[Q] Searching for 100% OEM screen replacement for XZ - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I accidentally dropped my XZ and - as it is in those situations - it dropped right on the pointy edge of my desk! I ended up with completely broken screen Of course that I have removed the anti-shatter film which might prevent edge of my desk to make a hole in the screen stupid!!!) and applied olephobic screen protector which teared down like it wasn't there.
Now, I looking to buy replacement screen. It has to be 100% original Sony. I don't want any cheap replacement. I found 2 stores and I'm not sure weather it is original.
Store 1
Store 2
Did someone bought in the past any replacement screen for SONY flagships, and from which store? Please advise me from which store to buy the screen.
Thank you.. Very sad XZ owner

The clues in the name OEM Sony Xperia Z L36h LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly, but I would go with the first site as you can verify the site (on right of page), the other one I'm dubious about.

Yeah I red OEM, but this is the cheapest screen assembly on the web! I'm little suspicious about authenticity of this site. Did someone bought screen from it?
Also are prices dropping with time? I understand that XZ is new on the market and there are few replacement parts for it, so they are expensive now. What do you think how long will screen hold its current price?

Source for replacement screens?

Checking to see if anyone knows of or has a source (other than eBay) for screen replacements for the focus. I've got a badly cracked screen that I'd like to replace, but samsung direct wants $156 and the cheapest on ebay is $98.xx coming from overseas. Everyone I found via google is in the $120's give or take now as well.
Kindof kicking myself for not picking one up when I had the 10% off ebay coupon and there were US sources at $98.
Just bought 2 screens from a wholesaler. Installed one and its working great. Need sim card replacement tray now. Can't find them anywhere. If anyone has a link please let me know.

I'd like to know where you got the screens too.
www.wholesalegadgetparts.com, US wholesaler, $99.00 bucks, BBB rated etc... I just ordered one.
******** UPDATE, this seller is legit. Fast shipping, and the new digitizer/screen is flawless.
How about some info on disassembly and replacement?
So, if your 2 year old is like mine, he's quite efficient at shattering your phone's screen. SO, I went online and found a replacement screen and set sbout installing it myself. I make no claim at any sort of electrical know-how... Damn it Jim, I'm a med student not an electrician. But I do enjoy my gadgets. Anyway, I went online and found some you-tube videos and successfully changed out the screen! Woo-Hoo! I used a hybrid of the two videos as one of them seemed a little too, much but it had a good rebuild sequence.
The first video has a good description of how to remove the screen (I didn't use the hair dryier and it worked just fine), and the second shows how to put it back. The second video should also be good to show how to replace other thinsg (camera, etc.).

I hope this helps people out there make their own replacements a success!
I have a cracked glass, the LCD and digitizer are fine. I have found someone that sells the outer glass for $16. My question is if I can get the digitizer off the old glass and onto the new one.
I honestly don't want to spend $100 on a screen replacement when I can buy a slightly used one for $150...

On ebay is 12dlls the glass, somebody told me that they fix it in a mall were i am from (Mexico) they heat the screen to disolve the glue but i'm not sure about this. The total of the price should be like 35dlls the replacement.

Zagg's Invisible Shield

Anyone bought it yet ?
I did, applied it, but to me it seems too small for the screen itsself, it's far from being completely (almost I mean) covered
It's even smaller than the pre-applied protector ?

Hi,
I have and mine is too small also.
I have never used this before, but my friend who works in a mobile phone shop installed it for me. He was very surprised and showed me his zagg shields on his and his wifes phone. There was a clear difference between theirs and mine. Theirs fit perfectly. Mine is a few millimeters too short and a little too narrow.
i have emailed them to see if this is on purpose. I was thinking it maybe something to do with the Sony having a cover already installed. I was thinking that maybe if it was a perfect fit like the preinstalled sony then there is a possibility of pulling the Sony one off at the same time as the zagg if you need to remove it in the future.
Phil.
exactly my thoughts Phil, thanks for your input, can you inform me if they reply to your question if this is on purpose ? Otherwhise I shall ask the same
idd, pulling off the whole damn thing again will result (I think) in removing the already installed shatterproof protection... so I want a new one that fits nicely then!
I have noticed something: mobilefun website (belgian site of it) productcode of the shield states : SONXPERZEUS (http://be.mobilefun.com/38215-invisibleshield-screen-protector---sony-xperia-z.htm)
now, there's XPER Z EU S
EU = europe
US = us
models differ from country ?

