So I have recently installed the latest Padawan rom and phase Kernel and I am unable to change the boot animation. (using ROM Tool Box Pro) any ideas?
From what I understand, the Padawan/Jedi roms are something like skinned stock roms so the carrier boot screen is outside the parameters of the rom. You can change the Samsung boot ( the one after the carriers image) by changing the qmg files manually in the media folder but I don't think boot animation zips work at all on this rom.

I was able to modify it using the same process on there last ROM. I do not know if it had a kernel that suported the change but i do know that the new version has a stock kernel thats why I flashed the Phase kernel.

How where you able to install Padawan on Tmobile Galaxy Note? I tried it and it just bootloops or stuck on the ATT logo. SO I gave up. Anything special you did from the official procedures?

The rom requires a boot image from T-Mobile and other files to get wifi to work as it was compiled for ATT's network.
I have patched ptmr3's Padawan9 rom to work on my phone but you will lose wifi-calling. That is an exclusive T-Mobile feature that is in ptmr3's wonderful Jedi 4 rom.
I don't use wifi-calling so it's not an issue for me.
You WILL have wifi though so that's good.
First, you have to flash ATT TWRP recovery. You can flash it through CWM or T-Mobile TWRP.
http://ppl.ug/VkR2R5vomsM/
After rebooting into ATT TWRP, make sure you wipe everythng (cache, system, etc.)
Now, flash the patched Padawan 9.
http://ppl.ug/YuiDWhPwItY/
TWRP allows you to add more than one zip at a time for flashing so add the T-Mobile modem as well.
http://ppl.ug/fEfh5ay0z4U/
Reboot after flashing the two zips and you should be good to go.
You might get a prompt for TWRP to fix root, go ahead and accept that if it asks.
Personally, the only differences I can see between Padawan 9 and Jedi 4 is the Pie launcher and Sony walkman music app that Padawan uses.
If you haven't tried Jedi 4 yet, I would look at that first. It is really an excellent rom for us T-Mobile users as it allows wifi calling, and use of Samsung apps. It has the pop out note 2 video player also which I like.
If you install Padawan 9, remember it wasn't built for T-Mobile so flash at your own risk. It's been working for me with the changes I made to it but every phone is different so be sure to backup your current system first.

Great explanation. Thank you very much. I want to try the Jedi 4 though as I need that Wifi-Calling feature, I have terrible reception at work. But as I understand, its still ICS, Am I correct? Do I need to flash ATT TWRP recovery on it though or can I use the one I have which is the latest TWRP for GNote on Tmobile?

Pretty basic release. This is a deodexed version of the touchwiz wifi update.zip available in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167250
I have not changed anything else in this ROM (though I am now working on a more streamlined touchwiz ROM using this deodexed version)
So no, this ROM is not meant to improve performance or fix any bugs from the stock touchwiz update. A deodexed ROM simply makes it possible/easier for devs to create patches that can address these issues, make themes, etc.
Warning: I am not responsibile for any damage you do to your device from flashing this update. Please be careful and follow the instructions below, and use at your own risk!

Uploaded 7/22/2011: http://www.multiupload.com/WTU98VP2D5
-Fixed WiFi issue (thanks to DocRambone for the fix)
-Fixed /system not being wiped properly during update
Installing:
Download and place somewhere on your /sdcard directory
Boot into CWM
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe /data and /cache (you can skip this if you had flashed the r4-7/19/2011 previously)
Install this zip from sdcard
---
Rooting:
Flash su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511.zip using CWM / Rom Manager: http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/tools/su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511.zip
---
Before reporting any bugs please make sure you have followed these directions. If you are getting a boot loop you most likely missed one of the steps above.
If you are getting the "service temporarily unavailable message" you need to sign into your google account, it should go away after you do that
Have fun themeing and modding!

Are you talking about the special tilt / pan control? Just tested that, still doesnt work, but it may be possible now to patch the problem if someone can find it (in the deodexed resources).
Yeah I like the zoom feature, that's why I went back to the stock 3g touchwiz rom
Yeah i still didnt go back to stock 3g im just hoping somebody can find it in this deoxed rom but lets see
Can you pleaseeeee hook me up with the 3g touchwiz .zip??? IV looked everywhere! My tab is sooo slow with the wifi version but the 3g version, even with errors, was smoking fast! Thanks!

