Black nexus 4 is sexier in my opinion

Black is definitely sexier.
Though, I also read that LG won't make another nexus..

I was thinking of getting it for a long time now, upgrading from my white Gnex. However, the HTC one is looking mighty fine as well. Sense 5.0 vs Stock... Not pulling a trigger, just yet.

Except the S4 looks horrible and has the worst colors, looney tunes style. So it's either N4 with stock or HTC One with Sense 5, which feels and looks a lot like stock android. The Google version of the One will feel like a Nexus phone, obviously. I usually hate OEM skins, but Sense 5.0 I could definitely live with.

But who wants to pay at least $300 more dollars for a stock HTC One without all the HTC camera software improvements? Might as well go get the HTC First (facebook phone) and remove facebook to use a stock phone, which is practically being given away for free now.

it's for 850$ here but the specs beside the camera which i didn't like are awesome so that's the point of a stock one if u don't like sense get the stock one
and facebook phone really ?? might just get a galaxy s2 and flash latest CM10.1 is a better idea
Does mean we might see 4.3 soon?

No. CEO came out and said he was misquoted, and of course they would be happy to work with Google again.
So there.
It looks awful in white because there are too many black parts. That's the issue I have with most phone manufacturers that aren't Nokia. They never go "all-in" with their phone designs. They just half-ass it, including Apple.

I HAVE THE AMAZE, HTC BLOWS..... THEY ARE SUCH EVIL PR!CKS!
I would suggest going with Samsung..... there is way more development for samsung than there is for HTC..... I doubt that the new HTC devices will have much development either.... Having a great phone with no development .... is like not having a great phone at all....

heard many negative comments on performance of htc one x...it's dealing with several issues such as low battery life overheating and bla bla( inquired about it from the people who own One X.)
But the Plus Point about htc -> Very nice interface. that's the only thing attracts me !...

yea...i am just waiting for sgs3 to hit market first then i will analyse what people got to say about sgs3.
UI of Galaxy S3 sucks like anything... ( saying it on my personal experience of handling sgs2 ) Other wise it's perfect in each and every prospect ...well nearly perfect just bit confused what to get and what not to...not interested in sony's xperia s (12mp camera phone) got Sony DSC-HX200V to capture pics...

Every HTC device overheats, every single one, just more noticeable as you get into dual-core and quadcore processors, something HTC will never fix. That's the reason I want to buy a SGS2 ( and super amoled+ screen), their UI is AWFUL but yet again, there are roms e.g. don2012 is working on porting sense 4.0 to SGS2.

You wouldn't have said that about the Sensation. The problem with that device is 768Mb of RAM isn't enough. I have the Amaze as well, and while development is lacking on it, it's NOT because the device sucks. It's because most devs went for the Sensation and then skipped over the Amaze....AND UNTIL RECENTLY, NO S-OFF....
Meh.... From my Amaze 4G

In my opinion, Sense always looked more mature and "grown-up" (as in more fully developped and complete). Thats why I liked it (plus all the other eye-candy ) But with Sense 5, it looks really cartoonish
Now itd be something entirely different if they really cut down on the resources Sense took up.
I dislike it.
It isn't sense anymore....
they removed the flippy clock, and introduced blinkfeed....
Blinkfeed would have been fine if you could remove it, but no.

Then, would you consider that HTC may give that option to choose what Sense version install on the phone? Well on the 2013 phones of course..., imagine: you buy a HTC One, then it give you the chance to test for a few days what Sense use, after that, your decission will installed forever...

Hello
As you know the release of Samsung Galaxy S4 GE and HTC One GE offering the same flavour as Nexus users already have a taste for.
Do you think inclusion of the new type of camera app and various other features in these junks defeats the purpose of owning a Nexus? It is we who should get the update of even a minute bug squash or changes to any core app.
What would be the update cycle of these junk phones? Will the Android updates be prioritised for the Nexus or will it released for the junks together?
Sorry for being rude, as a loyal Nexus fan, I seriously hate these so called idiotic Google Edition.

I'm right there with you buddy. The reason I love Nexus devices is, if something goes wrong I can flash the factory image and everything is good again. No factory image from Google = no go for me.
Edit: Before I start to see "HTC has the ruu and Samsung phones use Odin to flash back to stock". I don't like one click methods. I want to fastboot flash all the images one at a time so I can see what's going on.

Its the same thing... You can see it happening step by step and what's occurring during each step.. That's silly if you ask me..
What turns me off is the simple fact that they are fake nexus devices.. While we will get Google updates almost immediately, those devices still have to rely on HTC or Samsung remembering to keep their thumbs out of their asses..

I sound like a broken record saying this since day 1. The OEMs have to put their proprietary drivers and kernels (firmware) into the image or the software wont' know how to communicate with the hardware. I guess if the OEMs were willing to release them to Google then I guess Google could handle the updates. Then you have to ask: why would Google take on that responsibility? Would the OEMs openly give Google those drivers in a day and age where anyone can sue anyone over anything because something looks similar to something else? None of that makes sense.
Yeah I'm kinda dissapointed... I want the latest and greatest on my N4 but still don't have it... Hopefully it's just a matter of days... Hopefully hours....

I don't understand what you are saying. What other "features" are you talking about? A red phase beam wallpaper? These phones haven't been released yet. My guess is the N4 will get those changes when 4.3 is released which may come before the GE phones are even released. Most likely lots of backend changes to the camera were needed to get it to work with the new driver hardware in the GE phones.
Once they launch will be the last time they have something the Nexus doesn't. The moment Google said that HTC/Samsung were responsible for updates and they weren't hosting/posting source means those phones will almost certainly be behind the Nexus.

