Hi
I'm having a few problems with my trusty Galaxy S.
I tried to update to Cyanogen 10, got it installed through Clockwork mod no probs. I had a few problems with it , thought I'd try 9 as my friend gets on great with that.
It hasn't successfully flashed though. It's stuck in a loop where it enters Clockwork, then crashes back to the loading screen. I haven't done much of this for ages so guess I got careless and made an error somewhere.
I assume I need to flash through Odin now as I can still get to download mode, but not recovery. I don't know which kernel to get and use though? no idea what will work and don't want to brick my phone. I'd just like a working kernel that so I can put Cyanogen on again. Any advice is appreciated thanks.

Thanks that worked just fine. Nearly bricked the phone using someone's restore to stock guide. But now this kernel has installed fine.
Unfortunately I am trying to flash cm10, it installs fine, but it just loads back up into recovery mode, and wont boot properly.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get out of this CWM recovery boot-loop I'm stuck in?
The Semaphore Kernel is just stuck for me.

Hi
After using CM9 for some time, I decided to upgrade to the new stable release. I am not sure what happened, but the flash was unsuccessful. Using ODIN I restored my phone back to stock.
When I try to install CM9 I now end up in a recovery loop, where the phone will only boot into recovery.
What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?
Many thanks
Harry

Do you install cm9 through cwm recovery?

Yes I did, using the CWM that comes with the speedmod kernel. The CWM that the phone boots to after this, however, is an updated one, I assume the one that comes with CM9. From here I have tried reflashing CM9 but still have the recovery bootloop
Harry
Hey
Is your phone rooted??
and try flashing the rom twice..
Hi
It has Cwm but I didn't root before flashing. Thought it didn't make a difference?
I have tried flashing twice, still has me booting into recovery

For installing CM9 your phones needs to be on 2.3.6 and rooted...click here for my guide...
After I follow your guide will I have cwm and do i then just flash as usual?
Harry
Yup..
After rooting 2.3.6 you can follow the regular steps for CM9...

Ok I have upgraded, then when I try to flash CM9 it starts the process then quickly enters a bootloop where I get to the cyanogenmod kernel screen. I know I need to flash twice but I cannot see how to do so?
Thanks
Harry
Hey
Remove the battery...put it back after atleast 10 sec..then boot into recovery using 3 Button Combo...then flash the rom again...
This time it'll take a few min..then it'll re-boot itself..
Enjoy..
Got it all working perfectly now, thank you so much

What were you on before flashing the kernel?
My guess is that you'll have to Odin back to stock KK4, flash Corn Kernel and get back to your ROM as per their FULL instructions.

Semaphore kernel has recovery, you should be able to just flash over corn back to semaphore. I flashed a gb kernel over semaphore by accident (fat fingers and not paying attention). All I did was reflash semaphore and wiped caches and all was well. Hope it works out for you!!:fingers-crossed:

I was on stock rom and stock karnel... i flashed the kernal using odin, before that i tried to get in to recovery via a market app "rom manager" booted in to recovery just fine (with very limited recovery options though) i rebooted my phone (it rebooted just fine) and while on stock rom i turn off the phone and turn it back on then it got stuck 1st on at&t screen then on galaxy s screen, then i installed the corn karnal now its not stucking on at&t screen but stucking on corn karnal screen every time and not going onwards...
set is going into download mod and going in to old recovery as well by key combinations but the recovery can't detect the external sd card! thats y i though that semaphore karnel has advance recovery so i could try that!
if there is any way you can tell if i could put the zip rom in internal sd card please do let me know... that would be a thunder help!

When you say stock, which stock are you talking about? Froyo or GB? (2.2 and 2.3.5)
If your phone doesn't get pass the boot screens, you'll need to use Odin KK4 to bring it back. That being said, if you're on 2.2, you'll need to flash the bootloaders, if on 2.3.5, don't flash the bootloaders version.
From there, flash Corn kernel, get in recovery and flash the ROM you want to use.
Btw download mode is vol down + power.

