Well, write here when you bricked your device at first time (softbricked of course ), which ROM it was and what you did at first after your device was bricked.
I bricked my device first time 8 months ago. A first I was on panic and I searched for a sulotion for a week. I wanted to flash a ROM in a another forum, but I did flash it wrong. After a week of panic, I found a solution here on xda. After I relifed succefully my phone I just was veeeeery happy.
It was in November when I was on Razodroid and knew nothing about kernels and always stayed away from idea of flashing a kernel. Then I had the urge to try data2sdext script so I decided to flash latest Rafael.Baugis kernel and my mobile was bricked when I tried to flash CWM kernel of Rafael.Baugis
I tried going into recovery Mode and it went to Recovery but showed error such that error to mount this and that
I tried formatting everything but didn't work and some tries after, even recovery Mode was inaccessible
Download mode was black(I know how it works now ) so I had to send it to Service Centre and they repaired it in a week's time without any questions

I bricked my s5620 monte. Trying to flash a Rom by siris_cac.
Anyone, XBOX360 With me?
First Bootloops in january, first softbrick 20th January 2013 trying to flash Jelly Blast with Rafael Kernel. And after my device softbrick, i register in XDA at the same date..
And read read read read... Still reading and learning....
Flashed an ICS ROM for S5830. But the first brick I did was on my old LG Optimus One, I didn't knew sh*t about recoveries, but still tried to boot into CWM. I think I got the phone booting in fastboot only, so I gave it to my brother, who repaired it. After that, I said I would never flash ROMs anymore.
I bricked it the first time where i m was a noob(not something vs newbies every one was on) and i try to flash a galaxy y rom xD
At first i though **** its not wona work anymore because odin didnt work right on my pc but on my brothers one

The first time when i bricked my ace i was on 8th August 2012 ( 4 days after i bought ace i lol ) I didn't know anything about android ! I didn't know even what was an apk on that time. I was a big noob. In this way , i bricked it while installing CyangoenMod 9.1 [4.0.4] of S5830 Ace xD. I didn't know that Ace and ace i was so much different. I was killing my self. I searched that day 8 hours non stop about this. I didn't tell parents or ... *bad poker face* And when i successfully unbricked it on 9th August 2012 at 8 am ( I remember it like it was yesterday :silly: ) i felt like i was the king of technology
Now , i am a master of bricking/unbricking as i brick my device everyday trying new things .
By flashing S5830 ICS, i got it bricked 2 days after buying it. I scoured the earth for a solution. That's the way i got to xda too

Mine was around January 2013 I bricked my ace i because I thought I knew what I was doing. Since I had the original ace and never bricked it one. Freaked out for a couple days till I came across this forum by google. Ever since xda and google are my best friends.

I bricked for the first time in august when i try to install cmw of s5830 . I didn't know about 2 version of galaxy ace or kernel,mods,roms..
well...
well i have managed to boot loop it one time (probably cuz i had stuffed loads of data on it) and brick it by trying to install the galaxy sIII ROM... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skC4JEVVpYw so im probably not going to install another ROM..lol
Few months later and I have a new kernel and ROM
.sajfas
It was Christmas Eve and I was installing MindCr Rom and then it got bricked. (i forgot to wipe data ) I searched for 3 hours the I saw feetsonfire post on how to unbrick.
I had a Dell XCD 28 & it broke....
I put in the road, and covered it in snow
my bully ran over it and it was awsome! What are the chances !.............

it was the first time i brick my device,
i was trying to flash razodroid..
but it went really bad..the file was a bad download...
it was a fcking nightmare for me...
i didn't had any knowledge whatsoever about android..
i was a big time noob..
i had to wait for 2 days to unbrick my device (no internet connection)
then i again bricked my device two days later while trying to update the fw via odin..
this time the splited firmware was corrupted...
since then, i have bricked my phone many times and soft-bricked it like a thousand times.
i soft brick my phone almost everyday trying to do some new and stupid things...
it's been 3-4 days since i soft bricked my phone..i was too busy with submission in college...
now i am all free for 10 days and will find some new and innovative ways of bricking the device..

Mine was my Galaxy Europa, had it running for a day then found xda and hey presto, i became brickmaster. Ive got a galaxy mini and Ace i which i brick regularly (thank god for cygwin) and honestly went from gutted with the europa to panic with the mini, now i just enjoy all the hours of searching and trial and error and trying to get my soft bricks to connect so the drivers will activate. Id like to thank xda for this site, without them id be bored ****less and id have to speak with the mrs or worse take her somewhere......viva la xda. My saviours lol.

Never bricked, soft bricked or boot looped my phone

So a friend wants me to root his phone for him and put a custom rom on it. Its the galaxy I9000. I assume from reading posts that I use super one click to root, then rom manager to flash I9000 recovery and I will then have root/custom recovery? When I rooted my Infuse there were a lot of extra steps like having a modded recovery file in order to flash in rom manager. Is this phone just must easier or am I off on some steps?

