Tablet UI? - Motorola Atrix HD

I can't seem to find this, is there any other way besides PA and the Xposed TabletUI to enable tablet ui? PA seems to be very laggy for me no matter what I try, and the TabletUI for Xposed causes a bootloop if I enable a pattern lock, anyone know of any other way?
P.S. by "Tablet UI" I'm mainly speaking of the bottom bar being the only bar.

PACMan has it.
Any specific reason for wanting tablet ui?

He wants to get rid of the notification bar and combine it with the navigation bar at the bottom.

I was curious if it was for screen real estate, that combined bar is handy for that. I suggested PAC cause it does do that.
Myself, I save real estate with phablet ui, 250dpi no navigation bar, google now ring disabled, PIE as nav bar.
That reminds me

Yea I've tried flashing pacman, but I have loads of lag with it, like, seriously lagging, it's not smooth at all for me like if something is wrong, I tried flashing the one for the 925 from the razr section, that one worked great but got more unstable the longer it was running, even after down-clocking it.
As far as the tablet UI, I just really enjoy having the notification bar on the bottom as my carpal tunnel causes me pain swiping notifications down lol.
Btw Skeevy, even though I have not been able to post in the dev section, you are an amazing dev, keep up the great work on the roms!

I'm uploading a new version to goo.im right now. Haven't been running it long, under 30 minutes, but PowerAmp didn't crash once while searching for songs -- something I haven't been able to do on ANY native 4.2 rom yet, my wifi connected instantly and hasn't dropped yet, but it does scroll a bit choppy; though I was and have been installing a ton of crap and seriously multi-tasking cause I'm trying to get it all set up before bed.

[ROM][22/07]- Wild Ginger – Gingerbread 2.3.4 AOSP – [DISCONTINUED]

This ROM is DISCONTINUED
I am sorry to say I don't find the time to further develop this ROM, if anyone wants to continue this ROM please do so. Just pm me and it's fine. Thanks for using this ROM and for your feedback. Maybe in the future I will begin a new ROM project. For now I am only developping a ROM Download Manager for the desktop, keep an eye on the portal .
Go check it out for screenshots and download :
http://h4oxer.wordpress.com/category/wild-ginger/
i`ll give a chance this evening ... looks nice
I have been using this ROM for the last hour or so. I did a backup, clean wipe and fresh flash. I have let the new ROM settle and have done a manual reeboot also.
I am a humble end-user and not a dev but thought that I would give a breakdown of some of my first impressions and observations.
I like the boot annimation alot, I also like the lock screen. Both look clean.
I like the orange font used in the status bar and the pull down menu although the "Wild Ginger" wording in the drop down menu is very blury and looks ugly.
The window transistions are smooth as you like but don't feel snappy quick.
I think the new honeycomb launcher is a nice touch but doesn't seem as intuative as the regular launchers such as ADW; maybe it's because I'm not used to honeycomb yet.
My main gripe about the Honeycomb launcher is that it force closes ALL the time. I have been trying to remove the Google search bar widget that is pre-loaded on screen after first boot and it is impossible (and the widgets aren't even locked to desktop). Also I can't ADD any additional widgets - you can select a widget to add but nothing happens!
From the main screen, waiting for the menu to appear takes about 5seconds which is an age. The "Personalise Honeycomb" menu doesn't fit the whole screen and you can see thick band of the desktop down the right of the screen which is ugly.Once in the preferences menu it isn't at all clear what you are meant to do... You can see the "Apply Settings" button but it took me tapping about the rest of the screen to finally make the actual preferance choices appear.
I have tested inbound and outbound calls and wifi both work as standard. The music player has nice interface, camera works and stock browser is fine. I don't like the dark blue highlight that appears when you press on an app icon it looks clumsy.
The numbers 1,2 and 3 are almost cut in half in the dialer and the green phone "call" icon doesn't seem to fit in it's area neatly.
I like H4oxer's work on this ROM and I hope it continues to get better but with these quite apparent bugs I will respectfully wait for an update before I continue to use this ROM.
Good Work tho!
so ...
good review above .... absolutelly uselless to say more ... 100% same opinions as you EDD ! keep going h4oxer !!!

