Hello
I've rooted my xperia t to install a custom mod on it. But I haven't had the time for it to install it. Recently I started to use my xperia to listen to music more, and when I unplug my headphone, my xperia sometimes thinks my headphone is still plugged and doesn't play any sound through the speakers. So I've missed already several times my alarm. I use the standard in ear headphone of apple, the ones you get free with your ipod.
So before I install a custom rom, I want to know if this is because I rooted my phone or it is a common problem and how to fix it? I already googled it, but I didn't find anything useful. Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Greetings

Hello, this does happen sometimes on my phone too!!
This is not because of phone being rooted.
My phone is rooted too.
All you have to do, is re-plug the headphones in the socket and then take it out and this should make the speakers work,
If not, you can always reboot the phone.

Yes, I've figured that out aswell, but it's annoying. Sometimes I forget to check if my sound works, I set my alarm and it doesn't go off. AFAIK, it's a software problem, so wouldn't be there anything to fix this problem? Wierd, sony never released anything to fix this problem as other people have the same problem aswell. Now I'm afraid to install a custom rom on it due to warranty, as maybe I will have to bring my phone in to fix it.
Same bug exists with Xperia V

Yes, this same bug exists on my Xperia V as well. However, one would suspect it could be a hardware fault, mainly because if it was present on every Xperia V/T phone out there, there would logically be a LOT more uproar about it.
If anyone knows whether or not the actual cause of this, do let me know. Some people are pointing to Sony's Smart Connect as being the culprit, but I have tried both disabling all its features, and also editing the headset and headphone profiles to FORCE (=add actions) sound mode to normal and volume to a certain point upon removal of headset - no help. In fact, on my phone not even plugging the headset back in and out helps, I seem to always need to reboot.
Official response from Sony is "we cannot reproduce the problem". But it is relatively widespread.
Just to let you know, and I'm not 100% sure about this "fix", but so far so good.
I downgraded Smart Connect via Google Play ("uninstall", so all updates gets removed) and deleted all headphone and headset events in the old version (the Music on the go and Music at home events). Been using the phone for a day without the bug appearing now - so if you're willing to part with Smart Connect's features, this might help you too.
Hi thanks for the heads up. I'll look into this after my exams. Yes I'm willing to delete smart connect. Never used it and I should even look it up to know what it means

Two days ago I downgraded Smart Connect. Looks like that's the fix. I still haven't had the issue since I downgraded Smart Connect. Thanks for the tip!
This bug seems have been solved in coming JB 4.3 update (I'm using the leak for a while and no longer such bug)

Basically it's not a software problem and I know it's very annoying... The problem is in the jack hole itself,
Don't ever try to do a factory reset because this won't fix that bug
You can either clean it "hardware fix" (hard method),
Or download this app on Google Play here #adfly /1d8wfk# {sorry, the site is preventing me from putting links} "software fix" (easy way but you may have to open the app every time it is terminated by a ram accelerator like clean master or something like that)
Hope this works for you
And plz tell me if my English is bad
I had spanish generic 569, and since they didn't update yet to 10.4.1.B.101 I decided to switch to a CE one that I found here:
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/33-sony-xperia-z-c6603
The issues are:
-When I call someone I can not hear anything unless I activate the loudspeaker. This is not always happening and seems to be temporally fixed after a reboot.
-If anyone calls me, the loudspeaker is activated automatically when I pick the call (some says this is due to Google Chrome update)
-The proximity sensor that turns off the screen while talking is misbehaving
Of course I have tried again wiping everything in the flashtool, but didn't help.
Solution? I went back to the safe spanish generic 10.4.B.0.569 which they didn't updated yet to 101, maybe because they found this serious bug? I find it weird that they didn't adopted it yet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/info-firmware-version-customization-t2315914
The bug has also been posted in other forums http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/10-1-1-b-0-101-update-problem/td-p/568927
Anyone else here can reproduce or solve it?
The loudspeaker activates randomly when I answer calls, but only from one specific contact. My earpiece works fine, however.
I'm on 10.4.B.0.569 Generic ES and I've found no solution to it. I just remember to deactivate the speaker phone when I answer calls from them.

I have done more research and yes, indeed it seems that google chrome is resposible of the auto loudspeaker mode and it can also happen in other firmwares or even phones.

NEVERTHELESS for me the issue of not being able to hear anything when you call if it is not in loudspeaker mode is a different issue that I can only reproduce in 101

Yes, that's why I posted that I have the same problem on 569 and there has already been a link posted saying it affects other devices.

so which browser you prefer instead chrome..?
What about the internal speaker mute when receiving a call? For me this is a different issue that I only have in 101, and it doesn't help disabling Chrome
I got the same problem on 101. I'm back to A.2.67 (4.2.2) and waiting for solution or for 4.4.
I I threw out chrome so I can't test it is issue. But I think some program make this because this problem start few days ago.
Uninstall updates from Chrome (back to stock version). It helped for me.
Chrome is becoming a bug fest, always strange things, man google is really screwing things up recently.

Same here.
And, now the phone can wake when I press power button, even I close the proximity sensors.
Before, the screen won't wake up when the proximity sensor closed. So, the phone not wake up randomly in pocket.

I experience a strange problem after updation of 4.3 in my xperia Z1, When i receive a new call, the call volume automatically decreases, I have to increase the volume every time to hear the person loud. After updating to 4.4, the problem still exists. Is it any option that can turn off this ? or any problem with mobile ?
Did anyone experience the same problem ?

