Hey there people!
Ok so the HTC Desire C seems to be a non supported device on here there are currently no ROMs for it and even the root/ulbl is not fully tested so devs with HTC experience get here to give this device what it needs!
Anyways the device runs on a 600Mhz processor running a long side 512MB RAM supporting Android 4.0.3 ICS, due to the specs the device can be a little sluggish under high operation situations so here are a few basic tips to help.
Install Zeam Launcher.
A small size launcher that is lightning fast, only thing that rivals it is the FTL launcher and looks like sense 4 launcher.
The launcher size is 338k (Google play size) very fast and minimal looking.
FTL follows the trend but size varies on ur device
Bit-Defender.
This is a tiny anti-malware suite, for full features needs payment, but for free it gives nice protection. and i use the desktop versions so yeah
if you prefer the finding ur device more so i suggest lookout due to free scream/locate and no it does not drain battery life!
Juice Defender.
I listen to music a lot when am out, my old X10 did well with an extended battery and Juice defender installed, so i say add it into the desire C, it actually saves battery and manages ur mobile data/wifi automatically.
(After root)
Install Titanium Backup.
This app is a god send, it can remove files embedded into the /system/app folder, so u can remove crappy HTC Sense launcher, also remove other bloatware and rubbish do be careful tho Rooting does void warrenty and removing apps can stop the device from working (WE NEED A RECOVERY!!)
Sysctl Config
I use this on my X10 for gaming, it provides a bit of a boost to performance not much but its there
(you must have busy box to run this, recommended to have latest superuser installed from Google play)
a scripting program - edit scripts (Advanced users/devs only)
This is what makes roms so dam fast over stock, devs have edited the files to increase VM Heaps and other stuff, if your a noob or no scripting skills dont attempt it wait for a pro to do it for you!
Try overclocking. (Advanced Users/Devs)
I dont know much about HTC kernels im a DoomKernel user for the X10, but he got the kernel another 200Mhz on a single core!
Idk if HTC have left any overclock on the kernel and i dont wanna damage my phone testing it as i got it 3 days ago, so feedback please!
Overclocking is one of the most obvious choices for speed, at the cost of battery life you can put the CPU past its standard levels, speeding up your device.
Personally i dont overclock past what doom set my kernel, if you wish to do it personally use NoFrills CPU (Free) or SetCPU (Paid) both need Root
Ok rant over! most of this stuff may not be yet possible on the device but i hope it does, its a nice little device cheap and cheerful! devs come and unlock the potential it has forget One X n S3 they got there stuff

Speed
Hi,
I'm a new user and I have a question. I just rooted my phone, and flashed up Nameless rom. But it works with 600mHz. Can I involve the speed?
Overclock or something?

Nope Nope Nope ^__^, basically its no good as the Kernal is stock and doesnt permit overclocking.
You should really rename this thread... it has nothing to do with optimizing or speeding up the OS. It just tells you about a bunch of software you could search for on the market, and then says, "oh ya, and overclock."
Performance problem??
Peep my signature..
Deactivating apps which are not really needed also increases the speed, because more resources are available.
I tried that in combination with the overclock kernel and that sped up my phone especially when using apps which needs much ram and cpu-performance.

Removing the sense interface is also speeding up the performance.

no ****, sherlock
And back we are
Lets get a few things updated shall we
_Ayhan_
Apex is a good launcher, bit bigger than Zeam but it works perfectly for me, no lag at all and supports themes!
szilike93 Nameless new ROMs have OC ability, with the correct kernels, as said in my 1st post, i would OC, i used OC on a different ROM and played games, didnt last long under bloon tower defense 5. ive just downloaded a new kernel pack from the dev of Nameless, selected a slight OC, but i shall be still setting max OC to 600Mhz but i will be changing the Governor to InteractiveX and I/O to deadline (Going on what worked best for DoomKernel)
Gamephantom
Yeah removing sense UI would be better off for the phone, but as far even the new "De-Sense" options still have baseline sense installed, until Cyanogenmod works fully we have to stick with it, although the devs have made the device smoother with sense, Cyanogenmod should take the crown
So any updates from me?
Well OC kernels are out and working can try them if you wish, New roms are around which are fast, no new "Super" apps to speak of, just a shame its only a single core 600Mhz, there are some apps im testing and shall report back, such as the Jellybean drivers, see if that wacks my battery using GPU rendering, hopefully not, all testing on Nameless 7.2 with 722Mhz Kernel but will be UC to 600Mhz. Hopefully battery life dont suck, Slimsense still best battery life personally for me
Later Guys!
You want to get a good battery life, just push a stock systemui that don't have battery percentage numbers. Images in stock only have 4-5 batt images, while in percentage it gives accurate %1 reading 100 batt images.

