[Q] Can't connect Xperia Z to my PS3 via bluetooth - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
As the title suggests, I can't connect my Xperia Z with my PS3 via bluetooth. My PS3 doesn't see my phone and my phone doesn't see my PS3. I triple checked everything and I made sure that visibility is turned on and everything else. I was able to connect my old Infuse4G without a hitch but I find it funny/strange that I can't do the same with my Xperia Z. Is anyone else suffering from this issue? What can I do!

Same here I have tried and failed, you would of though both being Sony it would be easy, I turned visibility on and put it right to the ps3 and still had nothing

It Works with usb otg Wired.
The next update should bring Bluetooth connectivity which the Xperia Sp has.

connect PS3 GAMEPAD
first. you need go to playstore and download sixasix compatible!!! you will see your Bluetooth address of your phone! and then repair it, want to repair, need download SixaxisPairTool, and setup it. after setup, you will change Bluetooth address of Gamepad PS3, change like as your Bluetooth address of your phone, example: a0:b4:f3:00:00. if all is ok! you need buy app sixasix controller. and change button on gamepad or touch button on your phone! good luck !

[Q] Wireless HDMI Stream

hi,
i already got the mhl adapter for micro usb to hdmi, thats working fine,
but i there a solutuion to do this wireless.
i dont only want to stream videos or audio, i want to have the full homescreen streamed.
the reason is, i want to connect an external hdd via usb
thank you
easiest way is probably ipad2/iphone4s with apple TV2 on IOS5
check this out for android
http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
which does the same thing except in place of Apple TV2, you need a PC there.
t for respond, but I need to connect via USB when using this method

I think DLNA is your only option there. You need a TV with dlna support.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
but with dlna I only can stream movies or pictures or audio
still need to stream the home screen or games

Gamepads with Touchpad

I am fully aware that you can get a Official PS3 control pad to work on Android.
Using the USB method of contecting devices does anyone have a USB gamepad working?
Edit: If so which gamepads?
You can simply connect via Bluetooth
USB not Bluetooth

He's talking about using the OTH method, rather than the Bluetooth method.
As for any working, I have no idea, since I haven't made an OTG setup for my tablet yet. It's on my to-do list.

Yes I am talking about the OTG method. In my current location I really struggle to get anything so any advice on what I should buy to play games?
After checking all the threads I could find for those using various OTG setups, there do not seem to be any game controllers working that way. BT is going to be your best option here and there are several game pads that will work well with the touchpad.

I'm not sure specifically about the TP, but on my Nexus S, as long as you had ICS and a kernel that supported OTG, then there were a number of game pads you could use through OTG such as a wired 360 controller and some Logitech ones.
You can check the link in my sig for more info.
I'll try and test this out on my TP sometime this week when I get a chance.

But, does it require root? And does it connect through Bluetooth or USB?

Pretty sure it won't work. Wireless 360 controllers do not send a signal through the USB charging cable. Only power. Same reason you can't use a wireless controller on the PC without buying the wireless transmitter thing that they don't make anymore.

Yup confirming this is correct. Didn't know they stopped making it, good thing I got one.

They still make the wireless transmitter but you need to buy the controller with it.
Not sure if I'm missing something here but I've picked up a USB OTG cable today. If I plug in my PS3 controller it just flashes, I don't seem to be be able to do anything. What am I doing wrong guys?
EDIT
Ignore that, working fine.

Do games natively support controllers, must they be mapped, or do you need an app of some kind to get it to work?

It depends on the game. Dead Trigger and GTA 3 have native gamepad support, but NOVA 3 doesnt.
Sixaxis was updated last night works amazing as always. And dead trigger has native support for sixaxis?

Try this mapping from the S3 for NOVA3. Let me know how it works for you.
I can't remember where I got it from but it works great on my S3. You might have to config for larger screen though.

Ps3 Bluetooth connection

I have recently rooted my phone and tried to use the sixaxis controller app to connect my ps3 controller.
I have tried to do this with two devices and have different problems, the first is my Gemini Devices JoyTab GEM10313BK tablet rooted and running jellybean which will connect it through USB but not Bluetooth, the second is my galaxy s i9000 rooted running cm10 which connects the controller through Bluetooth but gives no response when the controller buttons are pressed, if anyone has any suggestions I would be very greatful as I have been trying to sort this for days. Thanks in advance.

Sorted the problem for the galaxy s now but not the tablet, its showing in the Bluetooth settings as playstation(R) 3 controller but when I try to pair it says it can't communicate

Wow if you will be able to use your Ps3 controller on galaxy s please tell me how, I liked to use one to for gaming on psx and on n64 emulators: )
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Probably the easiest way is to do it is connecting the controller by usb to the computer, and manually set which Bluetooth address the controller should connect to.
There's a program for it I can't remember the name of...
@mintiicecream
There's an app or two in the market for pairing sixaxis and android devices in the market, it's quite easy, and it works.

Have you set up a layout profile in the sixaxis app? That's for the sgs that apparently seems to be connecting correctly; the app isn't plug and play.

[Q] PS3 DualShock 3 Controller

Greetings,
Thinking of buying a PS3 DS3 controller for gaming on my Xperia Z, viewing on my Samsung 42inch HDTV via MHL adaptor.
I have searched this forum and Google in general but cannot find an answer to my question.
Can anyone who has the DS3 set up with their Xperia Z tell me this..
As well as using the DS3 for gaming, can you also navigate the Android OS using the controller? Can you use it in non-game apps like YouTube, Play Store, Play Music etc?
Would be cool if I could :good:
Thanks
I had played it only for a while, just for fun and yes, I was completely able to navigate whole OS using DS3. I hadnt checked if it does work with youtube etc, Im guessing it does.
