Hi,
Right... um where do i start.
Won a HTC one from work. I work for Orange/EE UK and HTC was faulty. Basically major chunks of corrupted code in the stock ROM.
So i rooted it pulled the whole thing apart (software speaking) fully cleaned out the phone and started from scratch with Android HD Revolution.
Noticed the other day 4.3 was now available so i flashed new rom but it was bugging my phone out so did a full wipe and went to re-install 4.2.2 and the thing got stuck in bootloop wouldnt even get past the boot loader.
So i formatted the whole thing and started from scratch but now my twrp wont respond. touchscreen will not work. Also flashed cmw to find that the internal sdcard will not mount and is not writing any info to it even when i adb push files to it there just not actually writing to the memory.
The last creepy thing. HBOOT has blank OS tried a getvar version-main command and its blank.
Am i right in thinking that this thing is basically broke beyond repair now or is there anything ive missed. BTW im on hboot 1.54 so no s-off and my CID is ORG001 so doesnt look like theres any RUU files either.
Help would be muchos appreciated.
Thanks
Kris
1.54 s-off
you are in luck, the " fone fun shop" have just managed to achieve s-off on 1.54 boot loader.give them a call and they will sort it for you.

Are they uk or us based? And is this the java card method?
The good thing about being s-on is that it's virtually impossible to brick your phone just flashing stuff.
It sounds like you may have corrupted your sdcard partition and more. Reformat using your PC, then reflash twrp, and try adb pushing the rom again. It should just be a matter of getting the storage partition properly restored and the right software onto the phone.
Please reply

Yeah fast boot is working but when I m trying to use the rumrunner to s-off it stops after 8 pouring messages and nothing happens now am on ATT Dev version 3.22.1540.1 , but bootloader shows a Blank , and hboot is 1.54 , can you please suggest me , what can I do from here on, can I use revone, to s-off? or flash something else to make this thing work,
Thanks for your Time.
Can you get into recovery? If not flash twrp. You'll need an unlocked bootloader to flash a custom recovery.

Yes I can boot into recovery, I installed CWM. My bootloader is unlocked too..
all I am trying to do is get back to stock rom of a device with cid : htc__001 and get s-off from there to go back to my stock att.
I changed my sid to GOOGl001 to install GE and then changed the rom and cid,and S-oned it, Trying to get to some rom where I can get S-off from rumrunner.
Any help would be great,
Thanks for your time..
I appreciate your help

Flash a custom Rom with a stock kernel. I s-off'd with Android Revolution 30. Just make sure your firmware version (mainver) matches up with the rumrunner version you downloaded.

Pretty sure that technique of "downgrading" firmware version is only meant to enable the use of RUU to restore to stock. Use the program to write back your the version your firmware actually matches, then try reflashing.
I know Orange does not have an RUU but you might want to try using this nandroid backup

Hey boss,
Well misctool only writes a variable that RUU's read from to verify your not downgrading it doesnt actually write firmware.
Plus flashing a rom will not flash firmware either.
I dont know whether your having the same problem as me but my issues came from a dirty flash which softbricked my phone. Because of this i formatted the SDcard erasimg a partition the the OSver is wrote to.
The firmware is still there just no visible because of the erase. Im currently in the process of downloading every single rumrunner firmware and flashing them till i get one to work.
Kris
ANy fix yet?
I'm having the exact same problem. Bootloader shows OS- 'Blank space'
Tried different sprint Ruu's but always gets Error 155 because of No os i guess.

it has nothing to do with the no - OS ... you just need to flash the firmware then the RUU
And your s-off no need to relock the bootloader like that

Error 155 means image error, your using the wrong RUU, as your s-off, you can flash any Sprint RUU you just need firmware first.
Missing OS number in the bootloader is a common problem due to flashing a custom recovery, its not a problem and doesn't effect the phone in anyway.
Hello all, i am having trouble getting my Sprint HTC One back to stock. I have tried the RUU from the Dev pages but it keeps giving me an error about the "side by side configuration". I am running windows 7 64bit and these are the specs on my phone,

cidnum: SPCS_001
Version-main: 4.06.651.4
product: m7_wls
version-bootloader: 1.56.0000
I am HTC Dev unlocked and S-ON
Any help I could get getting me back to stock would be very greatly appreciated.