You should do as Xdroidie626 sais.
Download Nameles's ROM and enclosed within You will find 3 kernels. Choose from 2 that allow You to OC Your CPU and flash it.
I'm using the 806MHz Kernel and apart from the obvious, battery life dicreased, can't complain about it at all.
HTC should have released Desire C 806MHz capable in the first place.
Lucky noobs we are to have XDA website and Devs themselves to provide us with tools of salvation from "stock" misery
Btw... Little off-top...
@Einstein.frat
As I mentioned above I'm using Nameless ROM and hereby wish to thank Einstein.frat for his efforts and subsequent effects.

Hi,
I have recently updated my Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 from 2.3.6 (Ginger Bread) to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) but it seems that my phone can't handle it the same manner as what it was when I am using Ginger Bread. It's quite slow and the font is too small even I set the font size to 'Huge'
Is there anyone here who can give me some advice? To be honest, I am a new Android user. I am used to Symbian phone and I just recently moved to Android so I don't know how this totally work.
Any kind of advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Regards,
Heero
Jelly bean ?
Im use cyanmobile by squadzone is stable..
Actually JB is stable, just a bit slower. But if you OC it to 748Mhz max, it will be faster. 748 isn't too much, but you will notice the difference.

I too, just enjoy the new JB updates for a few days and get bored due constant low memory problem - even with extreme tweaking + script - as it closes the apps automatically. For ex. I'm browsing 4-6 Android pages, and when I open dialer - alas the Android had flushed the pages, you would say it needs memory for contacts, but stop, as I said I have extrem..., no contacts, no sms, no gapps, no heavy apps.
JB truly awesome, and very stable, thanks to Jellaxy.
All this sucks heavily :banghead: due to LOW ram of galaxy mini.
But, phew, you can enjoy JB flavor on cyanmobile as s/he said above.
Thanks to squadzone

Cyanmobile is really HEAVY. It takes 2 hours to set it up! And no project butter. The actual speed isn't important for me. I just want a SUPER smooth phone. And JB is really smooth.
Install a script like Slaidy Boost...
OC it. Try 765 mhz or something like this...
Clear cache with App Cache Cleaner
Uninstall apps
Press thanks if I helped you
P.S. don't think this will make your phone work like GB...I have got a tablet with 512mb and ICS and it's not working really good...so better return to Gingerbread

Hi , that´s my opinion
Twice 10.1 or JB port , have a problem with battery duration (and other minor bugs)
the game play are so laggy ,and you really have a slow experience with diary use.
AOkp I think that is trustworthy to the JB use. but the same with lag .
Thanks for your work !!!! and I hope you get new roms updates.
Sorry for my english...
jelly bean requires a lot of more RAM than GB. That's why there is some lag, I suggest to use smartassv2 as CPU governor if you need performance, if you need to save battery use interactiveX.

