[Q] [I9001] Will my apps from ICS work on JB? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As stated above will the apps I run on ICS work on JB?

Yup, unless an app hasn't been updated for so long that so it doesn't support JB (although most apps do support JB so you shouldn't have any problems)

If its gapps then no, normal apps would. Just restore then with titanium backup. You'll have to do a factory reset when you go from ICS to JB!

How to flash S Memo on CM 10

I was using stock ics 4.0.4 rooted until now when i found the official cm 10 nightlies. I flashed this rom and i am loving it. But the problem is that i am used to of my s memo and s note. Can i get both the apps in cm 10????
I know its a part of TW and is not a standalone app. But if there is a way or possibility please let me know.

There is an app called Gnote in the apps and themes section. That will work on cm10. Its similar to Smemo

problem booting

hello all i flashed jb xxlsc on my gnote rooted and having cwm
after intsalling apps from app backup when i flash anything on it like playstation certificates or xperiia launcher for our device it just freezes at galaxy note bootup splash screen it never gets boot till i factory reset my phone i tried differnt rom like ultimate rom latest and firmware zslm5 all have same problem i am using philz kernel latest. plzz help i wasnt having this problem on ics . plzz help this is a request
i got this problems wif xxlsc too....
i think u need to do it all over it again by not restoring any backup data as most of the custom rom might not tally wif ur previous rom.
cuz different romers have differents deodex system. check it out or someone will give u the right answer !
so far i'm not getting any bootloop when battery is flatt or during screen on pulled out battery n it's startup normally
just like official rom does !
What data are you restoring? Restoring system apps can cause boot loops or force closes.

Just manually paste the apk's which are needed to be in system otherwise try installing them normally don't use titanium for restoring system apps.. Just a advice

You want to install CM10.1, so why not follow the safe installation instructions in the thread there?
It is clear that you do not need to switch to GB. And it is made clear when you have to to the wipes.
Everything you need is here
Then you should know that the FM radio (the only alternative is spirit FM and it doesn't come for free) and all samsung apps (s note) won't work.

Not so sure. This thread wasn't updated since sep 12th and hasn't any entry related to 10.1. I prefer to follow the installation instructions of the original thread from the Rom developer or Rom builder.

They said that flashing from a stock ics will result in a brick so the best way is to switch to GB?

just make sure you are on a safe kernel.. thats all.. no need for GB ... use Philz kernel or speedmod

[Q] ICS update

Soo now tht we have official ics , of course I updated to it , I was wondering if we could flash p920 ICS ROMs and kernels? The stock kernel is kinda laggy. Also, could I go to cm10 from ICS or would I need to downgrade back to GB...srry for the noob question lol

Yes you can. I am running xbsall v7.2 acid ROM on my p925 after flashing v30b. Works great. Thanks xbsall! You can run cm10 still but there something you have to change in the file. Look here for what you need to change. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2205330

Downgrade Note from 4.1.2 to 4.0.4

Hi,so I read a lot of articles about this and I'm aware of the brick bug so I checked my Note with the emmc brick bug check and it showed that I have a sane chip.I got my Note with 4.1.2 and I'm not rooted and I don't need root.So my question is can I safely downgrade to ICS and upgrade it back to JB if I wanted to?I really do not want to mess something up before I begin.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes you can if you follow proper procedures and take precautions.
That is if I follow the Odin Pc procedure of flashing? And ofcourse not doing the factory or any kind of wipe/reset on ICS?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
On ICS, just dont do any Wipe while on stock ICS kernel.. You can install a safe kernel like Speedmod / Philz (for ICS ofcourse) and then perform wipes.
- When downgrading from JB to ICS using odin, it may end up in a boot loop.. its better to wipe data while on JB then flash ICS using Odin.
Will try today.I like the older ICS Touchwiz more.
