I believe my camera has faulty sensors. It seems to have a purple tinge in darker areas. Compared it with my brother's One and indeed, color on mine looks weird as hell around the shadows and darker areas.
Left is my brother's , Right is mine.

So time to send it in to change a new camera module?
Are you rooted? Maybe you could try a different rom. I remember this happened when Chad (dev) was switching the rezound over to ion memory management.. Long story short the cameras had a purple tint which he said could be memory leak. So given that experience I think it could be software.
I talk to much lol. If it were my phone id exchange it.

Make sure you have not set a certain non auto white balance, and make sure you are not applying a filter to all photos (the camera app can apply filters before photos are taken, the button at the right bottom). If they all checked out, then it's probably faulty sensor.

Nope. Everything stock, non rooted. One is the only phone I got so far that makes me feel I should stay stock. Everything just flies on stock launcher.
I've restored factory settings and its still the same. Looks like I have to send my phone for repairs then:silly:

Looks like a faulty sensor to me, personally. And by the way, thanks for providing as much information as you can. Alot of the time folks come here asking for help/input and provide not even an iota of what you have. Very thorough, I'm highly impressed.

Below is a shot I took and posted a while back that I have increase the brightness to show the diff in picture quality I have been experiencing since the 2.2 update. The Orangish one is pre froyo and the blue one is after froyo. I can tell this by looking at the date one, and the file name format two.. For some reason google changed from date and time format (2010-05-03 22.36.05.JPG) and switched to a more stupid one (IMG_20100606_215314.JPG) Sure the info is the same just more stupid to look at. Anyways here are the pics.

Anyone else experience this and can this be fixed?
Also I am unrooted and stock, but I have been thinking of rooting.
Thank you in advance!!
do you have negative on?
Nope this is the pic in normal mode but I have increased its brightness so I can show how bad it is. When its dark and I turn the camera on I can see the same lines in the blue pic moving around and when I snap a pic they are there.. They also replicate the color that is the brightest in the pic. I never had these issues before 2.2. I dont think it is a interference problem as it does not change and when it does it changes only to the color of light.
Daytime I cant see it. It almost appears this things ISO is SUPER high... But not sure. I have played with all settings and it only happens in the normal setting.. If I change to mono.. Black and white... IT all goes away.. Same with other modes.. Its clear as a whistle... Just in normal color pic mode do I get these in low light scenarios.

I think its a problem with your camera, even before froyo my pictures at night wasnt that grainy. Total speculations though of course
yeah it must be your phone because my night pictures come out looking much better than that like 10x better
I sent a support request in to HTC with the picture to see what they have to say.. if it is my cam I would like a replacement. I will post with a response if I get one. Ty posters!

I have taken low light pictures that have the same grain and lines,I'm very disappointed with low light picture quality.
Edit: no froyo here, its a desire of course but they are the same same.

ive noticed this too as of lately
were you possibly zoomed in on the second pic?
I wish it was that simple. I don't use the zoom as it does not work well on any photos I have taken.
Also I contacted HTC and they told me to contact Google. :/

I know this is an old post but I also get lines in my images since upgrading to 2.2.
Both of these images were taken inside the exact same light box which is white. I've cut out a strip from each image to show what's happening.
2.2 Image
2.1 Image
Notice the banding in the 2.2 image and the overall blue cast? At least with 2.1 I could adjust the images in Photoshop to give them proper whites and color. With 2.2, it's impossible to do anything with the photos to make them look better due to the crazy banding.
Here is mine, except I'm on the latest nightly of CM6. this is resized with paint.net from 2592x1952 to 800x602
So, is that how it's supposed to look or? Was that a pic of something white?

I also wanted to note that the banding is visible on the screen before the camera even takes the pic. So the images are true captures of what the camera is seeing.

yes, i was trying to reproduce the banding of something white, like your images using cm6 which is based on 2.2
just did some "testing" and i was not able to reproduce that banding.... a no light and a light picture is posted below
Did anyone ever think about installing/making this possible? Like with a spare Evo front camera or something? Just a thought. I'm not even sure if it's possible. But if it was I would be interested.
LOL: it would be impossible since no hardware support for front cam, the sensor on top left is a photo sensor which is used for Brightness adjustment and proximity measurement
I have 2 phone's with front cam and i think i have used them twice.
When do you need a front cam ?
Do you video call with your girlfriend.
No. i do not use it, and i do not miss it on the HTC HD2
I know about the proximity sensor and stuff. And I do video chat. And couldn't someone make software to run it. It would be interesting. Maybe put it on the right side...
No need for the hostility either. Just a thought.
maybe someone will mod a USB laptop camera and gorilla glue it to the front?

