Turn on NFC in your Settings.
Open a picture or something like that and touch another device which has NFC enabled.
The two devices should vibrate and your picture should "zoom out" a little bit.
Touch your screen and keep the two devices in touch for a few seconds.
After that the Bluetooth file transfer should start.
No need for extra apps.

Can anybody tell me how to use android beam and WiFi direct on o4x? I have tried every permutation and combination to get these working but failed only play store opens and says item not found
Don't understand what you mean.
You find the settings or those are not working? What do you exactly mean?
Maybe this process needs an app and that app is not available in your country .
Maybe .
I mean to say, when ever i am trying to receive the data from other device over nfc i.e. through android beam, i am unable to receive the data and android play store pops up searching for some app and as said earlier that app is not available for my country (may be) due to which a msg pops up which says"App not available" Can anybody help me to get rid of this?
Hi Kanad,
I have tested the NFC and Wifi direct with many phones (apart from LG). When you turn on NFC, go to your gallery open a picture and now place your phone's back(as lg has nfc at its back) to the area of any other NFC enabled phone. When you do so your phone will vibrate and a message will pop on your screen stating Touch to beam. Please note our NFC only transfers photos or some website page. It is not to be confused with Samsung android beam. Our NFC uses bluetooth while Samsung uses wifi.
Coming to wifi direct. We cannot transfer files even though we connect through wifi direct to any Samsung devices. For using wifi direct we need to have a program called wifi cast or fast file transfer.

I'm sorry for asking this stupid question, but is it possible to send or receive large files, like mkv or some sort with wifi direct?
I've tried sending some movies over wifi direct to LG L9 but always failed. I've always thought wifi direct has got the same inner working as bluetooth, is that correct?
Sorry for these silly questions, I'm quite a noob on Android.

The largest file I ever sent via Wifi Direct using Fast File Transfer is an archive file with the size of 276 MB and the transfer was successful. I haven't tried to send anything larger. Also, the transfer was from my friend's Lenovo K860 to my O4X

Hey, yes we can share files more than1 GB. You will require the right program. For Eg. Wifi Cast only supports pictures, etc. So fastfiletransfer can help you in this case.
I tried to use NFC on my htc one (sprint) at my local wallgreens but not matter what I did,the terminal would not even detect the nfc chip, even though it is enabled. Is there anything I have to do first before I try tapping the phone to the terminal (see picture below).I have NFC enabled through the settings, and entered my pin in the google wallet app before I started the process, but to no avail...
I tried beaming an app to an N4 today. It didn't work. I'll try try use beam with another phone and see if tat works.
The other day I played with NFC between my phone and tablet. Had to hold them back to back and be in an application like gallery (with a picture open) where when I hear the tone on NFC, then an option came up do you want to share this. Probably the same with music, etc. Was able to transfer pictures via NFC.
Hope that helps...
My local Walgreens has those little things but they aren't hooked up my NFC works just fine, I transferred pictures and I can use at McDonald's, they have it working perfectly. It might just be that Walgreens, many have them but they don't have them hooked up, it's stupid

I cannot even enable my NFC for some reason on my phone.
I check the box to turn it on, and it turns right back off.
Just in case you guys may have the positioning wrong. The NFC chip is the top left area of your phone. NFC works just fine for me.
Was trying to show someone wifi direct the other day and as it turns out it didn't want to work.
Went to album, selected a pic, pressed menu and share, scrolled down and there was no option for wifi direct.
I've also read that you have to pair with the device first.
I even tried an app that I used to use called SuperBeam which also didn't work.
Does anyone have this working?
I was attempting to send files to a Note 3, even android beam didn't work.
I don't use this feature all the time but it'd be nice to have a feature working if it's supposed to.
Cheers.
Superbeam works fine for me. 41mbps+ for large single file transfers

Same here. I was trying to connect via Wi-Fi to my TV Sony. I paired the devices but I never get it work and never displayed any pictures on the TV or even send them via Wi-Fi, I missing the option sending via Wi-Fi too. I don't know, I just give up.

