I've had my htc one for less than a week and noticed screen lift on the sides. Appears the glue is not sticking good. Anyone else have this issue? i'm going to go return it at best buy and get a new one. see if i get the same issue.

So here's the deal. My screen bezel began to loosen a bit, so I restored the phone and took it into the sprint store to get it replaced through insurance. They proceeded to tell me that having the screen bezel clips break was a "cosmetic problem" and that would not be covered by insurance. If you don't know what I am talking about, there is a gap between the chrome bar and the gray plastic on the side of the phone. It is big enough to see the backlight from the screen, and I repeat "cosmetic". The tech decided it would be a good idea to just crank the torx screws as tight as can be, yet that didn't solve the issue. Anyone have any ideas on how I can actually get a replacement phone? The guy made a note on the account that I was having that problem so that he could notify me of another returned hero with a decent top, so I don't think going to another store will work.
Any common problems? Can overclock till meltdown?
So I just got the IS before the weekend and Ive been setting it up and playing with it ever since.
Now, what I've noticed, is a small piece of silver metal stuck between the screen and the phone body. Its on the left side approx in the middle of the screen. I though it was a scratch, but I can clearly se the plastic sandwitched between the glass and the body bein bent. So,does anybody else have this? Is it part of the phone, some sensor or touch adapter/device? I dont really think so but just thought I'd check wi you guys.
Definitely a production fault.

I'm quite interested as I have a faulty touchscreen, and I'm wondering how long it will take for a repair.
I've only had my unit a day and decided to give it a quick clean to remove the finger prints using nothing more that breathing on it and a spectacle cloth. Whilst doing this I found what at first appeared to be 2 finger prints on the left edge of the screen which did not appear to be coming off. I then tried a damp cloth followed by glasses cleaner and then a dab of washing up liquid. None of which seem to have any affect. The strange thing is that you cannot feel them or hardly see them after cleaning but as soon as you run your finger over them the grease from your finger makes them visible like a finger print. Also running a damp cloth over them makes them visible until the moisture evaporates and then they are gone. I have been incredibly careful and know I could not have caused them but was wondering if anyone else has this issue or how I can remove these marks without causing damage as my unit is perfect except for a tiny bit of screen lift which doesn't really bother me.
My Nexus also has a issue like this, but it's like a big smear near the top or the screen. I am 100% sure that I never dropped anything on it
It looks like a big fingerprint mark, but it won't come off.. like your issue
Luckily I'm getting it replaced anyway as the screen lift issue has returned, but I still would have got a replacement anyway due to this new issue.
Sounds like a problem with the anti-finger print coating that's normally used on phone/tablet screens.
I don't think you'll be able to fix it, if you obsess over it and keep trying to clean it off chances are you'll make it worse. Either get over it or exchange it.
Perhaps it's a fingerprint on the underside of the glass. I'm not sure. Hard to tell without pics.
Maybe a screen protector will cover this up. Can you feel it when you run your fingers over it?

Nah it is on top of the screen, you can sorta feel it - it is slippier than the rest of the screen. If I breath on it you can see that it is not affected whereas the rest of the screen goes grey.
I am really careful with plastic screens, but this one is glass. I squirt some Windex on a tissue and use that. Works great - but use at your own risk. Ops problem sounds like a bit of silicone on the glass. Use an appropriate solvent. Squirt nothing at the tablet - use a slightly moist tissue.

I also bought mine from Tesco Direct, phoned them up and then sent me a replacement the next day! (this was for the first replacement)
The replacement they sent me now has the screen lift and this screen issue. I phoned them and they said they are out of stock atm, but when it's in stock they will send me another replacement - they also gave me a £20 refund! :laugh:

So I bought an mEdge cover from Walmart and I also installed a clearcoat screen protector on the tablet just after receiving my tablet on Dec12. A week ago I started noticing a faint purple "shadowy, airbrushed" line in the middle of my screen when there's a bright white background on. At first I thought it had to do with the screen protector, but no matter how much I'd wipe the screen free of smudges I would still notice the airbrushed line.
I then suspected that it had to be the cover since the line matched up with the middle crease of the cover's flap and wondered if the magnets had anything to do with it. The magnets were located at the edge of the flap so that was ruled out.
I then searched online and came across a forum with a person having this problem on his phone, and he found out that it was due to pressure being applied to the screen from the case, and that he was notified that was a common problem with LCD screens. That pressure to the LCD would cause a permanent distortion and leave a "phantom" outline of where the pressure was being applied.
I'm so bummed now, because according to what I've read there is no fix for this, besides changing the screen or just getting a replacement.
It's not that bad right now, since you have to "look" for it but it's noticeable on a white screen and it bothers me. I love the cover and think it's one of the best for the Nexus 7 but I'm afraid it might make it worse. Does anyone else have this problem? and what kind of cover are you using? Finally, I know I've said it's permanent, but does anyone have a solution for this besides changing the screen or getting a new Nexus 7?

I ended up buying 3 Droid 4's before I found one I was happy with. So, I now have 2 spare ones:
1) Very nice condition but has dusk under the screen
2) Poor conditon, crackly phone speaker but nice screen
So, I was wondering whether to try and get the dusk from under the screen.
Or maybe I should try and swap the 2 screens around?
Or am I likely to end up ruining both of them, and I'd be better off just selling them both as they are?

Once you detach the glue from the glue that's holding the glue in place for the back casing, the phone actually comes apart fairly easily. Though, putting the back casing back on, I've always found that the bottom edge will never sit flush again; easily trimmed off with a razor blade. Otherwise the edge will protrude and catch on things.
The dust might not actually be dust; while shopping for my LG Ally, I bought one that appeared to have dust behind the glass and opened it to clean it, only to find out that the inside facing was actually covered in weird pockmarks. It was the strangest factory defect I'd ever seen.
If it's fairly uniform "dust", you might have the same thing going on. One way to find out. You'll need T5, T4 and possible T3 screwdrivers/bits to break it all the way down to the screen.
The only things I'd say to really look out for:
There are two soft spongey adhesive pads that the keyboard-facing side of the mainboard uses to stick to the rest of the phone. Try not to tear these up when pulling the mainboard out. One is next to the power button, one is the same place on the opposite end. If you do rip up the one on the power button end, the button might not line up properly anymore (it barely does to begin with, thanks Motorola) and it'll be harder to activate.
Don't try to remove the screen glass from the bezel/frame unless you have a solid plan to reattach it. I've heard it's a real nuisance to get it to adhere properly again. Fair enough if the bezel is torn up but the screen is nice, just be aware that things may get really annoying.
I would say just flip the screens around. I replaced a digitizer in a Photon Q and it was a pain (still isn't working for me either).
