Custom notification sound - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, just a quick one, does anyone know how to set a custom text tone? I've got an mp3 file, I've messed around with file explorer and placed it in media, audio, notifications and also created a notifications folder but it's still not being recognized in the settings as a choice for notifications.
I'm not rooted.
It's odd because I can see the Facebook pop sound in the notifications folder I'm trying to put this file in.

Ps-original file I'm trying to use is a voice memo if that makes any difference

I downloaded some sounds off zedge and had to move them to the /media/notification folder and they did not show up, after restarting my device they were there.

Cheers Steve. Not sure why it wouldn't let me do it directly

Battery full notification

Anyone know how to turn the battery full notification off or change the tone to something other than my default notification? This is getting really old now, maybe I missed something in my settings. I'm on 2.2 btw

would also love to know this.....got sick of getting woken up at night when battery was full. Ended up using tasker to silence it, but would be nice. I read somewhere the reason it happens is because in froyo they changed the tone from being a "system sound" to being a "notification sound"
Hopefully in the final build they will have an option to change it. I like knowing my battery is full, but not THAT much! Just seems weird...

bigdessert,
Could you share your Tasker setup, please?

Go to system/media/audio/ui and remove or rename the TW_battery_caution.ogg file.

i've renamed the ogg file, but since i put my phone to vibrate only overnight, how can i make the vibrate notification stop when the battery is full. believe it or not, the vibration can wake me up overnight (i'm a light sleeper).
Hmm, I must be lucky with this "feature"(annoyance). I get the pop-up that the battery is full but I have yet to hear it make a sound. I have an app called SmartBar that lets me change my audio levels without going through the menus all the time, so maybe thats silencing the full charge notification.

Are the files on your sd card?

Did you try putting a file called .nomedia in the folder where the icons are stored. That will exclude the files from the gallery. It will also exclude sub folders.

thanks for help, but it doesn't work...
You could switch to a different pic viewer, like Quickpic. It allows you to exclude folders from scanning. However, in the stock gallery, it still scans them. I also saw an app on the market that supposedly hides pics. I haven't tried it, so i couldn't tell you if it works.

Custom Ringtones for Contacts

Am I missing something? Can I not add a custom right tone to a contact? I just switched over from my Droid X today and I came across this issue.

I believe the way to do it is if you open the Contacts app then click on the contact and when it shows their info, hit the menu key then select options and it should then give you the option to set a custom ringtone for that contact.
I've tried that but the only choices that are available are the stock ringtones that came with the phone I'd like to use an actual song from my music library as that contacts ringtone.

I noticed the same thing! I like to have different songs for different people, i don't want to be limited to the lame generic ringtones, i want Beck and Death Weather and QoTSA!
I just upgraded from a Droid X today and I able able to add custom ringtones to contacts then now on DB it doesn't seem to give you an option to do that I'm surprised

Might try adding the music files to a folder named "Ringtones" on the sd card. It worked for my portal 2 ringtones.

Files placed into: /Internal phone storage/media/audio/ringtones are usable as ringtones. If the folders already exist, just move your files there. If the folders aren't already there, you can use the pre-installed Files application to create them. From with the app, click Menu then New Folder.
Then do this keeping in mind that it needs to be done from the View Contact screen, not the Edit Contact screen:

I figured it out: I opened the music app then long pressed the song I wanted as a ring tone. The go to the contact select options and when the list of ring tones opens looks for the song title and hi-light the song done. Thanks to all of you for helping!!!!

I had some songs and alert tones that I put on the external SD card, and the system found them and added them to my list of available ring tones without me having to do anything.
have had no issues with custom ring tones and alerts.
Thanks. That also worked for the notification ringtone.

I guess this is just another method that works again I'd like to thank everyone for there input

Check out "Rings Extended" in the app market. Once installed it operates in the background. Assign a ringtone as normal, but when you do you get the option to use Rings Extended. It will let you choose any music on your phone.

Issue changing Bluetooth File Exchange folder on computer.

I'm having an issue getting Windows 7 to actually change the folder. I go to the Bluetooth settings and change it under the Share tab to where I want it, but files I send from my phone still go into the default Bluetooth folder.
Any ideas or suggestions?