I have tried different usb ports, and downloaded from multiple mirror sites, and tried a different cable. But I dont have any other pcs to try it on. I dont believe it is a usb or cable issue, I get that error as soon as I try to open the program. It wont even try to load.
just to confirm, you're tying to install the 4.06 RUU, right?
if yes, are you extracting the zip then running exe? run as administrator?
only other suggestion would be to try to use fastboot to flash the rom.zip from the extracted RUU

OK....I am on 4.06.651.9 --- S-off --- 1.56 H-boot ---CID SPCS_001 --- Unlocked. I've been trying to completely downgrade and tried using RUU 1_29_651_10, both zip and exe and I get the same notification ---"FAILED"--- Device is recognized and I've tried it with both "locked" and "unlocked" and with the Sprint CID and with Super Cid. I feel like I'm out of options. Anyone have a sure-fire fix for this?

Follow this guide to get back to JB then use the 1.29 RUU to accomplish what you are trying to do.
Something changed with hboot 1.56...for some reason it won't allow you to run an older RUU even though you are s-off

Well crap....it didn't work. I got the "error 155". Do I need to downgrade the h-boot to 1.55 or should it have worked for 1.56? Thats the only reason I can see why it didn't work. Also, I downloaded and ran the ".exe" file at the top of the page, should I have used the modified firmware ".zip" ?
EDIT: Oh man...I feel so dumb...I somehow missed the part about downloading the "decrypted" file....I just saw it saying "Developers" and didn't think that was the one....I'll try that one tomorrow..

Hey Guys,
I am pulling my hair out trying to return my HTC one M7 back to stock. Selling it to a friend that knows nothing about rooting and is not tech savy.
Anyways I cant seem to get the RUU to do. I have the correct file (I am with Rogers in Canada) that is the most up to date (see pictures).
I keep getting the Error 158 Image Error when I run the setup.
My phone is Locked as well which i know is the main cause for this error.
I am also running HD Revolution 84.0 at the moment.
I also set the CID to 11111111, hoping this might fix it but no luck
Any help is most appreciated.

you should be able to pull it from the ruu, when you start the ruu and it extracts itself, make sure your computer is showing hidden files and folders then goto C:\users\(your user name)\app data\ local\(lots of strange characters and numbers folder) before closing the RUU and copy the firmware to a different location on your computer.
However, also as your s-off, you are aware you can flash any RUU like the 401 (WWE) or developer edition, its all stock.

Is it the Rom.zip file? When I tried to copy to the phone in windows 7 to the phone, it just gives me a "Cannot copy item" msg. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.
I am thinking maybe the dev edition might be the best bet because my friend might be switching to another carrier instead of Rogers

Can to simply take the firmware from the OTA? If so, do I install the .zip like any ROM? Because I am trying to do that and as soon as I hit install in TWRP, it just reboots the recovery.
And yes I did backflash the HBOOT. I believe i had to do it when I had the lastest Viperone rom installed.

Crap .. what firmware did you flash ?? and you never answered how did you get to hboot 1.44
you have to flash those OTA firmware.zip in order 3.x to 4.x to 5.x to 6.x ... you cant just jump to the newest firmware
when you plug in your phone check device manager for QHSUSB_DLOAD
Oops I forgot to finish my post. I did downflash the hboot when I downloaded the latest viperone rom (i think it asked me to if I remember correctly).
So device manager has QHUSB_DLOAD, what should i do with it?
Sorry for all the headaches. I am still a little new to the firmware stuff and going back to stock

he said, not from an ota. Ota fimware are only patches and must be flashed incrementally like clsA said.