You'll have to wait 5-10 minutes... leave it for 10 minutes on first boot..
why I cant see any progres in progres bar in recovery, says instaling update ...
(now no progres of writing files) and afther just 10-15 sec instal complete,is this normal? usualy can see progres and takes a bit longer
Yes it's normal, I didn't payed attention at the progressbar while writing the updater file , but it works don't worry. It installs fast because it had not much apps on board. Just the essential.

OK....first impressions are good. Startup in less than 4 minutes. Looking good. Everything is working out of the box, no force closing or similar problems. Nice themes, Market app is interesting
LCD density set to 115 and dialpad and everything else looks good
need to be done
- icons in status bar - phone signal at least
- trackpad wakeup
- sound on lock/unlock
- 6x5 icons is too much... 4x5 would be better in my opinion
- Home screen - same as above
- when LCD density changed no way to add widgets or apps to home screen
all in all very good rom, but need a little bit of fixing

Samsung Galaxy S5 - Omega Droid vs Cyanogenmod Camera and Calendar app

Hello everyone
I want to flash a new, fast and nice performance ROM on my Galaxy S5, but i want to keep the stock camera and calendar app.
As far as i know, if i install a new ROM it will delete and replace the stock camera and calendar, so my question is, which ROM Omega or Cyanogen let me do that .
Thank you very much for your help

Omega will let you keep the stock camera. Not sure about the Calendar.
You lose both in CyanogenMOD for sure.

Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about the stock ROM? The performance is on par with any of the alternat ROMs out there, so why risk borking your phone or losing apps that you want to keep?
Just get a different launcher to modify the look and feel of the phone to your tastes.

you're mostly correct but there's one thing that it's very different between TW ROMs (that I've tried) and AOSP ROMs (like CM or Carbon) - the notification and quick settings panels; i'm not sure how much these can be customized on TW ROMs and how easy it is to do so but in their default implementation I find CM's notificaiton and quick setting panels vastly superior to those of TW's

In what way? Been awhile since I used an AOSP ROM...
I mean, the notification panel is such a trivial thing most of the time. Shows battery, clock and basic alerts... To me, it isn't worth the risk of messing up a good phone, or introducing instability or missing features, just to tweak the battery alert or whatever...
I was all into ROMs on older phones like the DroidX, Thunderbolt and some others... because the stock roms were crap. Issues, random reboots, horrible lag, etc... The ROMs got the phones to work properly, they way they were meant to.
But on my LG G2 and now this GS5, I just don't see the need. There is no lag, everything works beautifully, and when I research the ROMs, there is always some bug, some missing feature, something that just doesn't work right... So I don't see any point in switching, when you have 20 launchers to choose from that can make your phone look and feel any way that you want, with no risk and with not having to give anything up...
Each generation of phone and release of Android, makes ROMs more and more obsolete, IMHO... I think that 90% of the people that use them today, do it either out of habit, or just because they want to show off to their nerdy friends.
Nice work!
Well, you are so right, I will keep my stock ROM with the apps I want. But, now I have other question, my GS5 is on ATT and I want to remove the bloatware apps that I don't use, do you know where can I find the complete list for this carrier. Thanks for your time.

What I meant by the notification panel was not just the bar across the top of the screen with a bunch of icons but also the pulled down notification menu as well as the quick settings panel. On TW half of the screen's real estate of the notification menu is taken by a row of toggle icons (which are duplicated on the quick settings screen), two buttons that launch apps that I never used (S Finder and Quick Connect, I don't even know what these apps actually do) and a brightness slider (which in fairness can be disabled, if I recall correctly.)
Then you get to the quick settings panel on which there's also not that many shortcuts that I would use (most of which are for the extra features of TW which I also have no interest in) and there's quite a few that I'd love to see there but they're not available. On CM, on the other hand, the notification menu is clean and simple; it's not bl(essed|oated) with some additional buttons which you may or may not use. The quick settings screen is also much more customizable than that of TW's which only allows for rearanging of toggle icons. On CM you can add, remove and freely arrange all icons on the quick settings screen. And yes, you can add that row of icons to the notification screen and get rid of quick settings altogether, if so you desire.
Some toggles that are available on CM but not on TW are screen time out, lock screen disable/enable or torch. Personally I happen to be using these numerous times throughout the day so while it is only a minor inconvenience to go to the settings and change something manually it adds up quickly if you have to do that often.
To summarize my little rant - the notifications menu and quick settings panel section of the system's interface is used quite often by me (and I'd say others as well) and I simply find inadequate what TW has to offer here. The rest of the TW is either virtually the same as any other version Android or can be easily "fixed", example of which was mentioned by yourself (the launcher).
Now, I agree with you that it may not be worth it for some people to "risk" using a custom AOSP ROM but it can't be denied that by definition such ROMs offer a much greater flexibility and allow one to use their phone exactly how they want (to a greater degree than can be said about TW). Differences can ofcourse be described as "minor" but whether they're significant is for everyone to decide on their own. After all, if there was no need for custom ROMs (whether it's just showing off to nerdy friends or some other reason) people wouldn't create them...

