[Q] Soft, or even hard brick? Oo - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
just flashed purexaduio over CM10.1...worked fine so far so i went under the show and let my One do my entertainment and then...all of a sudden...music stopped. Phone powered off. Battery is full, but no LED appears when plugged in. I can try to power it on/off (down't know in which state it actually is)
adb devices - shows nothing....
does someone has an idea?

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Does it reset or the capacitive buttons flash. Try the power and the volume down for 30 seconds.
Doubt you bricked it

nope...the only thing my One does is nothing....
no charging LED, no capacitive buttons, which flashes...no vibrations....
the only thing i can face is, that my phone is quite warm, given the fact that it actually does nothing

Happened to me too, complete hardware failure. Im investigating now. Not too happy

Yeah, I'm having the same issues. No pureaudio flash, but was using CM10.1. Hoping someone finds a resolve soon!

actually i'm not at home this weekend, so i cannot try around. but it would be great if somehase has a solution until tuesday xD

So far a solution seems distant. It seems to be complete hardware failure hence the lack of charging led and capacitive button emits. I would suggest going through the process of replacement as a fix is unlikely without a jtag device.

I spoke with an HTC employee today - the power supply in the phone appears to be destroyed. This apparently comes from using third party cables, but it is covered under warranty...
This appears to be a complete hardware failure. Not software related, sadly. Really turns me off from getting another One, I may see if Telus will exchange an S4 for me instead. :/

Tilt won't stay powered off

First off, I just want to say thanks for anyone who might be able to be of some assistance. I've tried searching google and the forums but haven't had any luck. If I've missed something, please feel free to hit me upside the head with the spoon.
I've recently been having problems with my Tilt regarding charging/battery issues. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2220715&postcount=37
Here's a quick rundown of my history...
- Can use Active Sync just fine
- When trying to charge, it says charging but won't charge
- No visible damage to the mini usb plug (at least to me)
- Had accident where the usb cable was pulled out from Tilt
Now...
I recently bought a charger that will just charge the battery separately from the phone until I can get it repaired. It's working fine so far except one issue. Whenever I try to power off the device (hold the power button till prompted to turn off), it'll power off then it'll power itself back on after 3 seconds. I did a hard reset to see if that would fix anything but it didn't. The only way to keep the phone off is to take out the battery. But once I put the battery back in, it'll power on by itself. The power button doesn't seem to be sticking or anything but I guess anything is possible. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it very much!!!
(I'm currently running the stock AT&T Rom without any programs installed. Also, I've never had any other Rom flashed on it.)

There is an option somewhere in power settings that enables/disables the Tilt from charging when connected to a PC. This may be the cause of the first issue.
However, the fact that it won't stay powered off...I have never heard of that before it sounds like a hardware issue. If your Tilt is still covered under warranty I would get it replaced.

Thanks for the reply! I tried adjusting that setting along with any other settings I could find regarding power but all without any luck.
I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue as well, but I guess what I'm really wondering is if any one can make a semi-educated guess as to whether this could be involved with my mini usb plug issue or if the motherboard is just screwed
I'd love to send it in for a replacement but of course my warranty expired 5 days before the problems started

I'm not a hardware guru with HTC, although I have alot of experience troubleshooting PCs and Servers. I would say that it is unlikely that the USB port is what is causing the device to keep turning on.
In any event, are you qualified or ready to try an replace either one yourself (usb port or motherboard)?
There are 3rd party services that will fix the device...but they aren't cheap...it can cost $1-200 bucks or maybe more.
Are you running the Stock ROM/Radio/SPL? Or did you flash anything new?
You may want to revert everything back to defaults and see if the problem persists.

I'm handy with computer hardware and everything but not really with small electronics. I was willing to send it to a repair shop to have the usb plug replaced in hopes of fixing my charging problems but now I'm not sure if it'll be worth it if there's a bigger/more expensive problem.

I'm currently and always have been on the Stock Rom. I bought the phone as a refurb so who knows if someone here had it before me and flashed a bunch of roms . But since I've had it I've kept it running the stock AT&T rom. I also did a hard reset after I noticed the problem but it help anything.

Hmm..yeah...refurb doesn't sit well with me.
At least the problem isn't a crippling one...since you can charge it with a stand-alone charger. As far as not staying off....that's kind of annoying, but I don't generally turn my Tilt completely off. You can always just put all the power saving stuff on to cut down on battery.
So, it seems like something you may have to live with, or pay for repairs. Hopefully someone can offer a better miracle cure than those suggestions...

I was a little weary of buying a refurb at first, but it was actually in great condition and worked just fine until when I accidentally kicked the cable out of it. But thanks for the suggestions. And you're right, it's still very usable, just a bit more of a hassle right now. Hopefully someone out there has something for me.
Exact same problem as dieneverknowing. I am going to try some new batteries and see what happens.
- When trying to charge, it says charging but does not charge
- bought a charger that will just charge the battery separately - working fine so far except one issue.

im having the same issue on my old tilt. i took it apart. and still no luck . no visible damage, gonna clean everything and put it back together.
was this problem ever solved. sorry for bumping an old thread. But this is my same issue.
Hey don't worry about bumping an old thread. I meant to do the same when I got my phone fixed.
Turns out it was the sync connector that had damage. I sent it to PPC Techs for this service and it made it like new. I never tried to take it apart, but I could only assume that at some point in time, one of the pins in the connector became separated from the motherboard.
thats what it looks like to me. i have it narrowed down to the board with the usb connector. but not sure yet. How much was that service. i would replace it my self if i can find that part at frys today.
Service was $80, and then you had to pay shipping both ways. I had looked into replacing it myself, but my small electronic skills aren't good enough for me to risk it on a pricy phone. I remember seeing the connector part somewhere online for $40 I believe, but I can't remember where though.
But PPC Techs had it repaired in less then 24 hrs after receiving it. And they did a great job. It feels more solid then when I had originally bought the phone.