The linked root zip is optional, you don't have to flash right after, you can flash it whenever (but dont use any of the other rooting zips available for this tab, the linked one is the only compatible version). Your bootloop is probably caused by not wiping /data+/cache or the davlik cache. Follow the instructions in first post.

Did you try without ROM Manager the first time? If not try that first to be sure. Also provide device info please (wifi/3g/io/retail/v). I have not had any other reports of bootloops from people that were wiping data+cache+dalvik properly. You can try formatting /system (under CWM mount / storage menu option) if you are still getting this after manually doing everything through CWM at boot.
are you sure thats the 3G version? I went to download it and my pc sees it as exactly the same as the new wifi version... thank you sooo much for it either way! good looking out!!!

No if its not working in CWM it wont work if you do it through ROM manager. Redownload and verify the md5 hash from the original post. Boot into CWM recovery, wipe everything mentioned and retry.
I'm having problems with custom roms. I came from O.M.J version 1.4. Everything was fine and then I decided to format everything with CWM by Philz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860. Attempted to adb push the Android Revolution HD v10 rom, but it threw an error out. So I side loaded it instead. After the install was complete I find it only boots to fastboot mode because my recovery is now gone and there's no OS. After lots of googling I learn to use fastboot command, flash a few recoveries, and end up back on TWRP to load my nandroid backup. Even with my nandroid the phone would not boot past a few seconds into the OD. Only way the phone works is if I run the stock RUU. Somehow it only works with stock RUU because if I go back to anything else the phone won't connect to the sprint network. I only get so far into the setup and it goes thru boot loop. I attempted to relock/unroot and go thru the whole steps again to flash a custom rom and I'm stumped.
To top it all off I end up posting in General instead of the Q&A. It's been a long night sorry.
fixed my problem by flashing from the oldest ruu. that let me flash my nandroid backup and have it running.
Just so you know, Android Rev. 10 doesnt support Sprint yet. Which carrier did you choose on the install?

International. I was kinda suspicious about it, but they had posted sprint compatibility first post. Mostly because of this misleading post FAQs
6. Can I flash this ROM on my T-Mobile / AT&T / Rogers... variant?
Yes, you can. The ROM will work on all the variants except Sprint, as it has some significant differences. Sprint is supported since version 9.4.

Anyway if someone happens to install the international roms. In order for me to return to the previous custom roms I had to flash Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_1.29.651.7_RUU then flash the custom rom O.M.J v1.4 or like me do my Nandroid backup in which both were 1.29.651.7 based. The biggest problem I had was after installing the International roms I lost my recovery. A simple "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" with the recovery.img of choice worked out for me.
Good afternoon all,
I have an HTC One PN072. I've flashed the phone from Sprint to Cricket. They were very adamant about me not "resetting" the phone as it will remove the information, or flash they've added.
I've done several searches and can't seem to find a thread indicating 1) if this is possible and 2) a guide to doing so. The phone already is rooted and has TWRP on it as well.
If anyone knows of a thread I would love a link to a guide.

I have a Sprint One fully flashed to Verizon and I flash custom ROMs all the time without any problems. I have never lost any settings and I don't even have to re-activate my phone. I would think that as long as you dont use Bootloader to flash a complete RUU image you should be fine. Goin s-off if your not already might cause issues here as well. (If someone knows for sure please correct me) I would say just download a ROM and install it with TWRP. I have updated firmware as well with no issues as well, however the firmware I upgraded with did not contain a radio update, which I am hesitant to do since I imagine that will effect my flash. I did my flash myself but it seems like a headache re-doing it.

