Hi all...
If developers develop roms and mods and whatnot for the dev edition would those same mods work on a regular edition of the HTC one...
This is my biggest concern if i were to buy the HTC one. also is this thing rooted yet? I cant seem to see any "rooting guides"
I may hold off on buying this thing for a month in hopes a great rom such as CM or PA comes to the HTC one... Here's hoping.
thanks for any info given!
All info about rooting, installing CWM etc you can find here

Hello XDA,
I realize there is not too much information around about Japanese version of HTC ONE (aka J HTL22). I am wondering should I get the japanese version with osfaiukeitai and microsd slot or normal version. Here are my concers - please let me know if anyone has any clue:
1) Will it be possible to root the HTL22 ? if so, which method works?
2) Will iot be possible to use/install custom ROMs from this forum to HTL22?
3) Will MicroSD and/or osaifukeitai work with a custom ROM? I realize drivers will be needed for that. Is it possible to retreive the drivers from original ROMs and incorporate them into the new Custom ROM?
4) is it true that HTL22 is sold sim-unlocked, as rumor suggest?
any advise and info will be very appreciated!
Thank you
Bump. anyone. pls?
I think you better to consult with Mr.fnoji - you can contact him with Twitter @fnoji.
As far as I know -
1) yes. Use the revone with alternative binary.
2) I doubt it, but, people like tako0920 or fnoji are maintaining their custom roms.
3) J One's custom rom can exploit the unique MicroSD slot, but I don't know if xda's custom rom does have that feature also.
4) No, you should unlock it with fnoji's method.

Checking twitter meanwhile.
Thanks so much

I'd like as much information as possible as well. I just picked up this phone and would like to know what options are available. Does anyone know if regular HTC One accessories will work for this device?

I think the accessories will work, but it will help if you are more specific about which ones you want to use.
As for root - the only way to root and unlock the phone is to send it to someone who knows how to do it. Root-unlock method is not available publicly.
Althouh it seem like J-version ov Revone will work and unlock the bootloader. It will be easy to sim-unlock the phone once bootloader is unlocked. However, i do not know which command does it. trying to find out now. any help/ideas are welcome.
Yeah, if I fail to find an unlock method for HTC-One online, i think I am going to Galaxy s4 Active-Orange... I know it is not quite water-proof but I like the design very much
hi,
actually, i am still on the stage whether to choose HTC J One or other phones (like Galaxy S4 SC-04E or Xperia).
so, i would like to get your opinion about HTC J One.
right now i am still using Softbank but I am planning to switch to au or docomo by next month.
is it really worth getting the HTC J One? or if you have the chance you're getting a different one like SC-04E or Xperia?
are there any problems like lagging, stuttering, freezing, etc?
at first I plan to use it as it is. simply stock. just to have all the functions/features working.
but I noticed in your signature that you have successfully rooted your device.
i might do the same as well if i'll choose HTC J One...
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have recently bought myself an htc j one and am looking for an easy step by step guide for rooting it and installing a custom rom. Also will I be able to make the handset sim free so that I can use it overseas when travelling? I hope somebody can help me. Thanks.
Hello,
I have an htc one from o2. I want to root it to google edition. Iam a noob at this so can someone show me the way or links to a tutorial please.
Is it worth doing? whats the advantages of a rooted phone? sorry for the questions but i have come from iphone to android so iam new to all this.
thanks
My advice is keep studying, install the sdk and get good at adb and comfortable! Once you're ready and able use a guide for your phone and read it a couple times before you start. Most importantly don't stop any operations you attempt in mid stream follow through and don't reboot until you know it's all good. Hope it's as fun for you as it was for me.

thanks for that, but that means nothing to me.Whats the advantages etc. Is it worth it. i can follow tutorials etc. just need to know what the best guide is etc
If you don't know what the advantages of a rooted phone are and what root means, why are you trying to do it? To be honest I don't even understand your post - do you want to root your rom, have a rooted google edition rom or fully convert to a google edition phone?

sorry for the confusion. Like i say im new to this.
I dont know the difference, i know rooting that you can put custom roms on it, but whats the difference and best, do fully make it google edition or put a custom rom on?

First off, you don't need to be rooted to flash a custom rom - all you need is a custom recovery after you unlock your bootloader. A good guide for noobs to read is the one by mike1986 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
If I were you, I'd stick to just flashing a google edition rom to see if you like it, rather than doing a full conversion. This way you can easily get back to stock. This rom is 4.3 Google edition and already rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395
Read the guide above carefully though. Especially the parts about backing up stock, or you'll be back here later asking for help..

