Stock recovery question - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could somebody who definitely knows the answer please clarify for me once and for all.
Are stock recoveries for the One specific to the rom, are they generic, are they specific to the model number??
Specifically, I would like to re-install stock recovery on my 1.28.61.7 device. Should any stock recovery built for my model work or do I need one of version 1.28.***.7 or do I specifically need one made for 1.28.61.7?
I have not got a back up of my stock recovery.
Any informed advice would be much appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

I'm bumping this question. Need the same info.

[stock rom][2.3.6] P1000BUJQ3_P1000BUJQ1_P1000TCLJQ1

Hi xda-developers,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab (P1000) (hw ver. rev1.2), provided by Vodafone Portugal, and I want exploit the device by installing custom ROMs.
But as you can imagine, I want to be sure that I can revert the device to this state whenever I want. And this is my problem....
I've been searched for tutorials how to do this, but i could not find this specific ROM.
Info after pressing *#1234# :
Firmware Version:
PDA - P1000BUJQ3
PHONE - P1000BUJQ1
CSC - P1000TCLJQ1
Android version is 2.3.6 and carrier is Vodafone Portugal
I also went to a Vodafone forum, and they suggested an alternative by asking a previous version ROM to Samsung (unlikelly): Android 2.2, P1000BUJI4+P1000TCLJI1
I also can't get this one.
Questions:
Do you have any sugesttions where can I get this stock ROM (preference 2.3.6)?
What does people like me normally do in this sittuations on their devices?
Is there any Stock Rom without carrier (directly from Samsung)? Can I install another P1000 stock rom from another carrier (I don't like this sollution) ?
Let me just say this.
You P1000 is no different than all the P1000 talked about here.
Just read all some if the threads here and you know what to do.

Thanks priyana, but I want to preserve the original ROM for a eventual revert, and that's what I can't find in any P1000 thread.

Thanks nurusz, but I don't want how to flash the P1000;
What I want is the stock ROM for P1000, carrier Vodafone Portugal (TCL), no matter what version (2.2 or 2.3) and not-rooted
I have 2.3 now in my P1000 (that was never flashed before (only updated via Kies)).
Does anyone provide me any reliable solution to this?
Thank you!

Want to root my Samsung Galaxy s3 4G confused

Hello all,
I have read many posts about rooting the phone above but am confused.
All i want to do is root the phone and keep the original rom.
If i root it then update to 4.1.2 jellybean when its released for my phone do i have to root it again?
I really need to know step by step the process so i dont mess it up.
Firstly i beleive i need to backup my iemi is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915 the correct procedure?
I then save that file it generates incase i need to restore is this correct?
I was then going to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414 but am confused where it says "Flash an Insecure Kernel before using Samsung Quick Root".
Where do i find an insecure kernal for the above phone?
I then read about ClockworkMod Recovery what does this do and should i use it?
Can someone please help me step by step as im really new to Android.
Sorry for so many questions but coming from years having an iphone to Android its like wow.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

Absolutely everything you need to know is in there.
I would only use methods that are intended for i9305.

Obagleyfreer i read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32235061&postcount=1 and unsure of part 13.
I want to root but just keep the standard rom that the phone came with.
Also if i update to 4.1.2 jellybean do i need to backup and root again?
You just need to flash the zip that's linked in part 13 to get root access.
You do this in CWM recovery.

Hi
Seems like you ar pretty novice to this.
If you root you cant update to latest from Settings -》About -》 Update. Root makes it imposible that way.
Instead you have to flash the latest rom from www.sammobile.com using Odin (windows) and rootvit again.
Or you wait till some one kind pre roots the rom and makes it flashable through Clockworkmod (easiest way)
All the strange words you have to look up your self.

Ok i check www.sammobile.com and i dont see a version of 4.1.2 jellybean for my phone.
Will the international versions of 4.1.2 work on my phone?
Will they have bloatware or carrier logos?
When i flash a rom do i have to flash the modem as well?
Can i just flash rom over rom or should i clean the cache first?

Its not released yet for every country. I dont find it for sweden either.
And you can expect the same thing from updated rom as the rom you are on now.
The roms from sammobile is only for your country becaus it contains the proper modem and apn info for your country and carrier.
As I said before best way to get a rooted and neat rom is letting the experts in xda compile a version that is flashable through cwm.
Look in the description if modem is included.

Yes the "T" in the name is just the Telstra branding, if you follow ausdims rooting thread you will be fine

The 'T' in the model number isn't branding. The phone is actually slightly different.
I have a friend who works for Telecom here in NZ and they also sell the I9305T.
He said it is optimised for use on Telecom's network (and obviously Telstra's too) it uses different modems and the antenna is different inside the phone.
They do however use the same ROMs and firmware. Anything intended for the I9305 will also work the same on the I9305T, except modems.

