network to access their LTE.... They should do it for you no problem, just give them a call....however I wouldn't be surprised if they don't! Another way is to find someone with an extra LTE phone and just activate that imei and your LTE should pop up

If he registers his T-Mobile S5 on AT&T he will still have problems. AT&T won't recognize the T-Mobile IMEI number, and therefore it will list as a GSM device.
He needs to find an IMEI number of one of AT&T's LTE android devices. Once he has called AT&T CS and have had them provision his account for LTE, then he can just pop in his AT&T sim card to his T-Mobile S5. He'll get LTE then.

Just wondering where did you unlock the phone from and how long did it take to get the unlock code?
Thanks for everyone's help. I am good to go.
I took a SIM from another LTE device. I think it does need to be registered as a IMEI from an ATT device and that was the problem.

Now that you are getting AT&T LTE on the T-Mobile variant, can you please comment on LTE signal strength? This is a deal breaker for me. When I had the TMO Note 3 on AT&T, LTE reception sucked. If you can compare it with an AT&T branded phone, that would be great.
Another person using the G900T. Congrats
My experience is that coverage is just as good if not better. Same radio, same antenna, I wouldn't expect it to be any different?
The TMO GS5 has all the needed ATT LTE Bands no need for a radio flash, I'm using one on ATT now, have gotten LTE from day 1, as stated only requirement is the sim has to be originally activated on a LTE ATT device and that the APN is set properly.
What kind of speed is everyone getting with the tmo s5 on att network? I have an att s5 next to a tmo s5 and att s5 is getting 50mbps vs tmo at 20mbps. I am wondering if I needed to configure something on the tmo devices?

Check your APN setting. The T-Mobile S5 should have the same exact APN settings your S5 has. Can you also comment on LTE reception on the T-Mobile S5 using AT&t?

APN is exactly the same as AT&T one. Reception is also same as AT&T one but the speed is a show stopper if it's half the speed. Any one have any ideas?

I would also like to do this, but I just want to clarify something. I just bought an AT&T S5. Brand new, unopened, still in the box. I want to swap it for a T-Mobile S5, as the bootloader is unlocked. If I keep the AT&T SIM card before I sell it, and put it into the new Tmo S5, will I have any foreseeable issues? Will it work just like that, or will I need to retrieve something from my S5 before I swap it?
Thanks.
EDIT: I should clarify that the device is unactivated, and when I do activate it, I will be porting my existing number from Verizon.
Hello,
So I just switched from ATT to Tmobile and now using the Tmobile service. After I put in the tmobile simcard into my unlocked N900A, I got everything from good service to 4gLTE. Now I want wifi calling feature on my N900A, So I rooted the device with towel root and installed SS (of course after SU and BUSYBOX). After I backed up my stock rom, in rom slot 1 I installed tweaked N3 3.8 but the wifi calling toggle got stuck on "enabling". I thought may be something was wrong with the flash so I flashed the tweaked N3 3.9 but it gave the same result. So I thought let me try another Tmobile rom on my ATT note 3 so I flashed the "Effortless ROM" from the tmobile section but still when I see the wifi calling toggle in the setting it is still stuck on enabling.
Is there anyway I can enable the wifi calling feature onto my ATT note 3 4.4.2 NC2.
I installed the SRX tmobile rom on my galaxy S3 and the wifi calling feature is working great.

2 things,
1.. when you flashed Tweaked, did you do the custom install.prop and edit it, and when you edited it, did you set it to att on tmo? i think that is what you might want.. if you flashed it strait from att thread, it is going to load as att and you cant do Wifi calling..
2. did you double check your APN, not 100% certain if wifi calling is effected by that, but make sure you are using tmo apn if you are with them..
side note, why the hell wouldn't you change over to the tmo note3 if you are on tmo now? unlocked BL and you can do so much more id say trade that att N3 in for the tmo one if you are able... you will probably love it so much more.

1 - I did change in the custom install.prop. I changed it to tmo on att N900a , isn't that what I am supposed to do? or other way around att on tmo as you mentioned?
2- APN was set up correctly as I was getting the 4GLTE and I double checked it and it was using tmo apn.
for the side note I actually won't mind trading my phone in for tmo note 3 but I am short on money so can't spend those extra few hundred on trading unless if I can find someone to do the straight swap as my phone is like new out of the box (not a single scratch).
Question for you,, Have you seen anyone able to enable wifi calling successfully? because I really want to use this feature as it will help me at home.
As far as I know, T-Mobile wifi calling is not supported with any AT&T plan/SIM

Any luck? I have an AT&T Note 3 as well that I'm using with a T-Mobile SIM, and I'm about to move to a building that has very poor T-Mobile coverage, and so I want to be able to use wifi calling.
If someone was willing to do a straight trade of a T-Mobile Note 3 for my AT&T one, I'd be all set, but probably hard to find that.