This seems more like a software problem rather than a hardware problem. You could try to factory reset your device (make sure to backup the things you don't want to lose) to see if that works. I don't seem to have this problem on 4.4, I could be mistaken though, but I don't call all that often so I haven't really noticed it.

Hi,
I've got my Xperia z1 c6903 for around 2.5 year and it is understandable that some commitments can be (half)broken like my 3.5 jack port...
What is wrong with it?
No matter what ROM I'm using stock custom or cm based, I have randomly activated some headset controls:
Google now launches,
Volume is going up or down,
Music is paused....
And all of that is happening even if I don't have headset with control buttons or microphone!
I'm wondering if there is any way to to completely disable headset controls somewhere in buildprop or deeper in system or by Xposed module or via some magic app....
Could someone help? It might help other users too
Thanks in advance

looks like its another problem people are facing
look here http://bit.ly/2k9T85D
Try
Setting>apps>all>smart connect clear data and Cache then force stop and reboot your phone
You can also make a backup in recovery and flash headphone fix if the above solution didn't work.

Good afternoon,
I have had a Nokia 8 for a few weeks now and have now found that my microphone only works during calls. While I'm on the phone everything works normally but in all other apps nothing happens, e.g. in Whatsapp you only hear a short crack when you hear a voice message and then nothing, although you have said something (see attachment), also other apps that use the microphone like the Google Home App or a guitar vocal app don't work. Of course the permissions are set correctly for all apps but apparently this has no effect (see attachment). I've already written with Nokia Support, but after 14 mails about permissions, emptying caches and doing softresets they couldn't help me. Finally I was told to wait for the next Android update and hope that my problem was fixed there, or I should send my phone back to the dealer. My hope now is that one of you has an idea what could be the cause of the problem.
Thank you for your time!

Hello to everyone there,
I have next problem on my Nokia 8:
When somebody calls me or when I call someone on viber, I turn on speakers and other side can't hear me. Also when I put it on video call the same issue conitnuous to take. Regular GSM calls or viber VoIp calls works great as well as video calls with headphones.
I open ticket to a viber about this problem, and they told me I need to contact my manufacturer.
Yesterday I installed an Android pie from beta labs, but the problem still exists. How do you think the problem is hardware?

Hi ratola,
you can dial *#*#372733#*#* for a hidden FQC test menu, here you can test each mic seperated, i guess in your case it's the second mic in the top-speaker.

Hi Joeigel, unfortunately I have the same issue (and story regarding contacting support). The only way I can make calls via for instance WhatsApp is by using a handfree headset, or setting it to speaker-mode.
Waiting for the Android 9 release, if this isn't fixed with it, I'll send it in for warranty.
I do have another issue with the phone, and that's when I unlock my phone using the fingerprint scanner, 1 out of 4 times or so, the phone enables split screenmode. Do you (or someone else here) have similar experiences. It's quite annoying.
Update: Installed Pie, and no improvement. Issues still persists. Returning the phone today.
Sorry for the late response, my phone is also on it's way back to GB...

Ok, just got an update from the repair-center, they replaced a part and it should work OK now. Curious to see what they did and if it's resolved. Have to wait until it's shipped back. But keep us also posted about your progress
Off-topic: another issue I sometimes experience is when I unlock my phone with fingerprint, it sometimes switches automatically to the split-screen mode. It happens quite often and it's a bit annoying. Did you experience something similar with your Nokia?

I didn't experienced something like this. Did they send it back to you yet? Maybe they fixed both... ^^'
Microphone issue here too.
Internal mic on front facing camera is the culprit. I noticed a few weeks back that my 'ok google' hotwords were no longer working. This became a problem after I installed the december security patch. I rolled back to the november security patch and this did temporarily fix the issue, after I had gone through the initial setup of the phone, my 'ok google' hotwords worked, until i went to use the camera to see if the issue still existed... unfortunately it does. Contemplating rolling back to july to see if the issue is resolved, or trying to move forward and installing pie.

I've tried going up or down, I have oreo and pie on each of my A/B partitions and it does nothing. When i downgraded to oreo it worked for awhile but updating the google app or some sort of background service broke it again. Its definately mic 3 that has a fault, it has background interference noise when i do the test, it also occurs when recording video with the front facing mic on camera, the problem with the mic never goes away, after up/downgrading, I can't say whether this is related since it works prior to updating. rolling back/disabling doesn't solve the problem for the apps. Microphone/earpiece holes are clean and undamaged.

After further testing of this issue, the 'OK Google' issue is still present, if I want to ask google assistant 'ok google' the microphone barely picks up anything or even my question, practically screaming into the microphone is the only way to activate it, this matches with the results on my google activity, listening to my recordings of my queries shows evidence that the microphone sensitivity is way too low.
HOWEVER, when using google assistant by means of pressing the microphone and then asking the question, the result is clear and understandable and doesn't suffer from volume issues, I can't pinpoint if this is an issue with the Nokia specifically, it is not a problem with any other application that uses the microphone.
Having the same issue with Mic 3. It means I can't use it in speakerphone mode during calls or in Skype. It doesn't prevent me from using the Google assistant though.
My smartphone was sent in and repaired (complete motorboard replaced). During the time it was gone Android 9 came out, so I'm not sure if it was the repair or the software update.
But it works again without any problems
Kind regards
Joeigel
