Hi everyone, I'm new for this forum. I never used android devices before, now i wanna try this so i'm gonna buy a galaxy tab 8.9 i957 att from Ebay.
I'm currently using iphone 5 att, so is there any way to switch a simcard from an iphone and put it on galaxy tab and make phone calls, text and receive sms/mms? I plan to buy it online but unable to find anywhere to get a new one, so i tried on ebay and found one with moderate used for 160$, is it a good deal for this one? Before open this topic, i've done a lot of research but my question is still unclear, so anyone can help me out with it?
I've never used an iPhone, but a SIM card is a SIM card and should work in the tab. Not sure on the price I haven't looked at prices.
Edit, make sure the SIM card is the right size

It's a nano sim, slightly smaller than tab simcard, but i will take an adapter from ebay to convert the iphone simcard to fit with the tab, no problem, but my main question is will the tab will be working like the phone instead? Making call, send/receive sms/mms???

Not out of the box. And I've tried to figure out how with no success. And if it can work it would be thru Bluetooth, not the speaker.

ok, i understand. So i'm really want to have a combination device between tablet and cellphone, i sometimes use to make a phone call but not much, so do you have any recommendation? I'm quite impressed of samsung devices but it could be any brand, i don't mind.

I've seen that they said it could be calling but at least need a bluetooth or headset to talk normally, is it right? There are so many models of galaxy tab in us and i have no luck to find out which one will be a best tablet+phone. I don't want a galaxy note 2, is there any recommendation?

Apologies if this is the wrong area to ask for this but not sure where else to post, kind of a niche product.
Anyway In a failed effort to root my AT&T galaxy tab 8.9 4g LTE I'm now at a point where I can only get to download mode. Recovery and normal boot just give me a black screen. If anyone else picked one up and can get a odin flashable recovery I would owe you huge!
I know its kind of a niche product and I probably wont have much look finding anyone but its worth a shot right
Since you're still in the remorse period I'd just play dumb and exchange it at an AT&T store.

That is my backup plan. I would like to fix this one if possible, it appears to be perfect and having had quality issues in the past would just rather not play the lotto. If I could find out how to to make a odin flashable image myself maybe I could just take my laptop into the att store and use the demo unit.... hrrmmm.. off to google.
I just picked up an 8.9 LTE the other day. I will try and get an Odin dump for you if i can figure this beast out.

I have tried several ways of getting a copy off of it but I have failed for now. I am going to load up a Linux distro on one of my laptops and do a bit of learning. If I can get anywhere with it if will post back here and let you know.

It most certainly does work on T-Mobile...but you are only capable of speeds no greater than 150-200kbps...at best. So 3-4 times the speed of dial-up = slow, slow, slow...

Well best of luck to you then. Not sure why your going to an iphone if you "need something to mod bigtime" though. Is there that much you can do to mod an iphone? Maybe I'm just uninformed. Also, sorry, I can hijacked your thread didn't I...
Sorry i wasnt very clear as i was driving lol. But the things that i like to do most with my phones im unable to do on this droid 4. One of my older phones was the htc hd2 and ran the core cell rom which was badass. Being that d4 will never see an unlocked bootloader means that modding will be minimum. I may be misunderstanding so please correct me if im wrong.

There isn't actually that much that can be done with an iphone. Basically you have custom themes, jailbroken apps and free apps(if you're into that kind of thing) not much else.
As a motorcyclist, seriously, don't do it. I don't care if you wind up with an iPhone or a Droid4, but I don't want to wind up on your hood.
Honestly speaking i dont text and drive. I do service work and will usually wait till my next stop to even read them much less type and drive. I was just being silly. And i too ride. So everyone plz chill.

The MicroSim on the Droid is a LTE SIMcard. The SIM Slot on the iphone is only for use abroad. The iphone does not have 4G LTE capabilities. You might want to consider a new support forum to get all your questions answered on your iphone. Android power users don't like to deal with dumbphones.

My dad purchased a new Galaxy S III mini online. It arrived with a European charger and in a foreign language. Which one I don't know. Anyway, he managed to get it switched over to English but apparently it will only connect to 2G. I had him check under networks and he says GSM is the only option.
It's this a firmware issue I could correct?
Getting info from him has been like pulling eye teeth and he is well over 1500 miles away and only slightly less in years.
Thanks in advance.

S4 pretty much. Maybe a Note II.
Quick question, are you taking the SIM card out at any time, or are you not touching it? Because I only ever had problems with mine after I removed it from my phone and put it back in.
I also have the sim card error but it comes and goes every once and a while. When ever I get it it usually goes away after 15-20 min. Even with all the issues the HTC One has I would never trade it in for any of the phones available atm.

Same. I haven't had the sim error, does it just deny LTE? If thats all it does I'd suffer for a bit (if you don't have a time restraint) and see what the Nexus5 announce says. The word is it has the CDMA bands for Sprint use and I've been itching to get my hands on a true nexus phone.

I've never touched it. My thought I'd that I shouldn't have to do quick temporary fixes on the phone. That and possibly giving Sprint a reason to deny liability.

Have you tried updating your Service profiles?
Just contact Sprint via chat, and ask them to re activate your device. They should ask you for your IMEI number.
Make sure they ask you for it. I had this happen to me after I got my phone's board replaced. The chat guy kept telling me to get a new SIM card, and I kept telling him it was pretty much the same phone, and exactly the same card. So yeah.

From what I remember when I worked there it had to be a manufacturer defect every time and the 3 swaps have to occur within a 6 month time frame. Not sure if yours fell into that. If they did then your store might be more screwy than others. Or you just weren't upset enough

Seriously? An S3? That doesn't make any sense to me. It should definitely be an S4. When we had the EVO and Epic come out a lot of EVOs had issues and several people were able to do the swap and we got them into Epics. A phone a year older with much lower specs shouldn't qualify as a comparable device.

Scotch tape fixed it for my wife's phone also make sure SIM surface is super clean. My wife's phone had a big greasy finger print on contact side and recurring issues but after scotch taping on plastic side to keep it tight it's fixed. But I never had this issue on mine, I did however blow a speaker and swapped it a month ago.
I wouldn't take another phone over this still.