Looks like you make the situation worse. you could have avoided that by following what they said...
Now follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770684
Just got an HTC One M7 (in red ) . It's the Sprint variant running stock Android 5.0.2. I just finished unlocking the boot loader through HTCDev. I'd like to make a back up of the stock recovery. How can I do this? Here's the results of fastboot getvar all
Code:
version: 0.5
version-bootloader: 1.61.0000
version-baseband: 1.02.20.0922
version-cpld: None
version-microp: None
version-main: 6.23.651.10
version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
product: m7_wls
platform: HBOOT-8064
modelid: PN0720000
cidnum: SPCS_001
battery-status: good
battery-voltage: 4309mV
partition-layout: Generic
security: on
build-mode: SHIP
boot-mode: FASTBOOT
commitno-bootloader: dirty-0e2a13e5
hbootpreupdate: 11
gencheckpt: 0
Also, what's the latest TWRP and Root I can install on it? I searched for those too, but the download links are for older versions of the phone or different variants such as the m7_ul. Are those compatible with the version of the M7 that I have? Never messed around with a Sprint phone before and don't want to mess anything up.
And which would be the method of obtaining s-off for this variant? I did some searching and found outdated information for older versions of the phone. Would I need to s-off if I wanted to replace icons for built it apps, change the color of the dialer, and change bootup & shutdown animations? Or can all that be done with s-on?
Also, is it possible to use this variant on the AT&T or T-Mobile network with LTE?

You need the phone already s-off to backup the stock recovery. This is done by downgrading hboot to 1.44 so you can use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot a custom recovery without flashing it. Then you can backup the untouched /recovery partition using dd commands from the booted recovery. Otherwise the stock recovery can be extracted from a 6.23.651.10 ruu. Anyway the stock recovery is pretty much useless now that the phone is so old: the only thing it will do that twrp can't is installing htc's ota update (this phone will not receive new update)

Looks like you don't understand what S-OFF is for, you should stay away from this until you read and understand what S-OFF is. S-OFF is not required to do anything you have asked.

No, not with LTE. Frequencies are not compatible.
Sorry for the late reply. I've been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks.

I see. Yeah, I guess it's not worth the hassle then, especially since there will definitely won't be any new ota updates. I'll just grab it from the ruu as you mention :good:

I see. The only phones that I have mangaed to get s-off on were the two HTC Sensations that my girlfriend and I had. It was a pain in the neck to get it to work, but it worked. From what I remember reading, s-off allows you to write to some write protected system partitions. I thought that would be necessary if I wanted to replace icons for built it apps, change the color of the keyboard & dialer, and other stuff. But if s-off is not needed to do any of that, even better However, I'm surprised that there's no other way to obtain s-off besdies Sunshine. I thought I'd have to do something similar to the Sensation phone.

It was possible to s-off using other methods than sunshine on older hboot versions but now since 1.57 only Sunshine is working.

Oh boy, looks like I have version 1.61. I supposed I could try downgrading the hboot. What would happen if I did downgrade and the did the s-off, would I be able to upgrade the hboot version and keep the phone with s-off?

Then I guess in my case it would be worth it. If I could use this Sprint variant with either AT&T or T-Mobile, that would be fantastic. Thanks!

I'm not able to flash TWRP. It keeps failing. I tried different versions (twrp-3.2.1-0-m7wls.img, twrp-3.1.1-0-m7wls.img, and twrp-2.8.7.0-m7wls.img) and they all fail. I attached an image. I thought after unlocking the bootloader that I could flash a custom recovery. What did I miss?

Hboot can't be downgraded when S-ON. Nothing can automatically revert a S-Off phone back to S-On (this include hboot update). The only way to set back S-ON is with the appropriate fastboot command.

Are you sure your BL is unlocked? There shouldn't be any signature verification on the recovery image when the BL is unlocked...

Yep, I went through the whole HTCDev process of unlocking it. I just powered it down to go into the bootloader and take a picture of it. As you can see in the attached image, it says: *** UNLOCKED ***
I didn't have this issue with other HTC phones that I unlocked the bootloader as mentioned in this thread. I was able to flash the TWRP recovery of both AT&T variants of the M8 on the first try without issues. I've yet to try the Sprint M8, but will do so later today.
EDIT: I tried a different USB cable and was able to flash TWRP successfully. I immediately did a nandroid backup. I also installed Magisk Manager as per your suggestion. However, I'm not sure as to how I'm supposed to get a stock boot image dump beforehand with the ".img" extension. I thought the nandroid backup would have that, but the boot file is named boot.emmc.win (16MB in filesize). Can I copy that file and rename it with a ".img" extension?

Sorry for the delayed answer.
Glad you've found the problem with the cable :good:
Backbup made with twrp will always have the .emmc.win extension. I'm not sure renaming the file with a .img extension will do the trick, I never tried. Attached is the stock boot.img for your firmware version (6.23.651.10)
