Back them up to internal storage via, people>settings>manage contacts>export to SIM or mobile storage. Export then copy the vcf card file to your pc.

I always go the export to internal/sd route, as Google sync sorta sucks sometimes. The majority of the time, it works, buuuuuttttt I've probably added my step mothers number to my phone 20 times over the past year or so and it never syncs.

Any way to migrate music data from internal memory to external?

So I have stored a lot of music using the default google music app and its gone to the internal data and I just received a memory card and want to change the musics' storage location to the new card but the only option I can find is to change the location of saving for when using Windows Media Sync. Is there any way to move the music and have the music app recognize the new location? I am rooted btw

The app will recogonise the music on either of the sd cards.

Use a file manager like Astro, and copy and paste the folder?
Sent from my XT862 using XDA App
If nothing else works, connect your phone to your computer for mass usb storage. On PCs it may not recognize both sd cards, but on my Mac it does, and I simply transfer things from one disk to the other that way. Got any friends with Linux or Mac?

This is the method that puts it where you want it to be.
The next step I go to is to tell any program that I am going to use to save files to use /sdcard-ext/-insert your folder here- so my files go where I want them to.

If you have lots of files, it is better to do it through usb connection. Otherwise, app like Astro file manager is the way to go.

Why isn't Google backing up my WIFI passwords!?

Howdy people...I'm not sure why, but google seems not to ever want to store my wifi passwords. Stock GB..never worked...CM10 doesn't work. I'm currently running the excellent leaked stock ICS...why does google recover everything else but my passwords? (and yes I have the box ticked to enable backups) is there anyway I can explore my account server to retrieve them? The landlord of local is getting racked off with me asking every time I mess about and install a new ROM! Help much appreciated.
Titanium Backup can do it but I don't know if that's in the free version, you can also just make a .txt and put it on your external sd card.
On cm where is the problem to look into data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf file?
And write down the password? LoL...

same here, I use Titanium Backup (pro)
for me it used to work on CM7
but it didn't on the experimental CM9 builds or on CM10
I did sometimes, isn't it?
Don't really know why, but it's the same for me with the automatic app recovery after full wipe.
Sometimes they get restored, sometimes not. Same with the WIFI psswds.
It says during initial screens but it never did seems like bug ...
they've never been recovered with me. I've had the phone for 6months or so.. It's a bit of a pain. I keep flashing new roms but you'd have expected them to sync in the same way as with contacts etc! anyway. It would just be great to know whether it's my phone playing up or my Google account. It has to be one of the two... I'm guessing ill never know as it seems you can't check what is actually stored on the Google server.

This is what I do. It's probably the most reliable way to store your Wi-Fi passwords.

Restoring Whatsapp conversations onto HTC One

Is there any way to restore my old Whatsapp conversations from my Evo 4G LTE onto my HTC One?
Supposedly the conversations are backed up somewhere because the app shows they have been but, upon registering Whatsapp on my new device there is no option to restore them.
Also bear in mind that I cannot insert the micro SD from my old phone onto the HTC One as the latter does not have a SD slot.
I also did not see an option to restore the conversations onto a PC..
Don't really like the "email conversation" option as it's very time consuming and not as practical.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
A little late but all stuff is stored on the sd card under the whatsapp folder. Just move from one sd location to another and it should see it and offer you the option to restore.

How to remove T mobile bookmarks?

Anyone know how the stock browser bookmarks are stored in kitkat? The old method of finding a bookmark file in /data/data... to make the offending bookmarks editable won't work (no such file there).

Thanks for that! I've changed those bookmarks to editable but it looks as though I have to clear the data in the Internet app in order to make the bookmarks deletable. That will wipe out all my other bookmarks. Any idea how to back them up so I don't have to recreate them all again? I tried a couple apps but they failed. Not sure how to do it in Titanium. And where are the user created bookmarks stored?
By the way, why have they made it so difficult to import or export bookmarks? It's not rocket science. Every pc browser allows you to do this. I have spent way too much time recreating bookmarks in android. Not knowing the reason for this it seems completely brain dead to me.