I’m sorry you’re having problems with the invisibleSHIELD for your Sony Xperia Z. Before I can assist you further I would need to know the screen dimensions of the invisibleSHIELD screen you received and the dimensions of the screen on your device.
Also, please provide the exact make and model of your device as well as the exact name of the invisibleSHIELD you received. After I receive that information I will be able to assist you better.

my responce:
I've got the C6603 (European version), my screen size seems to be 13,5 cm wide, 6,8 cm long and the shield seems to be 13,2 cm wide and 6,5 cm long, so it's too small
I'm getting a new shield from Zagg.com itsself, hopefully it is bigger!
how does the invisible shield feels on SZ?
you guys tried invisible shield with or with the anti shatter film?
installed onto the anti-shatter film, feels good, though it's not a good version of the shield, as it's too small ...
I think my anti-shatter film will come off when I tear the invisible shield off to install (hopefully) the new sized shield
they told me to send mine back for a replacement...
Broke23 let me know if you end up pulling your anti-shatter film off. I'm a little concerned that i might pull mine off too, or at least cause some kind of noticeable damage to it.
does the invisible shield affects the front camera or the proxy sensor?
ofcourse not, it has cutouts for those ... which you can eaisly see on any advertisement of the shield
@sc00p: will do
Sweet!! thanks man
Zagg
I am using it The size is tailored fine maybe you bought wrong zagg (not for Xperia Z)
use the bottom info to order the perfect fit genuine zagg
ebay item number 271164533215
It was for xperia z for sure... and I'm not the only one who had this problem (read previous posts)
My one was definitely for the xperia z. It was the full body version for front and back. Was yours for the the front and the back also?

Anywhere to buy OEM Shatter layer with Sony logo?

Is there any place you can buy the OEM shatter layer for the xperia Z (With Sony Logo)?
I guess many people don't put on the screen protectors that comes with the box, not knowing about the shatter layer that is not scratch-resistant. Would be great to replace with a new one, then put on a screen protector..

so far theres non.. but later on maybe some will sell with a sony logo.. but for best when you unboxed ur Z,just put the free protector, front and back.. it could spare the built in layer.. and whhen the time ull remove it,we hope theres somebody who sells with a sony logo.
Yes, I have never had the need for screen protector on my other phones, so this being the first time I installed one, I failed miserably.
However I bought a Copter Screen protector yesterday, much easier to apply.
Yes,the built in though its thick.. So i already bought another prtctor with thin film,so the touch response will not degrade.. Are you annoyed living your XZ Not having a sony logo?
sent from my C6502
It just does not feel right removing the Sony logo on a brand new phone.. I like things to be original. But I have not read about anyone having problems after removing it, so it is a solution for those with scratched shatter films I guess.

Actually I have removed my protector with logo already. My question was about buying new one with logo. Is it available? But that thread was about is logo on protector or not. Or I missed something?
Ask here:

The ASF comes as part of the front glass, so it won't be available.
No-one seems to sell a suitable SP with the logo on.
bought this;

So what?
No logo - just a common SP, so you missed the point of this.

Cracked screen

Hey,
My Xperia Z cracked while laying on my bed. I've read all the topics about the design flow, is it worth to try and get the phone repaired under warranty in Australia? The glass isn't cracked, only the digitizer(lcd looks fine).
Otherwise, has anyone tried screen assembly with frame kit? There are some on ebay from china but the pictures don't really show the quality of the frame so I'm wondering if it's any good.
What about adhevise, what should I use to keep the parts together? Probably I can forget about waterproofness?
Thanks in advance

I believe the digitizer and lcd are fused together and cannot be replaced independently of each other.
This is very common with new phone as it helps keep the display assembly thinner and improves the IQ of the screen.
You have to buy an entire display assembly and replace the whole thing.
Here is one...

Called Sony Au today, they told me that they charge 40 aud for examination of the phone and u have to send the phone to Sydney. Told me that they have never repaired cracked screen in sony xperia z under the warranty and the cost is bit under 500..haha. I used to love sony but not anymore!

Probably is posible to change the screen by yourself, if you are skilled enough. Bringing it to service, last time I checked, they charged you half the price of a new unit for the new screen.

oh dear thats going to cost you. i broke mine xperia z screen all i did was take it out of my pocket and it was broke. i sourced the part off amazon for 95 quid. all because sony are robbing and put the outerglass with the lcd all in one unit to make it more expensive. anyway i did it myself as the repar centre was asking 250 quid. its not waterproof now though as i couldnt find the gasket for the lcd so i used normal 2 mm strips.
Thanks guys.. Okay.. I will try to change by myself.. maybe do you know where i can get cheaper that glass lens?
I found this cheapest variant in ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Sony-Xp...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item2a306f4842
P.S. How I understant the Display and digitzer is all in one?
up..
