T-Mobile LTE Spotted in Brooklyn, NY! - Nexus 4 General

Set APN for LTE along with other options and got it in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY.
The network icon says "4G", 19Mb down, 8Mb up.I'm on CM10.1
Just an FYI for my Brooklyn people

Thanks for letting us know. A lot of LTE networks are being flipped on so we've made a specific thread for it here

All of a sudden...getting Rogers 3G on x1i

OK, I must be dreaming! I looked at my x1i today, and I'm suddenly getting 3G/H. Until today, I've always only had Edge.
fieldtest.exe band shows 255:unknown
Ran speed test from dslreports.com using Opera; showing 1124 kbit/sec for a 1MB file test. Ran again with IE and got 1190 kbit/sec
I know the hardware specs on the x1i don't match up with Rogers 3g network, so did Rogers change their network recently?
This is an unlocked x1i with Generic UK ROM 1.05.931.10 R3AA010
I'm in Aurora, Ontario (north of Toronto).
Anyone else seeing this?
Rogers rolling out 3G on the 1900MHz band or you have an X1a.
I've had this x1i since December. So does anyone know if Rogers is changing, and has anyone else suddenly seen 3g?
I started noticing the 3G symbol about 2 days ago myself here in Toronto, before that it was 95% of the time E and sometimes just G. Now its 95% 3G and its unusual for it to go to E anymore. No idea though on benchmarks since I don't have a Data plan at the moment and so I only use it when I really need to. Will see if any friends have a data plan though and don't mind me borrowing my SIM for a few minutes and giving it a try, because I'm curious now. Getting the 30 fps VGA recording and 3G locally - that'd be awesome .

Thanks, pdamouse. This gives me hope that Rogers has changed their 3g network, and that I'll now finally have a really cool phone.
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
Anyone have a tech contact at Rogers that might be able to confirm?
maybe you just passed by one of the very few 1900mhz towers
Called Rogers tech support earlier; the rep I spoke with had no idea, so he asked a colleague. The colleague apparently said they now support all 4 frequencies.
The colleague was on a call, so I couldn't get any further info.
So theoretically, I was told that Rogers is now running 3g on 850, 900, 1900, 2100 mhz.
I have not been able to find anything on Rogers' site to confirm in writing.
Anyone else able to confirm?
Aha! Think it may be related to Rogers introduction of the HSPA+ ROCKET™ MOBILE INTERNET STICK
See: http://your.rogers.com/Store/Wireless/products/rstick_info.asp
Specs there indicate:
Technology: HSPA+/EDGE/GSM
Frequency:
HSPA+/UMTS 850/1900/2100Mhz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900Mhz
Data Transmission:
HSDPA – Up to 21Mbps downlink
HSUPA – Up to 5.76Mbps uplink
Great I am not the only one that noticed this. Last week I was walking to the subway and noticed 3G and H on my phone. I was blown away! I spent the weekend downtown and had 3G/HSPA everywhere. Couldn't do a speedtest but it was definately faster than EDGE.
From what I noticed, downtown Toronto now has 1900 3G but as you leave the city towards Mississauga you go back to EDGE.

Got the same situation on last Friday when driving at 401 and 404. But didn't get a chance to test the speed before it jumped back to EDGE.
I'm getting 3g consistently in Aurora and Newmarket. Better in some areas than others.
Also noticed 3g as I was coming down the 404.
Now in Pickering, and it's completely back to edge.
ok wtf, i bought my phone from rogers, and i've been getting 3G and H for a month now, but i just checked settings->device information->identity and under model it says x1i not x1a. anyone else noticing this? maybe because of custom rom?
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4579528
go into Settings, System, Device Information. Select the Hardware tab. Beside the first entry, CPU, you'll see one of two things:
"QUALCOMM(R) 7200A" means you've got X1i
"QUALCOMM(R) 7201A" means you've got X1a

lol I live within 200 meters of where those highways meet (404/DVP and 401) - that might be why I've been seeing 3G on my phone 100% of the time I'm at home. I never thought being this close to the busiest highway intersection in Canada would help me get better cell reception - but apparently it does .

this was indeed due to the HSPA+ roll out rogers recently did. i can confirm this is the same situation on the west coast in Vancouver...thank you Rogers, now bell and telus the balls in your court.... pick it up!!

Lucky you. The 3G signal disapears at Finch, so I still can only get EDGE at home. Hopefully more towers will be upgraded soon.
Today I managed to stay in place long enough to do a speed test.
I got 2.2mbs down and 0.65 up. Not really mind blowing but I was in a building and wasnt getting full signal. Also, there is 3G in north Mississauga, it's weird.

Sorry man, I'm sure they will be adding more towers - the area is expanding quite quickly. I was suprised at getting the signal more than anything, and someone mentioning right where I live as the place they see it - I way way over use the : P smiley...
wait a second here
This thread doesn't make sense - I have read elsewhere that the X1a and the X1i have identical cell frequencies.
To confirm, can someone with an X1i do the following:
Go Start > Settings > Personal > Phone.
Select the Band tab.
The second drop-down box entitled "Select your GSM/UMTS band" should give the following options:
Auto
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900)
GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
UMTS(2100)
Those are the options I get on my X1a, purchased directly from Rogers. Aren't those the options on your X1i as well?

I actually get this on my X1i:
Auto
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(900+2100)
GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
UMTS(2100+800)
But we are discussing 3G support and HSDPA - they use different frequencies for that here as opposed to Europe, and the X1i uses those European Frequencies, while the X1a is specialized for North America. The GSM Quadband is a given that it will work everwhere there is GSM - but the 3G bands are not universal.

