If I rooted the xperia z, what access will I lose (drm). Track Id, and BE 2 .
And what more?
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
I think if you just root the device the only thing you might lose is the functionality of NFC, but there is a simple after fix to restore it.
It's when you unlock the bootloader you lose the DRM Keys; Bravia Engine, Track ID etc.. oh and Waterproofing

unlocking bootloader will lose the phone's waterproofing properties?
I'm 100% sure you do not know what you're talking about.
being waterproof depends on the hardware, not the software. If you still can't understand, try googling it yourself

Excellent find. Thanks.
Was interested in how they actually did connect the battery, if they were just imitating Apple on the outside and put a regular battery in, with regular connectors but sealed the back cover. I see they didnt. Which is something good in something fundamentally bad
yep it's easy to open the back of phone but i was septic for revert the battery . but if it's possible maybe we have a chance to unlock the bootloader with testpoint technic

There is one screw under the sim/mem card slot. Take that out. you can then use something thin to separate the back cover from the rest of the phone.
Its a bit stiff but it will come off.
I have had my cover off.
BUT be careful around the usb port as the plastic there is thin and can and will snap if your not gentle with it around that area.

Does anybody know where the test point on the t is?
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a test point?
Not to worry, we're all learners here! The test point, as far as I am concerned/aware, is a way of unlocking the bootloader through a more physical process than just flashing something. I'm not sure how it works, nor what the "official" use of it is but it's been mentioned several times in other Xperia device forums so I'm looking into them at the moment for a way to unlock my bootloader with rooting status: no.

Yeah, the test point unlock, remember that from my good ol' days with my Xperia Neo V. I'm not sure what its actual use was in terms of its official design, but it was shorted out in the process and allowed for the unlocking without having to go through the official Sony unlocking process, pretty much allowing for you to relock it and still retain warranty, DRM wasn't wiped, etc. But if you accidentally used the wrong point, the phone bricked. ^^"

The battery can't be removed so without taking it apart no unfortunately

Yes it does have a test point that can be accessed without the need for removing the back cover, but the test point method of unlocking the boot loader has been closed by Sony so it does not matter any way

I reckon that unlocking the bootloader will work either through a security exploit that one of the crazy good devs like adam outler, binary, or their kind will find, or someone stumbles across
The right way with the TA. Just my bit to add.

When Sony uses EMMA with their Identification, Do they do everything in Flash mode or test point? Lets say Sony was labeling new phones as unlocked or locked would they use the test point or would they just put a generic .TA file on the phone using flashmode
thanks

I don't know.
But the person who told me about the test point will know and would have made a breakthrough by now. He has told me its a dead end now, Sony have closed that exploit and a new one needs to be found
Well the xperia TL has test point and you dont have to unplug the battery for it( i removed battery plug to better show the connections, but the thing is that idk which of those is the test point? and if it needs a ground?

i would've thought it would be added to Sony Select camera apps rather than in a new firmware.
why make a separate camera add-on store and then not use it.
only guessing
personally id rather they made some good video camera apps. already alot of decent photo apps on the playstore but barely any good video camera apps.
During the CES live stream they said that background defocus was a Z1s exclusive.
But @niaboc79 has confirmed he'll port that apps once we get Z1x dump files.
And if we know and we know that he's developing for Z family of Xperias (we'll get his eXistenZ ROM) - we will get all of that and I'm sure many more aps and features from new devices...

Of course we get all this... c'mon patience guys. The Z1s is not even on the market, they sell it from the 22nd on (update: looks like some shippings are done).
We will have KitKat, a better Camera App and a whole bunch of updates and so on and on and on. Time by time.
Meanwhile why you just don't enjoy this awesome phone?

Where ??please
I am starting to regret my decision to upgrade to KitKat 4.4.2
My Z1 C6906 was almost flawless but now there are major issues:
BATTERY DRAIN- The phone is running down at a much faster rate then before the upgrade.
CAMERA FREEZE- The camera takes longer to startup and often locks up right after initializing. This is random but very annoying.
There are also various minor issues but I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix the two major ones first.
We know that, we love that, we know that, we love that. ..lol..
No fix for that...
We all know Sony is using different parts in their phones (lcd, memory chip's and obviously many more parts) and "half" of devices are working great on 757 (like mine) and "half" of them are working...well not so great on same firmware...
Sony is preparing new update but I really doubt they could fix something like that...
I mean...if you have lousy screen or digitizer that's something software can't fix - it could make ut a bit better but it'll never fix it to work without problems...
I'm reading all that threads where guys like you posting all their problems and I could be very happy with my luck...
I have had three Xperia devices and all were extremely good...
I would never buy anything except Sony...
I'm buying phones only from t-mobile (if I want locked bootloader) or in Tele2 if I need unlocked.
Never online (clove, ebay...) and never used...

Nope, I'm on NUT ROM 757, deodexed and rooted.
I keep brightness up to 70% ( between 60-70% when I'm out) when I'm out (I have to, can't see the screen otherwise) and on 20-30% at night and I'm always getting between 25-30 hours of battery life plus 5.5-7h of screen time...

Floatify is ten times better.
You can't configure almost nothing here in peek...
Only thing that peek has and floatify don't is sensors reading and I don't need that (that will drain your battery very fast)
