Hi, anyone with a Somy Xperia Z have an issue with the voice recorder?
I can't film videos with the camera cause it gets an error. I can't use TrackID or Shazam, it continually asked to listen again, I can't carry out speech to text on messaging or on google now app! Anything voice related for any app is not working. Help needed!
I've reinstalled the phone from scratch with PC companion and repaired it but its happened again. Could it be an app using the recorder/microphone and its stopping everything else?
Me too
I have experienced this kind of problem while trying to use Google now's voice search, it works the first time, but if I switch to another app and try again it gets an error.
Voice recorder stops working, too
I noticed that if I kill Google now app, the microphone starts working again

Having the exact same problem. I've turned off Google Now but I still cannot use recorder or microphone-based apps.
Very frustrating.
Can anyone help? Please?

I am having this exact same issue, I think the common denominator is Google Now ...which process do you kill? I tried stopping 'Google Search' but that didn't resolve it. Always requires a reboot.
Does anyone know if this is limited only to Xperia Z phones? I imagine it would be more widespread if not.
deinstall the last google search update
Hi.
It seems to be a problem of the last update from Google Search (Google now).
I just deinstalled the last update from Google Search apk and everything works like before.
I hope they fix it with the next update of Google Search.

Some people are just idiots, if you can't or won't help there is no need say anything to show us your ignorance, just ZIPPED!!
Well, to the point
I almost went crazy with this problem, and happens in two differents phones, Ion and A.
suddenly inexplicably the mic for voice record and video record stop working right?
with lots of patience, root and eight complete backups I have found the guilty (at least for me),
Was not google, sony or the firmware.
Its a small and useful app called.....................MAGICJACK, as soon as its installed and their services started, the mic problem came out, my solution was disable, freeze or uninstall this app and the mic work again.
Maybe some of you guys have the same app or another for internet calls like this, try and let me know if helps
video call and record voice problem fix
Yep you right, just uninstall the magicjack app and you will be fine, but anyone can tell other similars like magicjack
Yeap!
4.2.2 firmware fix this issue, so when you update you can use these kind apps again
If you still running 4.1.2 and you can root your Xperia™ then dont uninstall the app just freeze it all the time except when you need it

Hello,
I downloaded from the play store the app called Line. Its a chat app. But sometimes out of nowhere it freezes get black and a pop up say "the application won't respond shut the application now"?. Then i click OK, and it will close. After that i can open it normal and works again.
Any idea why this happens and a solution? I reinstalled it, and restarted my phone several times...but still getting this...

if this is the only app with problems then email the app developer and report your problems, he may be able to fix them

I had the same problem with line.
but I have found similar problems with other similar applications as indoona and other chat applications. Now I'm trying the new hangouts2

I have sent an email to them, they replied me back but i think this is a automatic message. I could figure this out myself too...i am dissapointed though.
If an application won't respond can this damage the inside of the phone or damage the processor? I really need this app...
First my message and second the one replied back to me:
I have downloaded the latest version of Line on my new Sony Xperia Z1. Many times each day i get a crash. When opening the app it will freeze and turn into black. A pop up appears saying the application won't respond. Then i need to click OK to shut the application down. I tried reinstalling it and deleting caches but this didn't help. Can this please be fixed?

In the last software update does not work anymore voice recording, voice search does not work and the voice dictation of text messages. He tells me (you can not reach google at the moment) but it works for calls. I tried doing a reset by update service and PC Companion, but I have not solved. Can anyone help me?
Don't know what's happening precisely, taking a guess.
Update your apps on play store
Update google play services(hangout might be giving you a notification) or just search for it.
Use a voice recorder, check if it is recording properly.
Might be a hardware issue.

Thank you for having responded. I had already tried this solution but to no avail. I reinstall the firmware via flashtool is 10.4.B.0.569 I solved the problem. Surely it is a software problem. We look forward to improvements with 4.4.2 hoping for a complete resolution of errors.:good:
I updated my phone this weeked and the Voice search and dictation is working for me. Did it had to do something with the internet connectivity? Just guessing, coz I get the same error message when on slow GPRS connection.:crying:
hi guys,
since the update to the 4.3 firmware, i'm not getting push notifications for facebook, skype etc. k9 mail and sms apps work just fine. i've added my accounts properly (google facebook etc.). tried disabling timescape and the sony social crap but that didn't help. i have no such problems on aftermarket roms (omni, cm).
i also downloaded push notification tester, and i can confirm that nothing happens after step 3 (trigger notification).
am i the alone with this? if not, is there a fix?

well, i always disable that invasive crap, but yeah, i did a test with play services enabled and updated - no luck.
btw it's also disabled on my cm10.1 rom and i have no problems receiving notifications.
UPDATE: seems to work on the new 9.2.A.1.199 firmware. i don't know if it's because of the new firmware or something i've changed (i've only restored user apps+data), but google play services is definitely disabled. ^^

Well this is smth new. I have just bought my new z3c and its working all fine. Im installing apps no prblm, until suddenly the phone won't install anymore! The page to install the app comes up and the cancel button works but the install button doesnt click!!
I can only think to blame AVg bcuz I had activated it just before this prblm happened. And there is no.deactivate option on AVG.
UPDATE: restarted phone and killed AVg; prblm still exists
Anyone?
Please?

Yes, the only solution I came to was to reset the phone. Not the best option since I had to do everything I had before again. Anyways, it's okay now.

I don't think that would be relevant to the problem. The problem is in parsing the apk.

I once found that if I limit background data on an app called "Media" (in settings, data usage), I could not download any apps over mobile data from Google Play as long as the background data of that app was limited. It may not have been the case for the OP but who knows?
The problem is back again!
The problem is back again!!
And Sony doesn't even have online support and it's page doesn't even address the problem.

Nope. The only solution I found was to be patient and wait. After a couple of hours, or a day or two I try pressing the Install button once again and it works. I just let it off my mind for some time until the night, or the next (couple of) day(s). Interestingly, this isn't a problem if I'm installing directly from Google Play which installs the app itself. That's why I think it could be a security module or something.

I have screen filter, but I reckon this problem existed from before installing screen filter. Plus, I reset my phone once which also means deleting Screen Filter, but the problem still exists.

Some apps interferes with the installation process, like LUX, or some screen filtering app.

Uninstall updates to google playstore app. The reason it worked when you reset your phone was it reset all apps back to their factory settings. Then apps would install until google play updated itself again. So try just uninstalling updates to google play, worked for me. Good luck!
when ever I get a phone call I get a contact force close
Me too.
Same here!

Same here. I even cleared the data for the contact storage and contacts thru the apps setting and it did not fix it.
Another me too. Doesn't happen every to be (I don't think...), but does happen.
Same here man! All ouuta nowhere!
I'm having the same issue. Not every time but I notice it when somebody calls me. Are any of you rooted on a debloated image? I figured that was the case for me since the one I'm using has stripped all Verizon and non essential apps out.

Same problem here, non-rooted. Tried clearing Contacts and Google+ (on advice of another forum), no luck. Still crashes every time I place or receive a call.

The force close started 2 weeks ago. I have the same apps installed no new ones. I wonder if google or Motorola updated something in the background or server side. Who knows...
Three days have past and no force close. I havent uninstalled anything or cleared contact cache. Anyone still experiencing the force close or did it go away?
Same here! Incredibly annoying.
I fixed mine by disabling Google+. Ever since I uninstalled it I haven't had any more force closes of contacts.

The problem with disabling is if you use Google Photos to backup photos, your stuck with the error because disabling Google+ removes Photos.
