Hi all, I don't have an htc one, but I read on the nexus 4 section that there is a bit of lag when you scroll in apps like facebook, twitter and more or less in every android app. Is it so for the htc one? I would like to buy one of these two devices, but I want to be sure of what I'm buying. Thanks in advance!

Yes there's a bit of lag for the Facebook app as usual. Facebook makes absolutely atrocious apps, so nothing new.
An what about other apps? Does scrolling lag?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
I think it's a problem with all android phones. I own SGS3 (waiting for HTC One) and some applications like Facebook or few other apps with up and down scrolling lags like hell.
In my opinion the Facebook app is one of the worst wroten application on android. It lags even more than 1 ago.
Some applications in play store are really buttery smooth but there are lots of garbage too. Even Google's own app Currents lags.
Basically it's a programmers fault.

It could also just be Samsung's ROM, cos they didn't implement Project Butter properly as per Google's specs

Hello,
I want to ask optimus 2X owners something,
I read a review on engadget
And they say that the optimus 2X's software is laggy and that the memory is not enough
Is that true? or can I buy my optimus 2X without any doubt?
Thank you

No, retail software 2.2.2 is stable and not laggy.

i have installed a lot of apps and still everything is very fast.
No lag here lol lightning fast..

It was very fast until the new rom update that sprint put out. Now everything just crawls. Used to have root as well. Now just looking to maybe get a different rom loaded

No certainly not laggy! very responsive!

lag?

Mine is rooted, some applications frozen - I have noticed nothing i would call lag.
Well, I disagree with recent sentiment in this thread.
It does lag.
No terribly so but it's patently obvious that some processes don't use SMP and as a result lag is evident.
Whenever the package manager is accessed or a notification comes in the phone seems to go into serial processing mode and effectively hands processor priority to the system app.
In my opinion this is software related and is fixed in Honeycomb - these lags are not apparent on a Moto Xoom (2.3) but they are apparent on a Moto Atrix (2.2).
Examples:
Play a CPU intensive game and force a notification, watch it momentarily stall.
Queue a lot of Market downloads and wait till they start "installing" - try using your phone.

My homescreen is almost always laggy.
Weather animation lags to.
The phonecall quality is also bad.
Its not what i've expected from a dual core phone and
Im not 100% happy with this gadget.
laggy? I would say it got some certain hangtimes on occasions...
at 1st, there was no lags, now I had it for about 14 days, and its filled up with a lot off apps. I get hangtimes when installing a new app. That was not the situation in the beginnning. Also got some hangtimes when exiting some apps on occasion.
I found a workaround though.
I rooted, installed autokiller (not a usual task killer as you might think of) and Cache Cleaner NG.
Also, I installed Titanium backup, and "froze" or uninstalled unnessecary apps, stock apps etc. Now I got a lot more free ram, and a quicker ROM.
I use Zeam Launcher and I have frozen LG launcher.
But don't get to worried. When android 2.3 comes around, it will be much faster, as 2.2 doesn't support dual core + 2.3 is much more optimized.
Battery life + user experince will increase tenfold or more
The best phone till date in my oppinion.
looking forward to HTC Pyramid though, which I dont expect to be around the next 6 months, and by then, I'm able to get a new phone
The LG Launcher is not really that good, not laggy but not super responsive either. I user LauncherPro and haven't experienced any lag at all. I'm amazed at this phones speed.
Hi! A friend of mine offers his nexus one + money for my OB, and, seriously, I dont know what to do, 'cause hardware in OB is way superior but there are so many cool roms for nexus one...
What is your opinion?
Thanks in advance :highfive:
the nexus. it's a google phone thus it has exclusive updates (see jb) and there is a bigger community developing for it.
But on the otherhand try to find out why he is opting for the OB
And if you play games, keep it unless the nexus becomes faster using custom roms
Anyways you see
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
I think the looks of the OB are awesome, so is the screen. The nexus one only is better for the software development...dunno, its hard to decide. The point is that I dont play games, so the gpu is not a deciding factor, but the smoothness of the ui and the different android versions, sense ui...
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Keep your ob
Skickat från min LG-P970 via Tapatalk 2
Yup...waut for others to reply
If you dont care about software tweaking...go ob
And by tweaking, flashing nearly everyday, the phone is not used for its purpose
We do that for performance and theme mostly...id say stick to ob
Use it as it should have been.
.email, calender, facebook etc
Tweaks will come sooner or later
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Thanks 4 your opinion! Well, I think I'm finally stickin' with the OB, lets trust in the great developers we have in xda!
nexus One = small screen, Pentile, bad camera, etc
nexus= lots of custom roms
Even with the advantage of a bigger comunity, I think that the Nexus One is a little too old.
Someone just messaged me this "fix" for android lag
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35971545&postcount=20669
I personally haven't noticed any lag but thought it might be worth sharing here.
sorry if its already been shared
I don't really notice a difference.
The typical Android hiccups are still there.

