I should probably say I've never tried to do a rom 1st. This might be dumb to say but I didn't think you could. But even if you could its a lot easier to do from a customer recover. Once you have the custom recover MAKE A BACKUP! Backups are your friend.

Because this is the only device that ever was made that is so perfect it needs no Rom to be perfect. and lg also made specially so that you have something to complain about because otherwise life wouldn't be perfect.

Dev threads weren't made for questions as basic as this one! I once hated the restriction as well but now I know that it is good that it exists (Otherwise I would have posted crap there, too ).

your phone can't work without a recovery.
you can look for the stock recovery extracted and ready for flashing

I'm assuming you're asking how to root your phone. Assuming you've unlocked the bootloader at htcdev.com and have flashed a different recovery such as TWRP or CWM, then all that you would need to do is go to this link download.chainfire.eu/339/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.41.zip and download the update-supersu.zip and install it in you're recovery and you'll have insta root. Hopefully, that helps you man.

Did you flash the MLG AP, and BL?
You will also need to flash the CP for the modem.

You have to flash them I ODIN btw.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I followed the directions exactly made sure the odin window looked like the picture said it should look. I honestly think that i added the rom file in safe strap and was reading and working at the same time and i forgot to flash the actual rom i kept hitting back to get to download and didnt execute the flash but im not sure cause everthing else i know i did it corectly cause i checked it 3 times . Guess thats why it said go slow and take your time.

While that is possible, there are also other reasons for failure.
We're you trying to flash in stock slot or a different slot. Always flash in stock slot with KitKat ROMs

Basically.. If you forgot to flash the ROM... One of 2 things would happen, exactly what you are saying or it would boot the stock ROM.

Restore back to mj5 and try again, is what I would do.

How do i restore it back ? I have the factory romm backup on my sd card . I dont know how and where to start.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
There is a restore to MJ5 tutorial in the general section.
If you want to restore your backup, you will need to use Odin to flash the MJ5 AP and BL and then use SS to restore. After that you should be good to go and try again.

It is right on the first page of the general section. Even a google search puts it as the first entry in the search results.
You are not searching everywhere.

Worked for me to go to a different rom, also. Coming from Knoxraid 5.1 with SS. I took out my sd card, did a factory reset on stock rom slot. Flashed Alliance rom, it finished but failed due to E: unable to mount /systemorig'. Put my sd card back in, booted to download mode in SS, Flashed the MJ5 AP and BL in odin. Left auto reboot on and it passed and rebooted straight into my Alliance rom. Lost all my personal data but if your looking at bricked phone you don't care.