If im not mistaken then Super 1 click only works on Froyo and not with gingerbread but if your friends on froyo then that should work. If you can get into download mode then you could flash an odin stock rom like this one http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/ then root with this http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvu-firmware/ which adds root and clockworkmod then from there you can flash any rom you want. Or even just flash a CF-root which is compatable with whichever rom the phone is on
A friend of mine wants me to slap you.
It's easy to root the SGS, all you need is a rooted kernel for the version of Android you are using.
That being said, it is also easy to brick the phone if you are not familiar with proper flashing procedures for the Galaxy S.
There are a couple of good threads on how to flash the SGS, I advise you to read them.

Samsung kies not going to upgrade due to so many reason. My fren g.note also faced the same prob before. He failed to upgrade thru kies as well. But after 2days tried, kies suddenly appear ugrade available. My another fren using s3 also same, mrn his phone detected update about 93mb available while at office, but he decide update thru kies at home. But nothing happened and kies appeared no update at all.Even he use ota thru his s3 also no more update available. But surprisingly he did manage update his s3 thru kies at second day. Weird right?..ha..
For 2.3.6 custom firmware litening rom will be my best choice.
For ics 4.0.4 custom rom, classic rom will be my choice.

was your phone in working order before yo decided to update? what ROM were you on? did you wipe on a dangerous kernel?
Did you EVER do a wipe on your phone? If yes, did you check emmc integrity afterwards?
I Believe i was on a 2.3.6 ROM, but can't really remember because the phone was laying around and i decided to use it again.
I know there's still a backup on the external SD card from it that i made with CWM, and here it all did go wrong.
I wanted to recover the backup, and the phone rebooted and hanged on '' Galaxy note n7000 screen ".
So, what is the best step for now what i can do ?

Not sure, but I think you have to flash a Stock ICS kernal before you flash any ICS Rom for the first time.

Well, you should know what your flash counter was before. Flashing a stock ROM did not increase it.
Also, if you are really super-bricked Samsung will not be able (or willing) to read it.

for example, check this out :

but if you are downloading GB, then you have to use a GB kernel instead.

Well so far i understand is this:
In ODIN mode it says:
ODIN MODE (In red)
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7000
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO

is this it?
Never got into android before, but willing to learn it tho, really like it.
Luckely i still have my galaxy s3 that works perfectly fine (Stock)
By the way,
What if my warranty does not cover this, or there would occur a problem that i cannot send it under warranty what steps can i take to get it working again? or is it really dead....

Wait, So you say
a.) you were on 2.3.6 i,e, Gingerbread,
b.) you had CWM which I assume is again Gingerbread based,
c.) You backed up and restored from CWM (Gingerbread based) and you got stuck at Boot Logo.
d.) You tried flashing stock ICS ROM via ODIN while on a Gingerbread based kernel.
c.) Stuck at FactoryFS.img which translates to a Superbrick. (While on a Gingerbread Kernel?)
Please contact Entropy ASAP before sending the device to samsung.
Please change your thread title to "Galaxy Note stuck at flashing FactoryFS from Gingerbread." or something similar so that your thread can be noticed easily.
If this is indeed true, then it means we are all going to brick at some point.
Are you SURE you were on Gingerbread when you did the restore?
Your symptoms sound like what happens when wiping with older CF-Root ICS versions (Specifically CF-Root 5.5 for ICS kernels).

Girlfriend just got home, and she says it was on android 4.0.3 (So thats ICS) Sorry for this one guys, last time i used the phone its like 3 months ago, and she used it till yesterday.
So, the phone was on android 4.0.3
Followed this tutorial to the letter and bricked it. I should have known that it would happen, the video it self was rather sketchy to begin with http://youtu.be/fXDvq5SaA70
Anyways, i was hoping maybe someone here could help? The errors im getting are as follows"
E:Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)
E:check_selective_file:Cant mount /efs
E: Failed to mount /preload (invalid argument)
E: Install_application_for_customer: Cant mount /preload
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions [my sd card is in the tablet so i dont know why i am getting this error]
E:Failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)
E: multi_csc: Can't mount /efs
Multi-csc applied failed
Dealing with phones seems much simpler... never had a problem rooting other devices.
Does it matter that i did it with odin rather then with heimdall? Im use to odin so i just rather not use heimdall

I have the verizon one, no idea if that means its the p1000 version.
just got this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=835192&d=1325238872
Why is rooting this device so difficult? Never had as much problems with other devices. I'll go ahead and try the overcome method but im willing to bet something goes wrong even then.