XDA from there.
For your problem you can unlock your device either by calling att which is a free method or you can buy the unlock code from the ebay or any unlocking company, If you google it you will find plenty. And as far as I know tmobile also caps there data at 1 or 2 GB unless you have unlimited 4g LTE plan which I would think is little on the expensive side.

Has there been any confirmation or otherwise on whether or not the Play Store version will be able to be activated on Verizon?
I know there's only one SKU and I know that the Nexus 5 was able to be activated on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T so I'm inclined to believe the Play Store device can be activated on any of the major carriers.
i've got similar questions.
like you, i wonder if this 1 "US" model is essentially identical across the board. i wonder if the play store variant can be activated on either cdma or gsm. i also wonder if there's a difference in the play store N6 and the N6 on motorolas web store. i guess i'm really just wondering if all the bootloaders can be unlocked, no matter where you purchased your Nexus 6.
There's only 2 models one for American one for the rest of the world. I have some doubts that Verizon will activate one from the play store only because they might require the imei to already be in their system as in bought from them. But it's possible to have them add your imei after the fact. Or at least sprint was able to with the N5

My understanding is with Verizon, if you already have an activated nano-SIM, you can just put it in the Nexus 6 and it would work (if you set the APN details right). Can anyone confirm this?

This is my understanding
The problem with VZW is you can't just out your Sim into a phone that doesn't have its IMEI/MEID white listed in their system because of the CDMA part. I'm hoping that all of the IME/MEID of all the Nexus 6s will be added but we have no confirmation and VZW won't comment on the matter.
I hope they don't even have to add the imei it should just work.

It wont just work on the cdma side .... Just like sprint and the nexus 5 they will have to manually add the imei to thier system. But should be easy .It may stop people from upgrading and keeping unlimited data but that is another thing in itself

Cdma doesnt work like gsm you can't just insert sim card and it work ... You could buy the n5 from Google and sprint had to manually add imei to system or you would not get 1x or 3g putting sim in only got you lte . should be the same again with both carriers now

It's not going to work and unless your phone has a nano sim in it right now ie a iPhone your going to have to call and get it activated on your account... Like i said the imei on sprint had to be added until then you would only get lte .... Without a activated nano sim you won't get anything

Okay, so I can cut it down and if that doesn't work get a new SIM. Can they tell the sim size based on the iccid number?

Has there been any confirmation or otherwise on whether or not the Play Store version will be able to be activated on Verizon?
I know there's only one SKU and I know that the Nexus 5 was able to be activated on Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T so I'm inclined to believe the Play Store device can be activated on any of the major carriers.

Straight talk
I was wondering if I will be able to use this on the Straight talk CDMA network. Seeing the Nexus 5 was not sold by Verizon that made sense, but since Verizon will have the Nexus 6 I am hoping I will be able to use this phone on Straight talk using CDMA network. I am currently on AT&T and am waiting for the N6 release to switch over to ST, but I really need to know if I can use this phone if I switch. Anyone have an idea or is it still to early to know something like this?

I don't think you'll be able to use the N6 on Straight Talk CDMA. I can't use my Verizon Moto X on it. Only a CDMA flip phone was accepted.
You'll be able to use it he N6 on Straight Talk GSM network.

Ya, that is what I figured, not the worst thing to stay with the GSM network but I would have preferred the CDMA. Thanks.

I'm leaving CDMA for GSM once I get my hands on some Nexi 6.
Giving up both my Verizon Unlimited lines to go with AT&T.

I hope you're giving (or selling) those unlimited lines to someone and not just cancelling — people would kill for those!

I was going to try and sale them on ebay. I was looking, doesn't look like they go for as much as they use to. I'm hoping to get enough to make it worth it. At least $200 per line. But maybe with the Nexus 6 the price will go back up.
I've had my N6 for a week and a half now; when I ordered it, I requested a Nano SIM from Verizon. It took longer than I expected for the new SIM to arrive, so I decided to just cut down my existing Micro SIM. Did that, installed into the N6, up and running no problem.
The Nano SIM finally showed up, and I swapped it in thinking there'd be no issue. Unfortunately when I start it up, I get a notification to "Sign into network", and when I open that, I receive a screen that says "Cannot Activate Your Device". I talked to VZW on their chat and then on the phone; the tech on the phone was asking for the IMEI which I provided, he said their system did not recognize the number and he'd have to submit a request to have it added to the database, which would take 24-48 hours, and that I could swap in my old SIM in the meantime. No problem, until I switched my old SIM back in and it doesn't work anymore either....
Any suggestions?
Sounds like you were better off keeping them in the dark. I read an article somewhere can't remember where saying that Verizon wouldn't activate any n6 that weren't purchased directly from Verizon. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.