Not that I have ever experienced. That was true on my EVO LTE and has so far been true on my One. I have the newest TWRP and in the past two days I have flashed EclipticOne, Elegencia and Insert Coin. On my old Droids Clockwork recoveries reset worked fine as well. DONT do a factory reset from inside the ROM. I have not tried it on my One, but on my EVO and my Droid 1/2/3 phones that would undo parts of a flash and I would have to reactivate. If I were you I would just work within my current firmware and flash what was available.
It is possible for you to flash your phone back to Cricket for free but its requires a lot of setup and can be a real pain in the ass. Getting 3G on Verizon was particularly painful and I have many screen shots and pages of notes on the actual procedure. When I upgraded from my EVO to the One I managed to get it right the first time by following my notes but it was still a serious hassle.

i was thinking about getting my one flashed to verizon but how does it work?? say i get my phone flashed.. is it verizon pre paid?? does that come with unlimited data?? text & talk?? how much would my bill be a month? sorry for all the questions
I apologize, so just to be as clear as possible, if you follow all of the wipes that roms usually ask you to perform in TWRP then you should be fine? However, do not perform a factory reset in the rom itself once loaded?
Doing a wipe through TWRP's wipe feature is fine as long as you dont go into 'Advanced' and mess with settings. Do not do the factory reset within the ROM once the ROM is loaded. If, while installing a ROM, the installer wants to do a wipe, that is fine as well.

You can't flash any custom recoveries because the bootloader is locked. The only thing we have close to it is Safestrap. Look at the Safestrap thread in the development section. It will tell you all you need to know.
And for the record, there is a TON of stuff out there about the locked bootloader preventing custom recoveries, kernels, AOSP ROMs, etc.
Do I need to update to KK And I'll be able to use regular recovery?

I did not want to update due to the fact I could send apps to the SD anymore.
- junkheadINC

The bootloader is locked on KitKat as well. "Upgrading" to KitKat would be even worse because there is no root for it yet and once you install the official update you cannot go back to 4.3.
There is absolutely NO way to use custom recoveries, custom kernels, or AOSP ROMs on the N900A because the bootloader is locked in all firmware versions for the N900A. There is no way to unlock it and probably never will be unless AT&T releases an update that unlocks it, which is very unlikely.
If you want TWRP, CM11, and custom kernels, sell your AT&T Note 3 and buy the T-Mobile version. It has an unlocked bootloader so you can do whatever you want to it. It is fully compatible with AT&T's network. There are guides around here somewhere that go more in depth and explain how too do it.
Thanks man. I got safestrap installed now. What r the down sides to using that? I'm on the ATT next program. I return my phones every 18months for new ones so I can't trade or sell it.

The only major downsides in my opinion are if you try to do the hold volume up+home+power button to get to recovery (or is it volume down? I forget...), you go straight to the stock recovery instead of Safestrap. Also, if you don't hit the button to boot into Safestrap in time you have to wait for the phone to finish booting, turn it off, and try again. You can't flash kernels with it either, but that's not Safestrap's fault.
It has its upsides as well. You get several slots for flashing ROMs and mods so you can run several different ROMs at the same time without having to wipe out your phone to try a new ROM. Each ROM you flash has to be based off the same version of android, though. That means no Fire Note in the stock slot, Dynamic KitKat in the first, S5 experience in the second, etc. There's more discussion about that in the Safestrap thread.
Title pretty much says it all. I am new to rooting and using custom roms. I successfully rooted my phone, installed necessary backup app and recoveries, backed up my phone, etc.
I wanted to install the Darthstalker ROM, but it seems like every model but mine is used. Can I use a different model number in the install and still have it work? Is there a reason SM-N920P is not supported by the rom?
Thank you in advance!

I installed it using sm-n920t option and it all works and is pretty sweet except mobile data/voice. If you were going to use it as a wifi only device youd be fine and as far as I could tell everything else worked fine. There was no issues installing it and going back to my previous rom which was moar 1.3. So for curiosity there should be no issues trying the rom and going back to previous one with the correct process taken for each flash of course. My device is sm-n920p (sprint)

Its nice for sure, there arent a whole lot of options to choose from but definitely a good one. I just installed the slim custom rom and now am on the defender rom, both have xposed installed but neither has touchwiz home launcher which i didnt like but can be changed by copying the touchwiz folder in system/privapp to sdcard/download and after installing rom boot into recovery and copy the folder pasted in sdcard into system/privapp and reboot. Moar rom has alot of visual customization which is cool but only lasts so long. Sorry for delay in response.