Edit: just check..overcome don't support SCH-I800..
Correct me if I'm wrong..:thumbup::thumbup:

Yeah thats what happened then.
It seems like there's almost no information or love for the sch-i800 haha oh well. If you guys find anything on it though let me know! I'll continue looking tomorrow (about to hit the hay!) but right now it seems like there may not be a solution to my problem :crying: Thank you guys for all the help so far!

Power was dead -.-
Well im gonna see what i can do then with that. Thank you!

About the power..you shoud try to let it charge for 4 hour..with wall adapter and if that doesn't work try with usb..then try to power it up..
About installing straight with cyanogenmod..that wouldn't work..coz you need custom recovery (eg. clock work mod[cwm]) to install it..and with your device stuck in secondary download mode..which mean you can't even go to stock recovery mode..
cyanogen must be install via custom recovery mode..
With that being said..
It's matters..
(҂`☐´)︻╦̵̵̿╤── .:system:.
Make sense
Alright i will let it charge for a couple of hours it keeps switching back from secondary download mode to not even on!
Also found this, sounds like it will work! http://www.droidforums.net/forum/samsung-galaxy-tab/113084-how-restore-vzw-galaxy-tab-stock-dj11-9.html#post2118311 Thank you Milke!
I hate to double post but it would be nice if someone could help me out a bit here:
So i made some progress, i can get into download mode now and there is a charging screen and a boot noise (no animation). The problem is when i try to go into recovery mode, i get a whole bunch of screen tears and random red and yellow lines appear the screen and then, well i presume it crashes, reboots, and goes back tot he charging screen.
What im thinking is somehow my bootloader got deleted?
Ive been searching nonstop for a boatloader to put into odin or heimdall but to no avail. Do you guys have any ideas?
You are quite right on. The multi coloured bands is usually bad bootloader. Not deleted, but I knew when people patched their GB bootloader ( with patch meant for Froyo), that happens.
You need to find a complete Rom package that is with boot.bin and Sbl.bin
Within its tar file.
I am not knowledgeable in Verizon tab, so can't help much. But there is a thread in dev forum that has stock rooted Verizon or sprint.

Did you try to take stock samsung rom from samfrimware? And then try the rooting proses again?

Okay so i got both of these things, where do i put them in respect to heimdall? I know one has to go in the primary bootloader slot (im assuming its boot.bin that goes there), but where does the other one go? And should i load all the extra files with it or just these two files by themselves?
Also mike i got the stock samsung rom but not from samfrimware, there was a google doc page with a zip file with all the stock samsung stuff for the cdma/sch-i800 which i downloaded and used to get out of my hard brick. So i believe its the right one but now its just a question of fixing the bootloader

The thread just tells me a lot of stuff i already know, it doesn't discuss the primary bootloader much though.
So im thinking this would be a good setup. Pretty much the exact thing ive been running except i put the boot.bin in the primary bootloader slot as well.
Also dont mind the progresso bread crumbs i have in my tabs
I've got this phone that I sold to a person, but he couldn't get the camera working and the gallery. Only the contacts and calling worked but before I sold it to him everything worked perfectly fine, now the thing is he says that he got some kind of message and just pressed some buttons.
And now this phone has this issue that the internal SD isn't working or won't see it.
I told him to give the phone to me and I would try and fix it by just wiping it in CWM 6.0.3.2 it was running on Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly, but now I got this error that it won't install any of the roms anymore of Cyanogen, it gives me this error report :

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It will just boot to CWM now as I wiped the entire thing so no rom is on it anymore.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Issue has been resolved thanks to xsenman
I have several ideas:
Firstly, you should try mount the phone to PC through 'mounts and storage' option, copy new ROMs and Kernels. You can then try installing different kernel (Semaphore, CyanCore) for JB4.2, reboot to recovery, full wipe and install ROM. If you still get same error, try it with external SD.
If that method won't work, you can try using Odin (but be careful!) - install 3-file JVZ ROM with repartition
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
hotfile. com/dl/136940891/b232b26/I9000XWJVZ_I9000OXAJVT_OXA.rar.html
then JVZ kernel
Code:
www.semaphore. gr/kernels/Semaphore_kernel_JVZ_2.1.1.tar
- and now you should be able to install custom ROMs again.
PS. Remember to take EFS backup if you didn't before.

I'll report back if this method worked.
Solution:- Most likely you have a incompatible CWM, or your Zip files are corrupted or you have mounted /system or /data

That's what My Android Solutions say about error "Status 0" in point 26.
For me wiping everything and installing stock rom + kernel with working CWM did a trick when I had similar problems.

There are 20 versions of Galaxy S, and their ROMS may not be compatible with each other, so make sure you know which model and which ROM should be used. CWM version 6.0.32 is much advanced version for Gingerbread ROM and used in S3 and S4 models, most likely the reason for your problem

I followed it and now I'm at the point where CWM is no more on the phone, my only last resort is Download mode now. I need the files in order to continue further though, but I have no idea which files I would need for Odin?
