Basebands - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know out there is a bunch of baseband to flash through Odin. What about make them flashable?. What for?, for example I flashed Enox and Benz roms that are not for my specific model (L) and my phone boot without a problem, but just get not network signal. So I was guessing that will work If I flash my baseband (lubama1) over the one that came with the rom. Will the rom work without a problem I think, cuz that is what I did in my Atrix 4g times.
Why flashable, just to do it on the way. If someone can help me making my stock baseband flashable I will appreciate it.
Thnx

I'm pretty sure those roms doesn't change your modem, but only system files.
Why it doesn't work is probably because the config is for i8190 and not i8190L modem.
Open the rom.zip and see if you find a modem.bin in there.. I think not.

even if you flash your baseband i think it will not work. wrong rom to your variant
any way, if you want, attach your baseband to make it flashable via odin.

AT&T . I heard you can get modem from them or a file, then it will work.
Could you please help ? because I couldn't contact AT&T ?
ATT won't help you since you modifed your phone. Here is a good list for I900 modems, I897 modems and CM7. There are 2 ways on flashing modems, either use CWM or ODIN. CWM just use the zip file that they come with and flash them. With ODIN decompres the zip file and use the modem.bin in the phone section.

flash modem using ODIN

Hi,
i have some signal problems with my I9000 (2.3.6),can i flash a modem using ODIN without a new ROM (i want to keep 2.3.6 and don't losing my apps and games),and i will not got any problems.
and please what is the good modem (if possible for north Africa)
thank you .
Yes u are able to flash only the modem, just select the modem file only and flash.
Not sure about the modem, but jjw2 has worked on my phone well with signal and battery wise.
thank you Wesku,
there will not be any problem with the ROM, apps and games after the flash.
and where i can find it ,and how can i know what my phone running know(modem).
The modem won't affect performance so apps and games should be fine.
Not sure where to find as I flash my modems from CWM recovery and I'm running CyanogenMod, that uses modems that are little bit different from stock ones.

Just search here on the forum for the modem you want.. or google for it
changing the modem will not affect your apps in anyway..
for checking the current modem, go to settings >> about phone >> baseband version

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870460
Just flash the zip file in cwm (recovery). Same way flashing a custom rom
For me JVO, JVK works best, but u have 2 try different modems to see whats best for u. Its different for everyone. No need wiping anything you can flash endless times till u find the right modem. Theyre all compatible

[Q] IMEI goes AWOL with deodexed XXLK3 UK Firmware.

Recently i have come across a puzzling bug when i flashed deodexed UK firmware S5830IXXLK3 (by Alucard1989PL) and was wondering if anyone else had come accross this,
I flash my phone via ODIN 3.07 to stock XXLK3 UK firmware as normal , this gives me stock kernel & ROM.
I fire up ODIN and flash either Rafael or Hells kernel (it doesnt matter which), reboot, check phone status and i have IMEI.
I root my phone via CWM next just to make sure and check that debug is ticked, reboot.
I then flash the S5830IXXLK3 deodexed ROM via CWM, no problem. When the phone boots i check the phone status and each time i have lost my IMEI number.
On all previous deodexed ROMS i have used i have never come accross this, could it be the latest firmware thats been deodexed or am i overlooking a simple detail here?
Any comments would be appreciated.

I haven't problem with IMEI. The deodexed rom has already root so i don't know why you installed root before you install my deodexed xxlk3 rom -_-" LOL. Try reflash rom with odin than my deodexed rom and at last custom kernel . . .

Hi Viprdxd, I have also just experienced this problem after flashing the same XXLK3 UK firmware and then flashing a custom deodexed ROM that I am currently building. My custom ROM is currently based on XXLI1 firmware and I thought there may be some incompatibility problem. However obviously you have flashed Alucard's XXLK3 deodexed ROM so it can't be that. You say its not a kernel issue either so at the moment I currently have very little idea what is causing this. I need to find out though to make my custom ROM compatible with all firmwares so I will be investigating this issue.
I'm just glad I got my IMEI back by reflashing the XXLK3 firmware with ODIN cause I've already permanently lost it once before when I was a bit of a noob and didn't have a backup or anything!

Yeah I know that feeling all to well when you see your IMEI number missing I'll keep playing around to see if I can find out why but my feeling is its an issue ROM side with XXLK3., Hey good luck with your ROM I'll defo check it out when its done.

Nice one thanks :good:
Edit: Sorry Actually I still can't figure this out, if I flash XXLK3 with ODIN, IMEI number is fine. If I install Rafael's kernel, nothing else, it disappears.
If I extract the XXLK3 ROM and flash it in recovery no problems, if I deodex it no problems, if I install custom kernels then IMEI dissappears.
Which leads me to the conclusion its a problem with custom kernels except for the fact that if I flash the ROM I'm building on stock kernel IMEI also dissappears!! So for now it remains a mystery!

I have concluded that its not a problem with XXLK3 or The custom Kernels as both work, let me explain, XXLK3 standard and deodexed on stock (came with package) kernel works as it should. Raf's or Hell's Kernel works fine on every other firmware.
It seems to be a problem of compatibility of the two maybe Samsung changed some small detail or a tweek is needed in the kernels or both? I don't know as I am not a dev.
My thread on what I found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052690

Baseband and Installing Roms

I want to install this rom but it is in a different baseband. Mine is DXAMA2 and its safe to say there is no ROMS out there with this baseband.
I'm not really sure what baseband's are for but after reading around I think its something that you need for it accept phone calls from a certain country. So knowing that I tried to search around and I saw that you can flash your kernel?(or firmware? IDK not sure) to make phone calls work again with a different baseband.
Is it possible for me to install Benz's rom but somehow flash the baseband and change it to my default or something less I prefer is to get that kernel(or firmware) flashed to make phone calls work again?
Note: I'm a a noob at this, all I know is how to flash roms and thats about it I guess. So step by step advice is preferable, thanks!
Well.. for me when i flash rom's my baseband stays the same everytime. So it should work for you as well without affecting baseband. But if it does just use a CSC Selector and choose your region.
Umm I'm not sure what a CSC Selector is but after seeing ODIN what kind of file do I need to download?