Is it possible to fix the camera now?. Since preview problem seems to be known now?
i tried installing cm-10.1-20130629-UNOFFICIAL-jena today but get an error 7.
factory reset, cache partition and dalvik cache have been wiped, i`m using cwm 6.0.3.2.
versioncm-10.1-20130611-UNOFFICIAL-jena works without any problems.
what could i be doing wrong ?
edit: i returned to the working version and flashed it new because i finally wanted to get rid of the gapps package i installed before.
however even after flashing 0611 again gapps still seem to be on my system.
do i have to wipe anything else i`m not aware of ? the target is a cyanogen 0611 or 0629 without any gapps
do you have cwm 6.0.3.2 build 4 ?
ohh! it`s build 3 actually!
thx a lot! will give it a try at once
no problem
it worked perfectly thanks again!
the only thing i`m still facing is that gapps still seem to be on the system from a previous installation, although i wiped the 3 settings mentioned above.
is 0629 supposed to have the play store, services and other google named services? can i get rid of them somehow?
edit: solved, i had to format /system /data /cache. now gapps and other parts of the previous installations are definitely gone. happy happy!
The performance greatly depends on the game you're playing. Currently with CM10 20130629 (the NFC patch doesn't work, BTW) I have good performance with Icy Tower 2, but micro lags on Jetpack Joyride. Of course both of these games run perfectly on stock, but Icy Tower 2 has some graphical glitches not appearing on JB. But Jetpack Joyride is a lazy port from iOS and it can stutter even on better phones. But the overall performance is just fluid. Will test Vice City later to see if a lot has changed since April 2013, when I lastly tested VC on CM10.
those "micro lags" are because of RAM. I had an old PC with 256MB (!) RAM like 5-6 years ago, when I played NFSMW, I would get freezes/lags each 3-5 seconds, the loading screen took ages to load, then I put in another 512MB and everything was fine. No lags/freezes, loading screens didn't load forever etc.
On cm10 and cm9 for less ram usage i went to Developer options, scrolled to the bottom and set background processes to 1 or 0.
There are no these options on cm10.1, right? I dont know did you mean slow ramread/write or high usage with old pc example...
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda app-developers app
Ahh...the old-school NFSMW - one of my favorite games of all time.
But Android manages RAM differently than Windows, so 512MB shouldn't be a problem because it runs file on stock 2.3.6.
Looks like Jetpack Joyride stutters when there are certain sprites drawn. Seems to be some kind of GPU thing. If GTA VC runs better than this, I'll uninstall this crap.
That was just an example that RAM matter a lot in games. Temple Run 2 uses >100MB. Imaging what more demanding games require. I have about ~50-60MB free RAM when the phone is idle.
I have 210 at idle and still same lag and low fps as it is when 120 is free
Edit: cm9 has more than 100mb/s faster ram read speed than cm10, .1, aokp. And it has performance as good on 800mhz as cm10 has at 1.05ghz. Stock rom read is 500 mb/s, cm9 450, cm10 350
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda app-developers app
Well, looks like that's the problem. I noticed that actually earlier when people were posting benchmark results, everything was higher than on stock, except for the RAM speed.
I guess there's nothing to do about it? It's all in the kernel.
Probably gpu performance depends on ram speed... So improving ram speed will improve gaming performance and overal performance of the device in cm9, cm10, cm10.1 and aokp.
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda app-developers app
thanks for your job TheWhisp CM 10.1 is awesome like you thank you very much
I don't know which games you play but I play various gba roms and hacks via my boy emulator and it is very smooth. those temple run etc. do not appeal to me. If they were then probably I would have bought a better phone. but know this. Mini 2 is not a phone to play games.
oh and a question to @TheWhisp cm10.1 or aokp. whats the difference. which one do you prefer?
You fixed camera using same liboemcamera?

I created this thread in order to know if you use any performance engine or tweaks (like V6 supercharger aka Black dog, adrenaline engine, crossbreeder,...).
If you do, you could give your opinion in how it affects your device (please also specify your android version).
If you don't, you could explain why you haven't got any performance engine.
I personally used to tweak my old phone (Galaxy Y) because it needed to be tweaked in order to be used. This summer I tried v6 supercharger on CM10.1 but I didn't notice any changes. Maybe they're useless for good phones ^_^.

i tried pure performance, noticed abit of increase in smoothness and speed but i wouldnt use it personally though, i like it stock and simple

Oh yes I used it too on my old phone and a bit on CM10.1 which make it very smooth but then the battery wouldn't last even half a day.
Now I'm using omni rom without any tweaks.

Hi iam new here
I have s advance with android 4.1.2 stock rom and with cocore e 6.2 kernal
The problem is I like playing games on my phone like asphalt 8 but sometimes it lags and
Crash because of low free ram , the used ram is about 515 . So I heard about a method to increase
Ram capacity by swap partion . So I was wondring if this method works on my phone ? and will it
Make Games run faster and wont make any problems to the phone ?
Please respond
Thanx
AFAIK those things are for phones with only 512 MB (or less) RAM.. I also heard that using your external SD card as ram for long time can damage it. But I don't know if that's true...
Like many other latest games, Asphalt 8 is a very "heavy" game.. so it requires newer and better hardware.. our phone's GPU can't handle this game with ease so that's why it lags... so its not only because of RAM, its also because of the GPU and CPU.. so I don't think it will make any drastic increase in performance or fps..
Take a look at CoCore's thread.. I think Cocafe mentioned how to use zRam and Swap using init.d scripts..
PS: Use a good Custom ROM with the latest version of CoCore kernel.. version 6.2 is quite old.. or use CM ROMs...

Thanks for replaying . not only asphalt 8 lags but also some other games like sonic dash and temple run ..etc
And I downloaded and installed cocore e 8 it made my battry runs out fast so installed cocore 6.2 which saves battry .
And idont know alot about custom roms but you may tell me the best one and has no bugs .
CM 10.2 latest build is very good. Extremely stable. Battery is decent, still less than satisfactory. No bugs AFAIK . No random reboots. No force closes. Games that work very smoothly - temple run (all versions),subway surfers, dead trigger 1 & 2 ,GTA vice city.
Asphalt 8 lags when started but settles down afterwards and works decently.
P.S. - Don't judge your phone performance on basis of used RAM. Jelly bean is supposed to use more RAM.
Hope I helped.