I don't experience any lag at all from this device (and didn't on my S2 running Cyanogenmod for that matter either).
No lag to report on the Nexus 4... But interesting read nonetheless. Might use it on the Galaxy S2 (Which DOES lag, even though some say it doesn't. Compare both N4 and S2 side by side... It's painful to watch)
Is this like jet lag?
Who Lag?
More like turbo lag

No lag here on this badboy!
The lag is from the way Android was designed originally. Not all apps are even optimized for the platform and others are quick ports from other platforms. Also they are still lacking with hardware to software optimizations.

The're some apps which are lagging. But the Nexus4 itself? Bullsh**!!!
Smoothest Android phone ever (just compare to the Note 2, this phone lags!)

Agreed. It may be the applications that lag but not the system itself. I have yet to see a hiccup when browsing through my Nexus.

There are some pretty awful frame drops when using the device in landscape, especially in the app drawer. I wonder if this fixes that.

Don't lie.
The Nexus 4 might be the smoothest Android device, but it is still lagging compared to other systems like iOS or WP 7/8

Compared to my iPhone 4 the N4's browser is like internet explorer vs chrome.
Sounds like snake oil. Androids remaining lag is too deeply rooted to be squashed with some shell code parlor trick. Android gives content fetching more priority than rendering the UI, it's something that Google has to take care of by rewriting the framework. Ios does this beautifully btw, it doesn't need 4 cores for fluid scrolling and even with 4 cores nexus can't touch it ... yet.

I dont own this device but i might pick one up soon however i would like to know weather the homescreen lag on xperia z still exists. Many reviewer complain about it but they are running old software versions i guess. So espacially after 4.2 update is there still any lag? And if yes how does it look like if you are running a custom kernel? I really hope there is a way to fix that because i dont want to see it.
I have not experienced any lags continuosly with my homescreen on 4.2.2, but sometimes it i see 1 minimal lag when playing with the homescreen for 2mins or so. compared to Samsung galaxy s4, that s4(my friends device) lags far more than my xperia on 4.2.2.
Yes there are kernels that can even improve the smoothness of the homescreens, but I would suggest you to try another launcher like novalauncher, that never lags at all!
Then it also depends on was apps are running in the background like Facebook etc

Hello i have a problem with my phone.... it lags a bit. When in Chrome ,Facebook app or using Swiftkey keyboard and pretty much every app the phone is a bit laggy.
I used Usermon to track the cpu usage and i say some random spikes.
I do not know where these spikes and the lag come from ... is there any way to create a log of cpu usage per app ???
Thank you.
2 usermon photos are attached.
Also my phone:
Crystal PA 4,4,2 Custom Rom
The kernel that came with the Rom
UBL
Rooted
Thanks again
Normal because Facebook, Chrome and the keyboard are pretty heavy applications to use..
Nothing to worry about
yeah but the thing is that never happened before despite having the phone loaded with apps...