Hi, i'm a noob to android so sorry if this is worded wrong or has already been answered. I was wondering why the sprint htc one cannot use the 4.3 Google Play edition ROM located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395
Will the Sprint HTC One ever be able to run the google edition ROM's or am i stuck with Sense? I searched about it but could not find a straight answer. Thanks

There are many AOSP-based ROMs floating around in the development section, but you should look into the differences between CDMA/GSM devices. Essentially, the way that data is laid out inside Sprint's version of the HTC One (as well as hardware differences) make flashing a GSM ROM a bad idea-- the system simply won't be usable.
Bottom line, not natively, you'll have to wait for a port.

Hi Guys,
I have been trying to find the information through out quite a few different threads. I keep finding threads that list "compatible with all variants except Sprint (until 4.2.2 is released)", however if I understand what that is saying correctly it's mentioning anything over Android 4.2.2 would work (ie Android 4.3). Unfortunately I have been out of the rooting/flashing game for about 2years and the last one I had was the Evo3D so I don't think I had this variants problem back then. I have already unlocked my bootloader (htcdev method) and as far as I know i've rooted it (CWM Recovery and SU), so as far as I know the ROM is the next step.
Are there any ROMs (preferably Android 4.3) that are compatible with the sprint HTC One?
Thank you guys so much for any info and suggestions you guys can throw my way.

Sprint user here, Ive been running elegancia for some time now, excellent rom. Find it in Android Developement in this forum. Q/A would have been a better place for this question bro. Hope this helps ya man.
Oh sorry. Like I said it's been a long while since I last dove deep into these forums. Thank you so much for the tips guys. I was really starting to get frustrated and thought I was just screwed. Thanks again guys.
Hey guys,
So I recently got the HTC One Remix (the Verizon version of the HTC One Mini 2) and I would like to root it and install a custom ROM for it (preferably Cyanogenmod). The problem is verizon makes it hard to do any of these things and sadly switching carriers isn't really an option any time soon so I am trying to make do.
HTC-Dev reportedly won't work with verizon phones and many of the solutions for the HTC One Mini 2 don't work for the Remix even though they are essentially the same phone. Cyanogenmod has the HTC One Mini 2 listed as a supported device but I am not sure if that will work with the Remix because a carrier is not specified.
I have yet to see anyone who has had any luck, so is there anyone out there at all who is running a custom ROM on a rooted HTC One Remix? If so, what did you use to obtain root (sunshine maybe?) and what custom ROM are you running?
I'm majorly new to this sort of thing so hopefully the solutions are relatively easy so I don't end up bricking my phone.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!

As far as I can see there aren't many hardware differencec between the two phones. The only problem is that at this point there is no other way of unlocking these phones then trough HTC dev. I don't think there is a lot of development going on with unlocking with other methods. How do you know HTC dev isn't supporting your device? Did you check if "All other supported models" in the list?

It a verizon exclusive and HTC Dev doesn't work on verizon phones. The carrier blocked it. There's also a disclaimer somewhere deep on the htc site.
Thanks though. I'm just frustrated because I like the phone but I also really want to root it. I've tried a couple of the easier methods like sunshine and towelroot and those don't work I'm only on 4.4.2 but with my low skill level in this area I'm not sure if there's much I can do. I know s-off and root aren't the same thing but that's supposed to make it easier to find a way to achieve root right?
Aha then i'm afraid there isn't much you can do. Only wait for s-off because but I don't think it is goanna happen. My previous device is a One X and they had a huge user/developer base but never achieved s-off. It seems HTC really did a good job at closing this down.
stock rom?
Hi all, I accidentally nuked my memwl stock rom via twrp.. am desperately seeking anything that will make it usable again..

I need Stock recovery Please Send me the link :crying:
HTC One mini 2/remix stock recovery
Hi. I might be able help you here.
Here is a link to what I'm pretty sure is the stock recovery. Note this dumb forum won't let me post links, so reassemble this yourself..
h t t p s
w w w . androidfilehost . c o m
/?fid=95784891001615233
Can't remember the exact cmd line.. something like adb flash recovery <file>
Now for the rom, I'll have to see if the link I got it from is still valid when I get home. There's a guy 'jcase' I think on the IRC that uploaded his personal backup that worked for me.
To be clear, the rom is for the HTC One 'remix' - Verizon's branded HTC one mini 2. There is NO working cyanogenmod that I know of.
btw you will need the TWRP recovery to restore from the rom backup when you get it, so the stock recovery might only be useful if the flash still has the recovery image on it.
Certainly worth trying first.
Good luck,
-M
Xda Devs, please we HTC one remix users need a custom Rom and s-off for our device.... We would really appreciate it if you help us
