Hello,
I just had a quick question. I noticed that when you enter the boorloader of a stock device, you do't have the "recovery"menu.... only installing a custom recovery (e.g clockwork), will give you access to the recovery menu. Yesterday, I reverted back to the stock developper recovery and again, i don't have the "recovery" menu option once in the bootlader. Is this normal ?
thank you
Greg

ClockworkMod recovery wont boot up AT ALL
It wont let me in my recovery settings.
Pressing the down volume button and the power button gives me the recovery option, but will do the same exact thing.
In fact the second I go to it from ROM manager the screen goes black and then takes me to my HTC screen and just stays there.
I cant even go back to factory settings.
I would like to just restore my origional phone/settings and just forget about this whole flashing rom idea.
PLEASE help me. How do I get to my restore so I can go back to my old settings???

2 options you can try.
1. Copy the ClockworkMod.zip to the root of your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip and then boot into HBOOT and let it reinstall CWM.
2. Boot into HBOOT and use the FASTBOOT command to flash the CWM recovery image.
Not sure which one you had used before, but it would be worth trying the other option.

or even easier, install ROM manager from the market and use the one click option install CWM mod from within that.
Thanks...I used Android Flash 1.8 to flash the recovery back on my phone!!! And went from there. Actually the **4EXTRecovery_v2.1.0_RC1_vivo** is better to use for recovery and flashing in my opinion...Thats what I used..
Thanks for the reply guys.
So I'm trying to flash a custom ROM but my phone either doesn't want me to or I've misread something.
I'm running the C6603 rooted w/ locked bootloader and CWM recovery 6.0.2.8 for locked BLers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363 and lastly the stock ROM
I'm trying to install Avatar ROM but for some reason I can't get into recovery. The page says pressing volume up when the green light flashes while powering up will go into recovery but I can't get there. When I do it nothing happens. I've tried pressing and holding both volume up/down to no avail.
My bootloader also seems to be acting weird as when I boot into it it's just a black screen with my LED lit up blue.
If anyone could help me out that would be great. This isn't my first flash but this one is bamboozling me. Also, yes the button does actually work.
You need to unlock your bootloader before flashing AOSP/CM based roms as they require a custom kernel.

Black screen + Blue LED = Fastboot mode = Your bootloader. This is totally normal, nothing to worry about.
Anyway, there is no way for you to install avatar rom, as it needs an unlocked bootloader in order to install the cm kernel. If you can unlock it, then do so.
Once you HAVE unlocked your bootloader (You'll lose BRAVIA engine 2 btw) there is still a problem getting into CWM...
A user on the topic fixed it so you'll have to do a bit of searching within the topic to find it. But installing CWM from the OP will mean you can't get into it on the latest firmware.
Another work-around is to use TWRP. You can reboot into the recovery from the app provided but if your phone messes up and won't boot you can't get into recovery to flash a backup.
It's on page 56 of this thread! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363&page=56
Second post from bottom!
Thanks all
Thanks for the help all. I've thanked you all.
Just to make sure I've got this right can I use Doomlords kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172888
Once I've flashed the kernel do I already have recovery installed (as Doomlords' adv it has both CWM and TWRP (how does dual recovery work anyway?)) or do I still have to manually flash through fastboot?
If anyone can show me another kernel to use or the correct one that would be great.
Cheers all

If you've unlocked your bootloader then yes, you can use Doomkernel.
It's best to flash the Doomkernel zip in your existing recovery rather than in fastboot.
After flashing Doomkernel you will have dual recovery, it's basically the same as normal recovery except for the volume up key is CWM and volume down key is TWRP.
Hi,
i've recently unlocked the boot loader of my honami and flashed
philz_touch_6.08.9-honami-FIXED-4.3_fw-290-DooMLoRD
as recovery and as boot to be able to install a custom rom. I've have installed pac_honami-lp-Nightly-20150413. Now i'm not able to enter the recovery upon boot via hotkeys (vol up/down, camera button). However i can enter the recovery by selecting the option rebooting into recovery from within the running rom.
Edit:
It was a problem in the rom. I recognized that i had taken the wrong version. Using a more recent version, the problem was gone.
Anyone has an idea what i had done wrong and can help me out?
Thanks very much in advance!
Hi,
I have installed twrp recovery on my phone (Moto titan). When I restart using power + vol down button I get a bootloader option which includes Normal startup , recovery , factory etc..
Selecting recovery from the bootloader options takes me to a blank screen and not into twrp recovery.
The only way I can manage to enter twrp recovery is by using "adb reboot recovery."
Any suggestion on how I can enter my twrp recovery directly using my phone key instead of adb.
+1 for me
Chances are you might have done something wrong while installing TWRP.
Try installing it again!
Hope it works. If it doesn't, reply!
Cheers!
Hi,
I try to install TWRP Recovery on my samsung sm-t815 i use ODIN with any version the Flash is OK
but the original recovery is restoring everytime. :/
I have this rom : T815XXU2CRH1_T815XEF2CRH1
i have try CF-Auto-Root-gts210lte-gts210ltexx-smt815
but i have a message Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing and the original recovery is restoring too
I want to install lineage16 but i can't install another recovery than original rom
I have not "oem unlock" in option dev
I don't no why i try , i try but nothing
Can you help me please ?
Regards
My guess is you arent using the key press to reboot into TWRP. IF you dont do that, it automatically overwrites what you flashed. As soon as your tab reboots you have to hold down Home+power+vol up the first time.
If anyone knows a way around the keypress let me know, my volume up key sticks and i cant get it to boot into recovery.
HI
Yes but i stay blocked at samsung logo start white, i can't go to recovery, juste go to download mode :/