[Q] Nexus One Dead

I've read similar posts without trying any answer about what happened so far and what do I have to expect.
My N1 is dead, I'm not able to turn it on neither in normal mode nor in recovery. It seems it doesn't get any power, I've tried to change the battery, using different power supply (USB cable, car dock and regular charger) without any success.
I've already contacted HTC support and I'm waiting to deliver them the phone. Warranty has expired.
Can you tell me what do you think can be happened and what do I have to expect in term of expenses?
Thanks
How did it end up that way, were you flashing something, did you drop it, water damage, etc??
Maybe power button has broke.
I'm having the same problem. My nexus one discharged its batt. wen i was on my way home.and when i plugged into charger and pressed the power, it doesn't switch on. i tried every way mentioned by other members.
had a short life huh...
try another fully charged nexus battery, if that doesn't work and your sure you did not damage it anyway it must be wear and tear of the power button/mechanism buy one of ebay for a few quid and put it in, only problem is, it might require soldering and thats a *****. lol
You can get the flex ribbon which contain the power button, no soldering required. Seen some on fleabay.
If it does not power on with the battery trick it is not the power button at fault. I can't recall exactly what the trick is because I never had to use it. It is something like pull the battery when the phone is plugged in and then put it back or something. Search the forum for how to do if. It should come up.

Simply I was using the device as navigator plugged in the car dock.
It became freezed, the only way was to remove the battery, then it restarted working only after many attempts.
The second time in the car dock as before was the last time I saw it alive...
Actually is in HTC to be rapaired... stay tuned...

Finally my Nexus One is back.
HTC replaced the motherboard (I got a new IMEI code in fact).
I want to thank officially HTC because they fixed the problem even if my warranty was already expired without charging anything.
I hope this can be useful for somebody, I've heard from another italian guy the same issue for example.
Thanks to everybody who partecipated to this discussion.

(Standard v20A) Phone dead this morning - Help!

This morning I went to get my phone from it's charger, but the screen wouldn't wake. Then I realised it wouldn't even boot. I removed the battery for a while and tried again, I got the LG logo spinning for a while but still nothing else.
I keep trying holding volume down with the power for a while, power up etc, but nothing gets it to boot. Any ideas? I'm running the stock v.20a as far as I remember.
Thanks!

I bought it impatiently from Amazon.de from germany. I don't think the warranty counts, when I had a proximity sensor problem they wouldn't help me!
Phew - found it was just the charger that was at fault! Completely dead battery was all - a different charger and now it's coming back to life!

If it's not even booting properly they have to repair it (if you didn't change anything).
If they don't want to, try yo get a manager or something similar

[Q] C6603 unplug freeze - anyone else get this?

Hey guys, long time no see.
Since my super popular forray into baseband modification my girlfriend has had my trusty old xperia Z c6603 until this morning. Of course, the first day of 2015 sets off with a bang.
After unplugging her phone this morning, it locked up. (this happens sometimes, once out of every 10 unplugs) She reset it with volup + power as usual and took a shower. Except today, it doesn't come back on.
This phone has never been rooted. It's had an alternate baseband flashed (of course, lol), and it's been working fine for 2 years. It has no water damage of any kind, and since it's me, you can expect it's in killer shape.
Volup/down + power does nothing at this point. Thinking I'm going to have to go into disassemble as described in other threads to unplug the battery, but that sucks.
Anyone else had this issue?

yeah, probably not a bad idea. We just got her a Z2 as a replacement, but it was purchased in march of 2014, so, I would imagine it's still under warranty.

Dead screen ?

My phone's screen just went black suddenly while i was using the phone last night. Nothing i do will wake the screen up, i tried rebooting by holding the power button, tried power+volume down also to boot into recovery .. no response. However the phone seems to be functioning as i can hear the screen lock sound. I think im stuck on the pin screen (the one to pass the boot-up-encryption). theres some vibration and feedback when i randomly press on the screen too.
The device is running Stock 6.0.1 , unrooted , stock kernel. Has this ever happened to anyone else ? could it be a software issue ?
I believe the LCD panel just went dead ..
Thanks!
Have you hooked it up to a computer and tried to see if it's recognised by ADB?

I had a nexus that had a faulty screen and randomly shut off or something half the screen will glitch out and one day it just stopped working but I could hear the lockscreen sounds. Your best bet would be to send it in for service maybe its a loose connecting or a hardware issue. When mine started acting up it was a loose connecting so if I hit the phone with my hand it would go back to normal and then it stopped working. Its a common issue if you do a google search many people have encountered this
That sounds to me like a return-under-warranty job. If you were in the UK you could quote the Sale of Goods Act, which specifies that an item must be of suitable quality and last a reasonable amount of time, but in my case when I returned my faulty N5 to Google after 18 months they were as good as gold, didn't quibble, simply replaced it with a refurbished one which appeared to me to be indistinguishable from brand new.
Since by definition your phone must be very close to its warranty period, depending on when you got it, I'd start with that. This is the link I used from the UK - maybe different if you're elsewhere, but you should find a link called "Get a call from a hardware specialist":

That makes sense. could be just a loose connector between the LCD panel and the MoBo ..
Problem is i live in Jordan and I got the phone from Dubai. Its still under warranty of the seller (Souq.com ; an online store .. kind of like Amazon of the middle east ), So i have to send my phone to Dubai to fix it. Now i could just go to a local phone repair shop and ask the guy to check the connectors, but im afraid that would void the warranty and not solve the problem ;( .

Well, if you figure out that it is just the screen, you can use this program for basic control with a lot of latency