Hello everyone!
New to this forum and new to Android phone. I have searched the whole forum and read through the dev-sections. Also did searches on multiple sites and through searchengines to find out what device model to use in the ToolKit...didn't find any confirming answer to my question.
As I have no posts from before, I couldn't write this in the dev-section, so I chose the thread that was closest to what I was looking for.
Question: What is the correct device model to choose in the ToolKit (I have version 7.0.0).
Information from my "about section"...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G
Model: GT-I9305
Android-version: 4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I9305XXALK5
Operator: Telenor (Norway)
The options I lean towards since the only choice showing 4G, is number 21 (International 4G).
Problem is that it says it's GT-I9305N and not GT-I9305. It also says (Build JRO03C ALIA) and that does not match to my build either.
Then I look at the (International LTE), which says (GT-I9305)...which is ok.
And then number 14, which says (Build JRO03C ALK5), which is the same as mine...but it doesn't say 4G, which I have.
It might sound silly, but I really dont want to make the wrong choice here and end up having a phone that either "does not work at all"
or "does not work as it should". And before anyone says that I then should just leave it alone, my only intention at this point is to let
my anti-virus get root-access, so that the firewall works and the anti-theft works.
Hope anyone can be of help and thanks in advance.

Ok, so I rooted my device yesterday after reading through like 10 more threads...just took a chance, thought to myself "guts and glory" and went for it..went well =) I chose option 14 the build was the same as mine and it worked like a charm.
I am still left with a few quesitons though...might not be relevant to the thread anymore...
Does the rooting share the same build-match requirement as the flashing of a new operatingsystem?
How do I uninstall apps that were preinstalled on an operatorlocked phone?
Anders - Norway
I think you should look for app in app store, Root App delete or something like that. Then search for you operator apps/files and remove.

1. Bootloader is allready unlocked
2.For how to root look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190&highlight=how+to+root
3. Flash custom recovery, would advice this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZf39vI0Lc. Download the .tar.md5 and flash with Odin in PDA.
4. Go to the CM thread and download the latest nightly and Gapps (Google apps) and place on the sdcard.
5. Go in recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache, format system and data factory reset and then flash the CM rom and Gapps right after another without rebooting, reboot and you`re done.
hi

Is it better to update (to current) android version?

[Q] Vodafone Australia RUU/Nandroid?

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering whether anyone can upload a nandroid backup or RUU (probably doesn't exist) of a stock Australian Voda-Hutch One?
Thanks
I would love an RUU, as of late I havent come across one. I do have a stock ROM nandroid. But I dont have stock recovery, which is what im mostly intersted in finding. How should I upload it?
Glad to see a fellow vodafoner, how's your 4G? :]

Bump, TWRP overwrote my Vodafone Nandroid with ARHD12. I also would like an uploaded backup. :/
Sent from my HTC One
just fyi since you guys are on 4.2 roms now, if you have flashed 2.x firmware (eg. 2.24) the touchscreen will not work on your backup (which I presume is 4.1 with a 1.29.x base)
I learned the hard way, by flashing 2.24 firmware on my stock rooted optus rom while waiting for a 4.2 rom to download. Touchscreen didn't work until I flashed 4.2
Well, there won't be a backup to flash back to, even if I did flash the latest firmware, anytime soon!
Thanks for the heads up.

How to install TWRP in GT-I9220 with Odin? (and more questions)

Hi, How to install TWRP in GT-I9220 with Odin?
Any tutorial for this? I have the galaxy note china version (GT-I9220). I would like put into multi-language version. Is it possible? Any Stock ROM for do it this? I would like one ROM with root and multi-language. If it is not possible also can serve me CWM recovery.
With this phone, is it possible flash ROM file since custom recovery normally? Or is it necessary see the built version before of flashing? how does it works?
Sorry for my poor english and the stupid questions...
Thank you!!
Not sure about the phone but from what I have seen on this phone from searching Google it is not recommended to flash ROMs or other things since it is not a real galaxy note. Or have you flashed anything yet? The ROMs here would not be good for your phone unless you don't want it to work anymore. Try Google on how to root gt-i9220 and see what comes up
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Sorry I made a mistake. The phone is really GT-N7000 (I looked at the back label) but the ROM is of the model GT-i9220 because this model have the language of chinese.
So, the question is: how to install twrp in gt-n7000?
thank you!