Have a look in this forum. There's a good few "debloated" ROMs over there, and a list of what's removed is sometimes included. As for what to remove the apps with, I would personally recommend Titanium Backup.

I got one yesterday and love it. Easy to unlock the bootloader and rooting. Using wufresh toolkit is foolproof. Now to decided if I should make a ROM or just use what's out there which is plenty. No regrets at all. And this device always getting updates. Good luck.

Its a super phone! Once you get hooked to the display, you won't like any thing smaller. Fluid as water, looks gorgeous, gets latest from Google, i already have 6.0.1 running on it! Numerous custom roms, best of community support!

I got one from Amazon's black friday deal. Had an HTC one m9 beforry but the N6 serves my purposes better.
Yea it's a little large and needs some time to get use to the size, but it's a great phone. Very smooth and no lag at all. You won't be disappointed.
It's a solid device. If you open up a lot of apps, it's better than any phone I've used at keeping them in system memory.
The camera isn't good without ideal light, and the vibration motor is the worst since my Moto Cliq. But you can root away one, the other not so much
i love mine, its fast, its big..handy if your eyes are getting a bit older. Easy to root, unlock. Now if i only knew how to make roms i would be very happy.

Well, with a lot of patience, I can assure you
For starters, build a basic AOSP rom, then take your time to map out how what works, and take baby steps.
So far the only thing I've changed was:
- Dismiss all button for recents
- Fix menu button on the navigation bar, now it has four buttons equally distributed
- UI tuner is always on, and can't be turned off (but I left the spinning gear in, it's cool)
- Settings displays my version
- You can access the Clock app tapping any time or date field on the status bar, and not just the next alarm
- And more fixes, like making Battery saving location not soft rebooting on AOSP
- And the most significant change that the white "android" boot animation (the one you see if sou don't have a botanimation.zip) is replaced by a cyan colored "cyosp" one (you can see in my signature)

Thanks for your answer
I'm also thinking of purchasing this phone very soon. Few questions as well:
The phone is already a year old. Is this phone good if I'm thinking of using it for at least 18mo?
That display/brightness...I've heard its really dim (270 nits, really?), and damn near unreadable outdoors. Just overexhaggerating here on reviewers' part? As a reference, I'm coming from an LG G3.
Thanks!

New update messed up all sorts of little things.. ??

I got the 8.0.0 update (Jan 1 security patch)
With this update there are some small UI changes are driving me nuts. Some notable ones:
-I have to swipe up/down to answer/reject a phone call (previously was right/left)
-Grid for the pull down configuration menu is now 2x3, used to be 3x3
-Ring/Media volume bars switched places
-The number pad on the dialer covers the whole screen, hiding the mute and speaker buttons
Does anyone know- is there a motorolla skin on this I can uninstall that will revert this changes? I haven't found anything. it's so annoying.
You are correct, UI under nougat was better
It didn't "mess up" anything...it's all UI changes. If it's absolutely unusable, there are many guides here to flash the older firmware onto this device. Or there is always alternative apps for the dialer that I'm sure you can use in place of the stock one.

