Send files via infrared - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
is it possible to send files via the good old infrared?
In my opinion this should be possible, because the Ir-port can send and receive signals, so there should be only the software missing.

Probably yes, but you need someone who can build and app for this
Or a features

casio watch camera ir link to XDA

Can you believe this is something i bought on the basis that it was compatible with the ir link & pocket pc 2002...however what they failed to tell me the website only has drivers for the casiopedia /pocket pc 2002...?
Does anyone know of a subtible driver..? to transfer the pics on the move..?
Are you sure this doesn't work, it was reported on another chat board that the casio cam and xda worked a treat. Did you try the drivers?
Regards
Tim
the drivers won't install to the XDA..?
I did look back on the other chat board for you, but as the other guy was logged in as a guest his email was not available.
Tim
casio watch camera strange
Ive Also got the problem that my watch wont transfer images to the xda.It connec ts fine with the correct device name but image transfer fails.BUT I can transfer images stright to my Nokia 9210 then back to the XDA ok without any modification.WHY Its only using the same IRDA signals the images are not getting modified or even viewed. If anyone could shed some light I would be grateful.BTW the same happens with my normal digital camera...
I found the below site with all the IR codes..
http://www.mgroeber.de/misc/wqvprot.htm
I have emailed them to see if they have any ideas..? no answer as yet...but here's hoping
What drivers did you use..?.. or was it a standard connection
You would think Casio would forgo the Casiopedia only option and open it up to more pocket pc users...it's seem like a missed market to me.
no drivers are neaded to transfer to the 9210 just activate I.R. Same to send the images from the 9210 to the xda just activate I.R. Dam it is so frustrating why do the pictures end up in the xda fine but through the 9210???????
 morning! do you have to use a sep. camera with ir? can't you get one to plug into the xda ?
Hello!
I've been thinking about the same thing, but transferring from my digital camera Casio QV-3000 ExIr. But I also found out the same thing, that it's not working..
The thing is: On an ordinary PC with for example win2000, microsoft has included the IrTranP protocol, but on the PocketPC platform they only included the IRDA itself... so we need a program that supports the IrTranp thing. I found that Casio-thing, and it's for PPC, but it wont install... And I've tried other programs as well, but haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I'm thinking about coding one myself, but don't really have time to.. Maybe we can make the Casio-sw work? Or maybe someone here on this web-site has the IrTranp-sw available for our XDA? Or we can write Microsoft and ask them if they can include it in their OS... I am sure it can't be very difficult, because I had it on a PSION, and it's also, as you say, included in the Nokia Communicator (shame on you Microsoft for forgetting this...)

Fred

GPS phone security application

Hey there,
Whats a good application that utilizes the GPS when my ATT Tilt is missing or stolen?
For ex, if someone steals my phone, I want to be able to find out where it is via GPS (through SMS)?
Anyone have any recommendations based on what they have used (or use now)?
It would be nice if this software had an option to manually send GPS coordinates via SMS.
Thanks!
Hi:
I use WIMP (Where Is My Phone).
I have found it to be the best. There is another option from Carty, but they charge extra for the GPS feature and other features cost extra too.
With WIMP, it will send you the person's new phone number if the SIM is changed, you can also send a secret text message to your phone, which will then text you back the phone's GPS coordinates. WIMP does include the GPS option in the purchase price etc...

Anyway, hope this helps
i'm using mobile justice, it's opensource

OBEX File transfer not supported

hi,
I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and I wanted to do OBEX file transfer through bluetooth by accessing my HTC S730 drive (I am able to do in my old Nokia 6280). However, I failed to do so. Do HTC S730 does not provie OBEX file transfer? or, is there any other way? I will hoping your warm reply. Thanks
OBEX
Do you look close enought? There is a option named OBEX File Transfer in Bluetooth-Options, enabling the Bluetooth-Explorer and share files in specific folder...
You have to take a look into your BT-Settings...and enable incoming beams...and dont ask me...
I dont know too much about it myself but if the phones BT is more up to date than your old phone you might need to update the software you are using to push?
Dont think Nokia runs WM so it might have functioned a little differently in their OS...

