Hello,
I am trying to get a phone for my 17yr old daughter: she is not heavy data user (just web browsing).. I am torn between the Samsung Captivate or Galaxy Ace: I can get both from Amazon for about $150.
Which do you think would give the best bang for the buck (I know I am posting in a Galaxy Ace forum, so I am aware of the implicit biases)?
cheers, MN

Get thr captivate. It has better hardware and overall better than galaxy ace

When I should choose a Phone for my daughter (ok i'm 15 ) I would take the captivate because it's way faster and gots a bigger screen.
Also you've got a faster CPU and more RAM.
And with the small Space in Galaxy Ace's ROM she wouldn't be happy
Thanks, Rawny ...

Samsung is always late with updates
only buy a samsung device to use as is (be happy with what you have)
do not expect updates

It`s been anounced by Vodafone_AU that now they are testing Gingerbread for Galaxy Tab, and we will get it hopefuly this summer
2.3 is out and there is no update for us????
I called them this week and the service center guy said that there were no plans as of yet to update it at all.
I have a sneaking suspicion that gongerbread is goibg to be the last update for all original tabs. Samsung is probly thinking, you want our sweet ass new os, buy our sweet ass new tab.

i am sellin my Samsung Galaxy Tab on amazon.co.uk........
i will not buy the 10.1 model even if the 7 one won't get gingerbread , simply 10.1 is too much for me even the 8.9 is too big , the galaxy tab 7 in not in competiton with the others it is another category
Hi everyone. I will get spare galaxy s for 50$ and i want to modify it. I want to replace galaxy s screen with galaxy s2 screen but i don't know if connectors (motherboard-screen) are same.
P.S. screen size is not a problem because i will make my own case. And resolution on both devices is same.
Sorry for my bad English.

just use a stock rom of galaxy s2. just search it here and you'll have it. after installing the rom, you'll have like the exact look of s2. actually you'll feel you're using galaxy s2, lol

No. I want to connect galaxy s2 super amoled+ screen on GT-I9000 but i don't know if both screens have same connectors that are connecting motherboard with screen.
Software is not a problem as i have created few roms myself.
I am looking for a long time, I finally found this Samsung Galaxy coat with Bluetooth Keyboard,This is perfect combination for Samsung Galaxy Tab.Should I get one?It is really very cheap...
Wrong section mate. Galaxy Ace here.
Also, you should be deciding this sorta thing yourself.. you'll be the one sticking to it, not the other forumers.

I would wait a few more months until the new autumn devices have been announced. perhaps there is a new Nexus device coming up with recent hardware and a budget oriented price?

pros:
1. arm15 on board so future proof
2. realy good build quality (even better than sgs3, and I know what I am talking waiting for delivery of otter box comuter case for my sgs3!! )
3. chaper options for monthly rental, at least 5 to 8 pounds a month.
4 nice screen
cons
1 Not samsung
2 not sgs3

If I need to buy this year,I will buy SGS2.
If I will buy next year,I will buy SGS3.
No-matter SGS2 or SGS3 I will buy used phone and in warranty.
Because in my country just warranty 1yeas and new phone must cost me about $700,so I will buy used phone.
So u guys suggesting a strict no to nexus? I live in india here galaxy s2 is i9100g which is not so good for custom rom..dont hav a budget for s3 or even one s..

I was thinking to switch to a Galaxy nexus, but reconsidered. Now I'll wait for the next nexus(es?) mobiles to be announced and probably get that.

i9100g no good for custom rom lol? CM10 nightlies are available for it already, yet i9100 still doesn't have them.

Bolded text is horribly wrong. The i9100G sports the OMAP4 processor, just like the Galaxy Nexus. It's much easier to develop for this particular chipset if compared to the i9100 Exynos chip, and as the previous poster has pointed out, CM10 nightlies are already out for the i9100G but not for the i9100.
Thank You
Thanks, this helped me too.
lol couldn't wait..already ordered the nexus..hope its as good as the galaxy s turned out to be..thanx guys
Why do you need to upgrade it?
It's funny... even after two years, I haven't found a single phone I'd much rather have than the SGS. Most newer models are just too damn big. The S is the perfect size, and recent software upgrades have made it faster than ever.
Yes the Galaxy S1 is most rom and mods, rather than later, and is still the best.
I love my Galaxy S and I will change it only when it dies.
It still is the best price/performance out there, its size is perfect, it has one of the best sound chips on the market and it has a big list of custom ROMs.
Looking to buy a new phone soon, and just wanted your views on whether this phone has gone aged.

If your price range allows I would invest in an s2 otherwise this is still a highly supported phone

In my opinion it's worth buying

You could also consider the i9001 (Galaxy S Plus), which looks exactly the same as the i9000 but has quite different hardware. At least on paper it's quite a bit better and not nearly as expensive as an SII. I've got one of those and am really happy with it
Yes but the i9001 only has slightly faster CPU and slower graphics you can easily set the i9000 to the same clock speed as the i9001

I asked around on the nexus s forums and they told me not to buy. They say its showing its age.
I'm looking at Xperia S now. Probably gonna buy it.

A rooted Galaxy S I9000 is still pretty good, but if you can afford it I recommend you the Xiaomi MI-2.
I personally think that the i9000 is a great phone. It was my first Galaxy class and is still with me
I rooted the phone and switched over to running JellyBean (SlimRom version) and think it is just great. I do prefer the S2 just because it is that much faster, but finding it hard to part with my trusty original
Good all round phone but a little slow on some of the major games (I believe - though cannot vouch for that)