Simply listen to me. Get Odin KK4 without bootloaders, flash it and then flash Corn kernel, You'll be fine after that.

Everything is fine but it should be with boot loaders. Or he can not enter into recovery even after flashing corn kernel. I faced the same problem and installed almost every stock rom but problem was solved after installing kk4 with bootloaders.

Flashing bootloaders is dangerous and if already on GB (2.3), he doesn't need to reflash them. Therefor, avoiding any chance of hard-bricking.

Hey! I got big problem, I can't open the recovery mode after updating my CyanogenMod to the latest RC4 version. After that i flashed Semaphore 2.9.25 kernel, and today I can't open recovery anymore After using Vol Up+Home+Power i see semaphore boot animation freezes for like 20 sec, then CM starts.
So what should I do to get into recovery mode again? I don't know if installing nightly updates will work (recovery doesn't work so how it will be updated), maybe using SGS Kernel Flasher will help?
Please help me solve my problem
Flash a rom with Odin
Go back to stock, try upgrade to CM10.1 again.
Alternatively if you want to learn how to use it you could try using ADB to force recovery. There are guides somewhere in these forums. But going back to stock would probably be easier...

Today I accidentally dropped my phone, and after back to home... I tried to open recovery CMW again - and it surprisingly worked so I was able to update my kernel
But thank you for future solutions, I'd further try to flash only kernel via Odin

So yeah i bricked my phone, its stuck in a damn bootloop and i cannot enter recovery no matter which one i install.
I even flashed stock rom via odin and tried both flashing twrp and cwm, none worked, whichever rom is installed i still get in a damn bootloop and i cannot boot into recovery (blank screen).
Is there anything i can do for my phone?
Thank you all in advance
Try to flash Dorimanx Kernel using Odin (v9.34 for JB Roms, v8. for Stock Roms)
I will upload a guide tomorrow for people facing problems with their recovery. I will edit this when its finished.

can you tell me what did you do to caused that ? or do you have download mode ?
anyway it seems to me a hard break . probably you messed your boot . you got two options:
1.use "RescuePDA" (you can find the thread and every thing in galaxy mini II development)
2.take it to a service center

Download mode is the only thing that works, as i said recovery wont boot and any rom i install is getting into a bootloop. ((
I used triangle away, the problems started after that. I had cwm and cm 10.1 08/18
Is there any way to factory reset using odin?
I have the same exact problem.
I follow the discussion with interest.

Zeruel, i seem to have somehow fixed the problem, however not entirely.
I downloaded some random recovery rom, flashed it with odin and wiped everything (cache, factory reset, dalvik cache), and reinstalled cm 10.1.
Then i flashed back the thewhisp's recovery and booted into cm with no problem.
However now i cannot boot into recovery using volume+- and home and power button, i have to boot to it from the cm.
That i dont know how to solve, but at least my phone works fine
Thank you, but I think to have solved the problem with RescuePDA.
A big thanks go to dlb4all, thank you a lot mate.

no problem man . my pleasure :good:
Here is what I did with the phone:
- Flashed JVU via odin
- Flashed CF-Root with CWM via odin
- Wipe EVERYTHING
- Flashed semaphore kernel for 4.3 via CWM
- Rebooted to CWM
- Flashed CM 10.2 stable via CWM
- Flashed semaphore again
- Flashed gapps
And now the phone keeps rebooting to CWM everytime I power it on. It never goes to Android, it always boots to CWM. Any ideas?
Of course, i tried to flash CM / semaphore / gapps again but it keeps doing the same. Flashing only CM does not work either

By the way it seems to work after flashing a samsung stock ROM but it does the same everytime I try to install CM. And I have done it before, I don't understand this ;_; (I decided to start over again because I was having trouble to downgrade from 4.4)
Have you find a solution? I faced the same problem and after reading half of the day on this forum I managed to find a solution to go back to stock and restore the phone functionality. Now I only have to flash CWM/TWRP and start to flash custom ROMs again
Let me know if you still need help.
The correct procedure to come to any ROM is from GB>ICS>JB>KK. So make sure that you are following the correct procedure