I've seen some oreo pics that reflect a UI that is different from what I see on my x4. for example, the drop down configuration menu is still 3x3 https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/...ttings-android-8.0-oreo-review-5-1340x754.jpg
So I'm thinking motorolla has something installed which is causing these oddities. And if there is, I'm trying to figure out how to remove it. Or maybe there is a config somewhere I just haven't found yet.

does it still have font size and display size customization?
Why did it messed up? I've only found a bit disorientating the new settings menu. Other than that everything looks fine to me. Also the toggles grid is still 3x3 on mine but I thing is due to the fact that I have the UI and text scaling on the lowest setting. Try making the UI as small as possible and make the text bigger just a notch. I think you'll get back the 3x3 quick toggles grid. I'm on the Moto edition, not the Project Fi or Amazon edition.

Well, I didn't see a thread here related to Beta-1 being available and unless everyone on XDA also reads the OnePlus community forums, it's probable there are people out there who don't know Beta-1 has been released. I also figured this could be a place to discuss bug findings and fixes/workarounds in a forum where, in my opinion, the technical skills of the average poster is higher and that we would see better problem reporting and solutions rather than posts on how to revert back or about when will Q stable be released.
Now, regarding your post, what was your point in posting your comment?

I was just curious. It makes more sense when you put it that way. I just figured @funkwizard is gonna make a post about it soon since he's usually the one that makes official posts about things related to OnePlus. There are already a few other bug posts about the beta so I just don't see a point in having multiple posts about the same thing cause then it just confusing and certain people like to ask the same thing on multiple threads instead of searching and then people have to answer the same questions people ask when they post the same thing all the time.

I get that when I try Nova or Lawnchair launchers, it will always revert back to the 3 buttons. I also got stuck while playing Fallout yesterday. I had the gestures turned on and could not get out of the game. Swipe up (home) or swipe up and hold (recent) wouldn't work. I was able to finally go back to the launcher by going nuts tapping randomly on the screen but that was as interesting bug... stuck in a game.
RSA still hasn't bothered updating their token app for Android Q, it still thinks my phone has no network connectivity (cell or WIFI)
Android 10 Encryption :/
Is there a workaround to acces the "/" partition when magisk won't work? Or acces an android q encrypted internal storage?

I had the gestures turned on and could not get out of the game. Swipe up (home) or swipe up and hold (recent) wouldn't work. I was able to finally go back to the launcher by going nuts tapping randomly on the screen but that was as interesting bug... stuck in a game.
RSA still hasn't bothered updating their token app for Android Q, it still thinks my phone has no network connectivity (cell or WIFI)

You can switch back to gestures after setting a new launcher but I'm not sure how stable that it, the OS might want to revert back a few minutes later.

Yeah that's what it was doing to me. But the network lock (no signal) was the killer

I believe this has something to do with how the phone handles other launchers. When you are in another app for some time and then go back to home screen, the launcher gets opened which resets the buttons.
Already reported to OnePlus. I think others have also reported this to OnePlus.
If you want to consistently reproduce this issue, Just change the default launcher to OnePlus launcher and back to Nova, you will see the navbars reset
Battery life seems much better than DP5 for me. It has only been 24 hours of course so it's not long enough but I lost 6% battery for 3 hours at work while on DP5 it was closer to 20% for 3 hours of light use.

Interestingly the gestures now rotate with the phone meaning to exit you must swipe on the horizontal edge.
Does anybody know why we don't get the dark mode? Pixel has it but why don't we? I don't mean the bad "forced" dark mode in developer options.

Use force dark ui in dev settings. Although I don't recommend because apps like Facebook and suck don't have dark mode and text will be unreadable

While I had override force dark on my ambient display became completely gray? I'm guessing it's just a system wide color inverter
Unfortunately the navbar will keep switching back on reboot/launcher change until OP fixes it. "Officially" the gesture navigation should only work with the stock launcher (since elements of the navigation are in the launcher itself), thus changing launchers will kill it (even though it is clear that the navigation works just fine without using the stock launcher). The reset is most likely caused by leftover code that checks if the launcher can provide the navigation gestures + recents, and if it can't, it disables the gestures (then proceeds to load recents + nav gestures from the fallback launcher, which is the stock one, but the reset still happens).
As for when the home gesture doesn't work. Try opening and closing the notification drawer, that usually fixes the nav gesture issues for me.