I'm gonna install a Core i7 into mine - it's time for the upgradings
(upgrade spelled wrong intentionally)
I think it's impossible. Use mirror.
i do not miss a front camera at all
now that skype supports video call. Front camera on skype would be a dream for me on hd2
it would be nice, but most likely impossible
So where are you going to solder that camera to if you manage to drill the plastic part of the center frame? I don't see any room on the motherboard...
in fact there has a most simple (and cheapest ) way to get a "front cam function" with your HD2, all you need to do is to find a small vanity mirror like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
or this:
then open it in 90° angle and put this mirror behind of your hd2, in front of camera. now you can launch your camera app and adjust the mirror to the best position to show your face in app.
Done!
it's so easy! isn't it? the only bug is your face is inverse in app (if you are graduated from school you should know why), but who care! video talk is just for fun for most people! so you want it, you get it!
PS: you still need use a app which support not just front cam but also main cam, to do this. it's the only limitation my dud.

The whole idea is for sale for manufacturing. If this happens I'm gonna get my hands on one of these.
Very good invention. But i rather buy something it had built in, no fall out and all way there when i need it.
Reminiscent of the HTC one it seems that my unit has a blue bleed onto the sensor from the backside illumination. Look up the m7 low light issues. They get worse over time so I'm thinking what will happen is it starts out very mild as it is now and gets significantly worse as time progresses. Here is an example.
You really have to look for it to see it. Crank up brightness and such. When taking low light photos the outer parts must be dark. But really this bs from a flagship. I'll be returning this phone. LG g3 here I come no more bs knox!

I don't care for black photos. You completely missed the point. If it's anything like how the HTC one m7 sensors were it starts out so small

Then clearly progresses into a full blown bad sensor. Looks like you completely missed my point of find it now, see if it's a widespread issue like the m7, track it to see if it gets worse, and fix it under warranry or replace if it's within return period like me. Above was my wife's htc one she never sent in(otterbox) next to an htc one we sent in and got back with a good sensor.
So it only gets worse... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595534 and the main reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507
Again I only made this thread because this is exactly how my wife's m7 started before it turned horrid. I played xcom on my phone which made it pretty hot for extended periods and ad the first thread states apparently gets worse with heat.

I was thinking the same thing
I made a test taking a picture with the lights off and the phone agains my bed.
ISO 100 --> a very nice black photo
Auto ISO (a very high ISO, i can't remember the value, but it's extremely high) --> you can see at the center of the photo a perfect black, but in the corners you can see some purple tint. It looks like noise, but it's a strange behavior that just the corners are affected.
why is it assumed that since you have the faulty sensor thats just how the S5 was made. maybe you have a faulty device and it needs excahnged. try a second device and see how it is. if its similar thgen this maybe an issue. but one thing from one device isnt "bs from a flagship device"
It gets worse if you enable picture stabilization. Mine has quite a bit in low light, but as FarKeld noted, it all goes away at low iso settings.
with picture stabilization ISO goes up to 2000
btw: I'm getting an annoying error "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" every time I try to see my photos

I Just realized how apparent it is in low light video. I guess it was iso noise or no picture at all.
Hi guys...
i have a problem with camera,
when i try to snap photos with white back ground, am able to see moving black and white lines.
the same lines are observed on photos also.
the service centre people have replaced my mother board, but still same problem :crying:
Again my friend adviced, it can be due to some light effects, but taking a snap at same place with other mobile is fine
please advice me guys if anyone have faced this problem.. :highfive:

Depends on the lighting so not much can be done.
I've had the problem with my X once. It was in Hershey Park Arena (the old one) in one of the halls, taking a picture of a logo on a wall.
I've never seen it since. So it may be related to specific lighting conditions.
What happens at home, under low non-florescent lights?

Under non fluorscent lights, it is fine.
why i am worried is, i am using this phone from 5 months, and recently this change is observed and
at the same place , with the same model (moto x) doesnt show this lines/this behaviour.
so i thought this is problem my handset itslef.

from what you are describing it sounds like the issue only arises in just the right conditions. that means your camera hardware is probably fine and the problem can be seen as software related. Moto X camera software doesn't give you much in the way of settings to mess around with, so you should try third party apps that do have more settings. Maybe a more photography enthusiastic user can chime in here, but I'd think trying an app that has settings for different lighting conditions, stuff like white balance, etc might help.
I use stock camera myself, and not that much at that, but I do notice you can get completely different exposure of the same scene in the same lighting if you change something like the manual focus or the angle of your shot.
I have a Moto X and was facing a similar problem. Using a third-party camera app named CameraMx solved it for me! I dont know why or how but it worked for me! That app seems to correct those black and white lines in some way! Hope it works for u too!

So recently got my replacement of note 5 due to screen issue.
This unit is perfect the only problem is my FFC is off centerd towards bottom left.
Its not blocking picture or anything.
Just getting ocd.

My S3 had a similar problem, but for the back camera. They fixed it in half hour. That's why I suggested taking it repair center.
Oh ya! Rear is actually easier to fix.. For front they will need to replace the screen or. The whole unit. Thats why debaiting.

It probably won't make difference unless your phone is pointing at an extreme angle to the sun to cause adverse vignette shading. I liken it to that micro scratch on the screen you never noticed until that one day when the sun hit it just right. Now you can't take your eyes off it...LOL!
Well, if it's a $50 phone I wouldn't care but for me it's a $1000+ phone so yeah they can fix/replace it until I get what I paid for....a premium phone.