HSPA+ AT&T?

I read a while back that some Nexus One owners with T-Mobile could enable some sort of setting that would allow them to reach higher speeds, possibly due to the HSPA+ network T-Mobile rolled out.
Today, AT&T announced they would be rolling out LTE later this year but already had a "4G" HSPA+ network widely deployed. My question is can those of us on an AT&T band Nexus One tap in to HSPA+ like the T-Mobile owners did?
If I am missing something here, Please let me know. I am always willing to learn more
Thanks in advance.
The nexus one has a Max dl speed of 7.2, which is not part of the hspa+ '4g' network. Once hspa+ is activated in your area you will see speed increases due to increased overall network improvements, but you will not see hspa+ speeds.
The tmobile setting you are probably referring to is just a change in the build.prop file from ro.ril.hsxpa=1 to hsxpa=2.

[Q] T mobile 3G/4G after unlock/debrand?

Hi All,
Is there *any* way I can get 3G/4G speeds on Samsung Focus S? I saw the unlock/debrand thread. Will it also enable 3G speeds on t-mobile network or is it hardware related and there is nothing we can do about it?
~ai2160
hardware...
My Focus S did 4G right out of the box.
The main reason you might not be able to get higher speed data lines is because of the frequencies your carrier uses to support those data feeds. Not all carriers are using the same bands. Rogers (here in Canada) uses the same bands as AT&T, so you pretty well have to wait until you can find an AT&T phone to buy to make it work.
T-Mobile in the US uses different bands, so their phones will only do E here in Canada. Likewise, and unlocked AT&T phone will only do E on T-Mobile in the US.
HOW THE F$%& do we get MMS to work if on Tmobile????
that is good
That is good? What are you talking about... @waswaser quit posting random **** to get enough posts to spam the threads! Anyways I finally got data for Tmobile and now I have MMS Woohoo! AT&T is refarming some towers so people with unlocked AT&T phones will get 3g/4g on Tmobile, that will start 2013 i believe...
"T-Mobile reiterates their wish to launch 4G HSPA+ in the 1900 band in a
large number of markets by the end of the year. Current testing shows a
33% increase in HSPA+ data speeds and improved in-building coverage.
“Rolling out 4G HSPA+ services in the 1900 MHz band will also offer
customers with the ability to use a broader range of devices"
in other words... Focus S should work @ HSPA+ by the end of the year (if you are in the right market. Which, selfishly, should include NYC)
You lucky son.... Anyways I get great reception where I life, but it's more of a rural town Northwest of SEATTLE. I've tried AT&T phones here and I get HSDPA+ so would I get it when Tmobile is done refarming? I'd be happy with 3g though as EDGE blows...
that is good

T-Mobile Compatible?

I LOVE THIS PHONE. I don't care about reviews because everyone is biased in some way.
Anyways, the specs on Motorola's site are as follows:
NETWORKS
WCDMA 1900/850/2100/1700
GSM 1900/850/900/1800, LTE Band 04/Band 17, HSDPA 21.1 Mbps (Category 14), HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
I noticed the frequencies can reach T-Mobile possibly with those bands for 3G. 4G is stupid, just another hype I get better data on 3G than 4G in Florida. Even in Miami it's just pointless to go for 4G on T-Mobile.
NEVERMIND IJUST READ ANOTHER THREAD. Works fine on 21 band TMO Network.

[Q] 6903 on Canadian Fido lte

Has anyone gotten their z1 LTE working on canada fido?
i've got a 6903, and i swear before i inserted the apn manually i've seen 4g on my status bar. could be just my imagination.
i've tried internet.fido.ca for apn and i'm limited to H+. when i go online and they suggested ltemobile.apn, i couldn't get data at all.

I'm on Rogers, which is the same service and I get 4G using ltemobile.apn. I'm more than happy with this and have been getting 38 mbit on speedtest.
I've not seen the LTE icon tho, and either I cannot get it in this area (which seems unlikely as I am in downtown Vancouver) or this phone will not do LTE as it does not have the 700 band.

I see a 4G icon and have not seen the LTE icon. I've read the manual and it mentions a LTE icon but not a 4G icon, but that's what I have. For all I know I am actually getting LTE.
I had thought that LTE was even faster then this, especially in major cities near antennas.
But from what I have read a lot of LTE users do not even get the speeds I am seeing so I am quite pleased with this phone's data connection as it is.
I am on TELUS and when i originally got the phone it only showed 4G. I have however updated to 534 and it now shows LTE. Hope that helps?

I'm on 534 now. Can I ask what sort of speeds you are getting?
LTE coverage on the Z1 is more spotty though compared to my previous Note 2. Also Telus lacks access to 2600mhz LTE from Bell/Rogers which offers higher speeds.
hey guys, if you are getting anything above 30mbps/download.. especially member 30 Seconds who is getting 48mbps, that's definitely LTE. I just wanted to confirm that you DONT need the 700Mhz to be on LTE. I called Fido on separate occasions due an initial 'not-so-bright' rep who take ages to answer my question and eventually needed to ask her co-worker for help (I don't know how they get hired.. lol) and both Fido employees have stated that ONLY 2100 and 2600 Mhz is needed for LTE. I questioned if support for 700Mhz is needed and they said no. I still am not able to test out my Z1 yet which is still in the box so hopefully somebody can come forward and verify that they see their C6903 showing the LTE symbol on Fido or Rogers.
The frequencies are used differently.
High frequency in urban areas for throughput. Low frequency for less dense areas, more range and penetration. So, what you"need" depends on where you are basically.