I believe they are backed up in your Samsung account. Mine always reappear when I flash a new Rom. They came over from my Note 3 as well.

Samsung Smart Switch? Transfer apps and app data?

Hey,
I'm looking to swap to Note 7. I've always been accustomed to root and have all my phones backup with Titanium backup. The app allows me to backup all data including the data of each app. I would like to switch to the new Note, but have certain apps which I want to preserve the data for. For example, I used Naver LINE app (chat), Whatsapp, and WeChat which has some chat data which I want to transfer over. With Titanium Backup, I can do this without problem. Will Smart Switch be able to move everything or will it just transfer the app, but I loose the data?
Smart switch has not been able to do this for me. It just copies the app and it takes forever. I have to use helium. But you need to buy the premium version though as the free version is limited.

I set up fresh. Only used smart switch to transfer pics and SMS.

Do you use LINE? Did helium work?
I need to somehow mimic these steps without root
Fast procedure (requires rooted phones)
If you don't remember your LINE PIN code, now is the last chance to change it, LINE will ask for it after you switch. Even if you never set one, it will ask you so better set it now.
Root both of your Android phones, old and new (absolutely required)
Install Titanium Backup (free) on both phones.
On the old phone, make sure LINE is not running, launch Titanium backup, and backup LINE (App+Data).
Copy the Titanium Backup folder (typically /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/) from your old phone to your new phone. It should contain 3 files or so.
On the new phone, install LINE (don't start it yet), launch Titanium Backup and use it to restore LINE (App+Data).
On the new phone, install Root Browser, and use it to copy /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/databases/naver_line to your /sdcard/, then transfer it to a desktop computer (via ADB or email)
Open this file in SQLiteBrowser, go to the Execute SQL tab.
Type delete from setting; then press the Execute button. Save and exit, then copy the file back to /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/databases/naver_line
Start LINE on the new phone and log in. All of your data will be just like you left it.
This restores your friends, chat history, call logs, groups, groups chat history.

All you have to do is use the transfer plug provided with thr note 7 you plug it into a micro usb plug the micro into your old device the usb c adapter and it starts to transfer everything you have on the phone. Doesn't take long depends how many gigs.

text messaging is different than in chat app like line.
I know Helium Premium will do it without root because I have done it before. It restores all data and apps at the same time. It's a great app and in my opinion its comparable to Titanium. I haven't used it in a long time, but it worked like a charm last time when I used it.
It transferred most everything, I was actually impressed. It didn't do my email account and settings, not my app logins, but everything else was just like my note 5.

for the most part it transfer everything. sticky note widgets, yahoo mail app with log in data, phone internal sd card data, call log, txt etc...
settings, ringtone ,alarms etc...
However the cable setup didnt work for me so i ended up using the pc app.
was surprised how everything was back in order
It copy all my apps etc I use a different launcher and I have a backup of that most of the stuff i ise is in my home screen so setup is very easy.

It will copy the apps but the not the data. For example facebook, amazon. It will not restore your login info and you will need to log in again. Same with games. It will not restore your score etc.

I can confirm that the statement above is pretty much correct.
I effectively tried all the transfer methods they have.
1) phone to phone with cable
2) phone to phone via wifi direct connection
3) phone to sdcard to phone via backup to and restore from scard
4) phone to computer to phone via smart switch on a Windows computer

Just like the other guy who made a thread about wifi performance. I would get very slow wifi performance every time I used smart switch. Once I set it up clean I was fine. In the end I decided that smart switch doesn't copy app data anyway so why use it.

Hi guys, I use this thread to tell you my experience with smart switch.
I thinked that this app can backup all the phone settings and all the apps settings..
But.. not?
I have a Galaxy S8 that i had to reset to factory defaults, I have restored backup hoping that all the settings of phone and apps will be restored.. but it has partially restored settings and only the apps (without the related settings)..
What I can do to backup all the settings from phone and apps to avoid losing one hour to manually restore phone when I reset to default?
Thank you a lot.
so is there any way that we dont have to login in all apps again please?