The value on the registry of my phone is 1. BTW, I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 and I am having difficulty on accessing my HTC S730 drive through my computer. But I am able to do same thing to my older Nokia phone. So my query is whether such feature is supported by WM6 or not? If my question is not clear, I will elaborate it further. Thanks for the reply.
What do you want to do?
What is it that you want to do? Browse the files on your S730 using Bluetooth? Send/Recieve specific files?
Since it is Linux and not Windows the phone might not be syncing properly, or might not be set up to browes the way your after through blue tooth alone...

Help get improvements for documents2go

Anybody who can do this please help to spam dataviz about their documents2go app. It currently only supports ms proprietary formats, which severely limits interoperability. Support for more formats, particularly OpenDocument ISO/IEC 26300:2006 (i.e. openoffice, lotus symphony, etc.).
Anybody who has a moment, please add a suggestion to their feedback form here: http://www.dataviz.com/eforms/feedback/feedback_form.html requesting this. The feedback is free and can only improve the program, even if you don't regularly use anything non-ms, wouldn't it be nice to know that if someone sends you an ODT that you'll be able to open it?
You do know with open office yoru able to save them using the ms proprietary format? My only issue is the price of it.
That doesn't help AT ALL and is in fact completely IRRELEVANT to this topic since I am NOT asking for you to tell me what to do, I AM MAKING a suggestion on what YOU can do to help *everyone*.
case:
1) you have a server with hundreds/thousands of documents and need to access them remotely and be able to open them and do NOT want to have duplicate copies of each file.
2) you receive a document by email and therefore don't have access to your desktop word processor to convert
3) conversion to/from proprietary ms format loses too much of the proprietary nonsense that the resulting converted document is garbage.
Agreed. Done.
Nice post. I hope more people get on board.
Thank you

[Q]t-mobile wifi calling on unlocked device

Good afternoon everyone,
I picked up a Nokia Lumia 830 (RM-985) to use with T-Mobile. It's a good phone, but one of the reasons that I bought it was to play with the software on it.
My current challenge is to install and make functional the T-Mobile Wifi Calling feature.
I had a Lumia 925 before, but it's toast and gone now unfortunately, so I can't get any information from it.
I modified the registry using vcREG, changing /System/Platform/DeviceTargetingInfo/PhoneManufacturerModelName to RM_892_nam_tmous_201. My logic behind this was that possibly the app operated like the Insider Preview app, and allowed only phones with a certain list of names to download and set it up. This didn't work (surprise)
Doing some more research, it seems that one of the potential (and only) ways to get Wi-Fi calling would be to flash a custom T-Mobile ROM onto the phone because there are some things 'baked in" that allow it to work and function correctly. Outside of that, perhaps it's possible to root the phone and add those files and functionalities in the registry.
THE QUESTION
Where can I get a ROM that will help me achieve this, and is this possible at all?
I don't know about getting a ROM for it, though if you can download one of the TMoUS-specific ROMs you may be able to extract the required files out of the image. The app for WiFi calling is really not the important part; it's just a control interface that interacts with the system service that handles the driver that does WiFi calling. You need the driver/service binaries, the phone needs to trust them (accept their signatures and have them installed in the correct locations), and the relevant service registry keys need to be set.
I haven't done this yet myself, but it's something I want to test. I have a Lumia 1520, so anything I find will probably be workable for you too.

I have the TMOUS 925 FFU file. How do I get in there and where would I look?
I don't usually do anything with ROMs, so I'm not the ideal person to answer this, but I know there are tools to unpack FFUs or convert them to VHDs or something like that. You could also just try 7-Zip (get the latest build, pre-release if they have one); I vaguely remember hearing they were adding support for some ROM image format(s).

And some files from T-Mobile Lumia 635 to get you started...
Did you ever get to add Wifi Calling added to your phone
Where you able to get Wifi calling on your phone? If it was useful, how or where did you get the TMOUS 925 FFU file? What are the steps involved?