That's the point, why are GEs getting the new camera app with new arc like settings and Nexus are left behind. Why is that "we" should wait for 4.3 and expect that the new camera would be included in that. It is a clear blow to the loyal Nexus owners who actually gets all updates to the Android first, even a small bug squash.
And talking about other features, I'm sure there would be some still hidden not available to the Nexus owners.

Hmm...wait and watch.
why are some people sooo sensitive, "my nexus should get this first" , "all others must wait" ...
look a little out of the box, these Google Edition phones are promoting stock android, whether they'll get updates parallel with the nexus or will join after a few days/weeks delay it doesn't matter. We all want more stock android options, and that's a step in the right direction, popularizing stock bloat-free android.
So, yeah, grow up and stop acting like samsung galaxy/iphone/etc.. blinded fanboys.
Can't believe you guys are complaining about a new camera app and live wallpaper. Nexus is just asop pure android 100% Google stuff... Doesn't mean Google owes us latest of the latest updates.

Hello everybody!
Yes its been like for ever since i broke my HTC First and moved on and since then ive had an Atrix HD and now have a Red Nexus 5. Running lollipop.
But still i look back to this phone and still think this is probably the best phone ive owned. All day battery, great size and build quality, stock android. Yes development was always a minus, but still.
How is everyone doing?
PS: thinking of getting my sister an HTC First, its a pretty solid device hardware wise and she doesnt care much about software, she is using an old ipod touch and an ipad, shes tired of ios
Good to see someone else converting to the Android master race > lol. I agree with the fact that the battery generally lasted all day, but the lack of speed is what caused me to want to get something better. But yeah it was a good device when I came from a MyTouch 3G and then 3 Windows Phones.
Off topic here, are you seeing any drop in battery life on the official Lollipop update on your N5 compared to an AOSP version from a few days ago?

Haha I've converted to android since 2011 and my sister never likes apple anyways.
Miss this community so much, looks like everyone has left like Abraham and loir.
Um at first battery life was more like battery death but after a reboot and full charge I did manage to get my minimum of 4 hours screen on time. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get 5 hours.
I was thinking moto g, vs the HTC first, but I haven't found anything in it that is better than in the First. Especially for my sis who has really small hands surprisingly (she's 5 years younger but as big as me and I'm 19...)
still using my First and still hoping to get at least KitKat so that i can pair with android wear...
but looks like no luck and i have to change my phone soon.

but seriously between first and Moto G, i'll get the moto G
at least you get official Lollipop support. 5 hrs SOT.

I just hate to see such a good device "go to waste".
I also wish i could port cm11, atleast learn some how, but my only computer is my desktop at home, and internet at 700kbps is not enough to do anything except browse the web. But if internet wasnt a problem id definitely try even though i have no idea how.
CM puts so much effort into mainstream devices that will get updates anyways and never focus on forgotten devices.

Yeah and it's sad because it didn't use to be like that. It's gonna be even worse when CM12 is released because they said that if a device 1) is not owned by maintainers or 2) can't cooperate with the new security measures then they won't support it at all.

I dont want to upgrade also, I know i'll miss the design of the First if I sell it
I agree, First is a great phone, stylish, great design and ergonomics, i will keep this phone no matter what. My daily driver is Moto X, 2013 model. I like to use my phone in one hand, never liked anything over 4.7-in screen size, have had Samsung S3, original Note, Note 2 and Note 3, traded them all, although i really liked S3 the most, couldn't live with the Notes. Htc First has become my backup phone. Previously, i used a Palm Pre Plus as my backup, but i finally traded it in.

Yeah totally agree. I have a nexus 5 right now and it's quite great for one handed use. But looking for a first for my mom

Not that I know of. It's strange considering getting drivers for this chip set should be a piece of cake...
with my twitter feed blowing up with 5.0 this 5.0 that im kinda wondering when we will get some 5.0 release
Rumors are sometime in December.
Doubt if I'll accept the update.
This is the first android device i bought new. My rooted s4 was used. I got sick of all the glitchyness with the rooted phone. My note 4 is completely stock and I couldnt be happier with how silky smooth touchwiz is. Im not even sure im interested in uograding to lollipop.

That's fine but that's not what's being asked lol
Woa bro, asking for ETA is so rude.
I kid, hopefully soon. I like the material design and animations. I have 5.0 on my Nexus 5 and it's silky smooth.
yea have it on my N5 and N7
I am planning on buying a moto x just to experience the lollipop goodness lol

Sorry, just wanted to add my .02. I dont think anyone on this forum can accurately answer the op's question.
I'm running Firekat on my Note and it's simply amazing. I am interested in Lollipop but to be honest, I am extremely happy with how my phone is running now.
To answer the OP, I read somewhere that the update would hit around February.

I work for tmobile and the Samsung rep told me within 90 days ..idk if that helps but he's always given me accurate info
I don't know guys......5.0 could be a silent Ebola for our N4.
Google's been doing some weird things lately. Lock down stuff weird. This is the first time I'm like...eehhh.....what is to come?
Having a new design is one thing, but....getting a shot where you have no idea what's in it is pretty eerie.

Devs.
Something on a smaller scale, but just as frustrating back in the day was the whole 4.4 thing where you couldn't go back to 4.3 ... remember that?
5.0 will be the death of Knox since it's built in to 5.0

My uncle works as an assistant to Samsung Mobile, development in the united States. He said last Friday during lunch he and a colleague in software said they have a final build, giving to carriers next week, so before January 2015 it should be on all four major carriers
