[Q] Any ideas why there's no Interop Unlock on WP8 yet? - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just thinking about interop unlock... WP7 devices can get interop unlock right? Well, why we still don't have interop unlock yet on WP8? Some says because the device is encrypted? Hmmm... We can dev unlock WP8 with a dreamspark account or a developer account but dev unlock is limited to 10 apps (3 on dreamspark) and if i'm right, can't make any system-wide changes, only interop unlock can perform those tasks... Any ideas? Thanks

For most WP7 devices the only way to get Interop or Full Unlock has been to Flash a Custom ROM. This first required HSPL. With WP8 this got a lot harder because the necessary keys to check the signature of every Software that is loaded has been embedded in Hardware. So the Hardware ensures that the bootloader has not been tempered with which in turn ensures that the OS has a valid signature and so on.
Unless the SecureBoot gets hacked there won't be CustomROMs. And unless someone discovers a security flaw in the OS that can be used to extend privileges we won't see an Interop Unlock.

Been rattling my brain on this one over the last few weeks, it must be really locked down if there is nothing by now. I'm not worried as much about side loading xaps, I am more interested in things like Advanced Config where I can change to unlimited colors or 3rd party "non-approved" apps that you would not find in the store.

ohh... now I know why! Thanks! I wish some devs here could hack or disable secureboot... cheers!

[Q] [Question] How to Dump ROM and Root New Device (Mi700 DroidPad)

Hi guys,

I know this is not a G1/Dream question, but I believe the best developers are in this area. I am about to get my hands on a new Mi700 DroidPad, a budget Android Tablet, with Android 2.2. I wrote a review which was picked up at Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/csls-500-spice-mi700-droidpad-runs-froyo-looks-awfully-famili/. The software as I can perceive it so far is problematic (slightly buggy). Since this is a new device (and I have checked for any development efforts from the Net and found none so far), I was wondering what I should do in order to:
1) Root the device
2) Dump the ROM
In regards to rooting the device, I was thinking since it shares the same CPU as the Aria and Legend (MSM7227), can I just use the one-click root method? I will try that, but would like to know alternatives if that fails.
On dumping the ROM, well... I have no idea what can be done, but would love to try doing it, so that Flash can run on it. At the moment, though it is on 2.2, Flash does not appear in the Market.
Anyway, thanks a lot guys. If anyone can help clarify the matter or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Btw, I'm trying to arrange with CSL to give developers some discount on purchasing this device which is equal in functionality with Samsung's Tab, without the crazy pricing.
Thanks!
we need someone hlep us how to root ???? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carrier IQ installed?

Hello everyone,
a while ago carrier IQ was detected as a huge privacy problem in lots of Android distributions. Thanks to many developers there are methods to detect it quite easily.
checks with e.g. the voodoo carrier IQ detector say that the Samsung Galaxy Note isn't affected.
However as I detected with the "Androids secret" app (currently on the front page of XDA), there are classes on the device suggesting that carrier IQ is on the Note.
So is the software just not active or is it active and the detector apps are just not able to detect them? Attached is a screenshot of the app "Android secrets" showing the presence of carrier IQ classes on the SGN.

Does anyone know more about this?
bump for good question. where did you source your note?
I should add: it's stock ROM LB1 DBT, no carrier restriction.
Depending on the model it may or may not have the OTA installed. It might have the firmware installed at the chip level just not the OTA agent, so it doesn't show up wit the detectors. Of course the carrier could simply push an update to install the OTA at any time. They could also remove an agent as well like Sprint did. Great PR move on their part, but putting the agent back is just as easy.
@sanchanim: Thanks for your reply.
Since this is an original Stock ROM without any carrier restriction it is Samsung who put Carrier IQ onto the device. The question is: Is the software just a relict of old times or is it indeed active?
If that's the case, a lot of people are affected (again)..

FRP LOCKED Samsung SM-T280. Need help

I purchased a used tablet off ebay. It is frp locked. The seller said he would refund me my money or give me a partial refund to get it unlocked. I am looking for suggestions on what to use to unlock.
I looked at the logs and took some pics of them. Hopefully they will tell you what version and security patch is installed. I get to the talkback screen. When click on the privacy policy I get the your request has been declined for security reasons.
I haven't messed with rooting or customising android since 2.0 or so. So I am way out of the game.
Suggestion?

You should downgrade to build ended with PH3, otherwise there is no way to use Talkback to open Chrome.
I don't know what you did, but Volume Up + Home + Power will open Recovery Mode where you can see the build number at the top.
With the volume up power home screen there is a option to see logs also. I will downgrade and see what happens

If you already know how to use Talk Back to reach Privacy Policy, then no problem to unlock FRP by downgrade the firmware.
They key of FRP unlock is to know what method to use with certain build or OS, there is no key for every lock, that's main point most users are missing when post a solution online, so are the ones are watching or reading.
I was not sure if the firmware I was on was able to unlock. After reading a lot, I found it easiest to downgrade the firmware. Works like a charm.

[Q] Custom ROM with Knox?

Hi,
It might be a silly question, because I have only sees knox-disabled ROMs so far..
But I have a S10e thats for work, with work-apps that my company controls. In the default OneUI (and Lawnchair)-launcher, I have another tab with apps called "work", and they are all locked, and it says "secured by Knox".
See here:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So, I really want to know if I can root and install custom rom while still using it the same way as I do now?
With the work-apps etc thats "powered by Knox" I mean?
TLDR; Amy ROMs with Knox enabled?
If not, will my work-apps still work? (Look screenshot).
Thank you for reading!
Well I do know that for work whenyou install the light rom by yosh92 it will ask you if you need the Knox framework or something like that, which is used for some work apps, however this does not mean that it will work. Since tripping knox is a one way trip, you have to make sure that it works. Please ask ok the forums for light rom and for deluxe rom I believe 2 different developers, 2 different rooms but those two will have the framework and I believe deluxe rom will have some extra compatibility to knox. Remember to comment back your findings. Have a nice day!

There was a thread... https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...d-expired-certificate-whats-next-lol.4403393/
In short, Samsung's server https://rmm.samsung.com that does unlocking has expired certificate (four months ago), so now noone can unlock it that way. Only two options are to wait for Samsung to update certificate, or go to some repair service — they might have some app that can unlock RMM (these have rather expensive licenses).

Samsung probably doesn't care anymore