It does seem that way. Mine came from GPS. Told them that when I requested the new SIM and they didn't give me any problems...it was "sure, confirm your address and we'll send it".
The tech I was dealing with genuinely seemed to want to figure out a way to get it to work.
My thought is to try to get my SIM back in a phone that is unquestionably on Verizon's system, but I'll have to find a nano to micro adapter to do that with my wife's phone, for instance.
I was able to find a nano-micro adapter, and reactivate my old SIM in an old Galaxy S3 we had laying around, and swap it into my N6.
LTE data is working, but voice isn't for some reason (when I place a call, it'll ring once and then "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, your call can not be completed as dialed. Please check the number..."
ETA: Voice issues were some kind of glitch with Advanced Calling/VoLTE. I disabled it from my line, reactivated it and went through that whole process again and now it's working.
This post summarizes the VZW issues with the non-VZW N6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59970721&postcount=121
Read the whole thread if you want details, but it seems clear to me the VZW is breaking FCC regs by only allowing N6's purchased from them on their network.
It does seem you have other issues going on here though. My N6 worked great, it just cost me my $25 "bring your own device" discount when I plugged in my existing SIM.
Please let us know if you succeed in getting your N6 recognized on VZW's network. My request to add mine to their network was denied in about 5 minutes.
Same issue on b2b plan
I'm having the same issue on a B2B plan. I am currently trying to find someone w/ a Verizon android. Seems like there are grounds for a complaint through FCC regulations though, no?

This is no longer an issue. Verizon will activate all Nexus 6's now from what I've read.

I was under the impression that the N5 radio could connect to Band 13 (700MHz)

Yeah it would need a lot more than just support for LTE band 13 to work on Verizon. The CDMA bands/radios are still 100% necessary - at least for now. In addition to all of the other LTE bands Verizon supports.

Yea, I guess I am missing something here. I found that you can't enable Band 13 without rooting and disabling other bands. Shouldn't an unlocked nexus 5 just need access to Band 13 and be registered on Verizon's network in order to use LTE Band 13?
I appreciate all of the answers. I'm a bit new to this whole process, and never understood US network space before today. so thanks

Hey there fellas! I recently purchased an international Galaxy Note 8 to use on AT&T here in the U.S. Everything appears to work fine except the speed of my network. Normally in this area I would be getting LTE speeds around 30-40 up and down. With the Note 8 is displays H+ (which I understand to be LTE, but I may be wrong) and I get around 5-7 down and often less than 1mbps up. Some have suggested setting the preferred network time to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) which was already selected on my device. Is there anything else I can do to get the proper speeds? Thanks!

On all of my international versions H+ was 3G and 4G was LTE. Depending on the area with 4G I would get 20 - 50 megs down on AT&T. On my 950U1 my settings under #*#*4636*#*# I have TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS selected by default and mine shows LTE and depending on the area up to 100 megs down.
H+ is 3G, or 3.5G for some carriers

Ah, that would explain why my speeds are so slow. Thank you for clearing that up. I attempted to select TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS as my preferred network mode but for whatever reason it will not apply. When I reopen that settings menu it goes back to whatever option was selected prior to that. Do you think it could have something to do with the selected APN? I have ATT Phone as my current APN, but at the store they were trying to use ATT Nextgenphone, which didn't work.

I would do all I could to get the Nextgenphone APN working. It is what I used on all my international phones.
Took the Note 8 into the AT&T store today and swapped out the sim card without any luck. As usual they couldn't provide any help beyond that. I also I can't select TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS as my preferred network type for some reason. I contacted the person I bought the phone from and they claimed they used it on Verizon's LTE network without an issue. Very strange.

Would you mind sharing what your CSC on your Note 8 is? I might end up flashing whatever firmware your phone is using, as mine is currently running a firmware for French phones. Not sure if thats the issue, but its possible.

When your look for the firmware look for 950U1 for AT&T. I would look around for a thread on flashing other regions first just to be safe.

I may be totally off here, but wouldn't that be an issue as the AT&T variant uses a Snapdragon SoC, while my device uses Exynos? Another concern for me would the ability to root as well, which is one of the reasons I decided not to buy an AT&T branded phone. Thanks for your help so far man, I appreciate it!

You are right. There is no AT&T firmware for your phone. Unless they changed something with the Note8 you should still be able to get 4G. I did with my international Note4, Note5, and Xperia Z5 Premium models. My son is using the Note5 with an Exynos processor and gets 4G speeds comparable to LTE speeds in the area.
Had this problem as well way back when I first got my 950F.
There are solutions. But you would need one of 2 things.
1. Get At&t to add your IMEI# TO their database so that they can provision your phone correctly.
2. Get another At&t branded phone's IMEI# that is LTE COMPATIBLE. and call them to provision you phone with that #.
My phone is getting full LTE speeds and VOLTE.
But I had them put in the IMEI# of my older Note 5!( which my wife is currently using)...
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I called ATT and gave them your suggestion and they claimed that it would not work. They said provisioning my new phone with an IMEI of a different phone would be temporary up to 2-3 weeks. Have you encountered this issue? I'm assuming not, so I'm curious as to how long you've had this fixed. Thanks again man
