Am I the only one who feels that HTC One front camera takes grainy photos?

Sorry but I don't think most people would notice as the don't use the front camera for photos

Compared to other smartphone front facing cameras? Absolutely not. Highest quality FFC of any device I've used, imo.

Hi legolas!
In fact the P990's camera has two protective "lenses".
In picture 1 you have the actual camera lens.
In picture 2 there is a plastic transparent cover to protect the actual camera lens, so this should be the only one ever to get scratched and it is easily replaceable.
Hope this was clear (and helpful) for you
The user above me said answered you very good and I think the one that is scratched for you is the Pic. 2 and that needs to be replaced. Hope it helps!

first time we think it is a dust in lens, but if it a real dust it must change a location of photos
and They're think it is a problem in camera censor
I want to know a truth of this problem
who have a problem like this?
It most prob is a dust in the lens or glass assembly itself. Otherwise your sensor has some dead pixels(unlikely).
Shine a torch in the camera and see if you can spot scratches or dust.

Yes, two other people who have already their own thread about this. So search and read would be a good start if you want to join a discussion and get some answers or tips or whatever

What can I do in this case?
Use your T-shirt to wipe the lens a little bit, then try again, and try not to move..!
Is the bootloader unlocked? If yes in order to make things work again you have to flash a custom rom like nakazaki rom or superslim.
What do those icons actually do?
Are there different lenses used with each icon or the image just gets digitally zoomed?
Thanks!

They're just zoom shortcuts? I mean, it saves time rather than scrolling to zoom yourself.

I think they do actually switch between the two different lenses as the original poster suggests

The second camera is automatically activated once you go past 2X zoom, if the required conditions are met (Focal distance and brightness I think) so technically you're both right, tapping the button will switch cameras (if conditions are met) but only because it also sets the zoom to 2X.
You can test by covering one of the lenses and changing how bright whatever the camera is looking at.
I have looked with the search tool but can't find a thread where people post their micro pics, is there one set up?
You mean macro photography?
My fiance's diamond ring x30. Needs a good polish lol.

I'm assuming they use "micro photography" because of the optics' magnification. Macro doesn't normally use magnification?