for me it's mixed bag. sometimes it works like a charm, just press Throw, shows available devices, chosing one of them send the file to the output (photo, video, music). and sometimes - like after disconnecting and trying to connect again few minutes later - it doesn't work at all.
The point i'm trying to make is why on earth is it on the device if the device doesn't use it? I can't understand why a company would allow a protocol to be included and then not give the ability to use it?
On the vast majority of phone all you do is pick a file and select share, then choose wifi direct and off it goes, no need to be connected to wifi, infact you wouldn't even need a sim card to do it.
Such a stupid thing to happen and a bit awkward when someone with a sammy device is showing off a feature and even though yours has it it doesn't work lol.
I found myself saying "Ok just download this app" Bit long winded isn't it? I mean click share and click wifi direct job done, what gives ?
Hi guys, i bought my N6 recently, i was just 2 DAYS with this wonderful phone, just in love with it.... So after JUST 2 DAYS of using, i had an aircraft accident, and on the accident my device "flew" to the aircraft's panel and then broke the LCD ( There are 2 crack's on the phone, one of them seems to be on touch ( i can feel it when i touch it) and the second crack seems to be exactly on LCD, i can see that it is cracked, but a i can't feel it. So my question is, how can i FORMAT my device without using the "screen" ? Do we have an option to format trough USB? I think that my device is working, because i can hear the screen sound locking! As my N6 has a password to power on, i am unable to turn it on and see if my device still can receive calls or to test if still works.... I would like that somebody could help me, just after 2 days of using... In my country, the NEXUS 6 is not available to sell, so i would have to IMPORT the LCD an then make the installation, but before that, i would like to have sure about the phone, if it IS or Not working... Hope somebody can help me, tnks a lot!
Try using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit. I think it has an option to format your nexus 6. Take care
If you use Google chrome on your pc, enabled usb debugging and enabled "install from unknown sources", then you might be able to operate your phone without a display using a browser app called Vysor.
Unfortunately i dropped phone today and screen broken. It is so bad that I cant see anything on phone but phone is working since i can receive phone using headset.
I wanted to take backup but dont know what tool can help me to do it. Please can someone help me to get my data backed to PC.
BTW what would be cost of new display.
Screen Broken - Cant Use - How do I export data?
What an amazing mobile the ROG 2 is.
No complaints really. Though I did drop it and the screen is broken so I am sending it off for a repair (if possible).
I cant use the screen at all, and they told me that the data needs to be wiped before its sent (or they will wipe it anyway).
Any idea how to get data off it, like contacts etc without using the screen?
Thank you all.
Your contacts should sync to your Google account. Go to contacts.google.com to verify they have already synced.

Thank you for the reply. What about messages, whatsapp etc
Is there any known software without using the screen?
Use an otg dongle and connect a mouse to the phone, you should be able to click like touch.

I think I am right in assuming that i need to give permission on my ROG to allow screen mirroring on a monitor. But of course I cant do that as I dont have access to the screen.
Am I right or is there a workaround?
Thanks

If you have allowed adb before, you can use adb pull command to copy files to a computer.
Changing the screen wont require data reset, I dont know why they are insisting on wiping the data!
you can also try this and see if it works: connect the phone to a pc and when the phone asks for permission, have a mouse connected to the phone and click the place that the allow button is most probably is.(it's on bottom right corner about a centimeter up and left) if you're set to English that is.
but you have to be able to unlock the screen before that somehow. maybe the fingerprint still works?
And my last option would be to get the screen replacement yourself and do it yourself if the data really matters to you. getting the broken screen off the phone shouldnt be much of problem because it's already broken so what could go wrong right?
and you will just have to apply the new screen with care and proper glue that you can get from a phone shop.
Sure you have fixed by now but incase or if anyone else lands here, You can use USB C TO HDMI (Cable, dongle, etc) and hook it to computer screen,TV. I had adapter and hooked a mouse to navigate. Though very poorly, I could still use touch screen
