Is there a specific reason why CleanRom hasn't been posted in the dev section? I am using cleanrom developer edition.. AOSP and Sense combination and it is unbelievable. got 13000 on Quadrant, Keeps Sense camera and gallery and has Vanilla JB feel (besides settings) also has back button hold for menu, Jellybean style lockscreen, advance power menu with nice icons. A real winner imo. Only things missing for my needs are IR blaster software which it says is coming, and batt %. He also has a stock style sense cleanrom
I don't believe he's working on HTC anymore he switched to the galaxy s4

Get a stock rom. Use Rom cleaner from android dev section and remove sense. Go to general android dev section Search for build.prop tweaks. Pack it all. Sign your Rom. Flash it . Voilaaa u have your own Cleanrom. and as a bonus you can go ask for recognised developer title too. Win win situation.

Scott's ROM's are discussed thoroughly on the AT&T One forums. Then he switched to Verizon (coverage issues where he lives I seem to recall?) and ceased all work on AT&T versions.
If the AT&T forums get merged with these forums you'll see a little more discussion I suppose..

Here's a snippet of Peter Alfonso, I'm used to seeing his name on various Android blogs. He's one of the top dev's on XDA, gathered his fame on the OG Droid. http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/10/the-tato-series-an-interview-with-peter-alfonso/
Pete was the best developer for the original Droid in my opinion. The GPA series is stock with a few enhancements. They are excellent ROMs if you want something very close to stock.
I haven't rooted yet but I keep thinking I'll do it when cm9/aosp/aokp comes out for the device, that is if it's still in development. Anyone still working on it? I found a thread discussing it but the thread seemed to have turned into a huge cat fight and then it got locked

Those beta ROM's you're talking about are just Sense ROM's ported from the Sensation with many Sense parts removed. AOSP based ROM's such as CM9 and AOKP are currently being worked on. The Vivid has many unique aspects that make it more difficult to work with, e.g. our RIL, HTC's crappy job with source. That's why it's taking longer for things to be released.
No this one is aokp, check the flyer forum. It took the developer forever to figure out a graphic issue, and he finally did it, now him and another developer are making progress fast. There are ports as you say but this one isnt, there is no "sense" whatsoever with that rom.
Anyway I'm not asking for an eta, i just am wondering if any developer or developers are working on it?

NOOB QUESTION!! What's AOKP?
I'm a VIVID HOLIC!!
Its a KANG build. I don't quite fully understand it myself, but I think its basically an a seperate rom based off CM sources.
At any rate to sum it up anything that's cyanogenmod, AOSP (Android open source project) or AOKP (Android open KANG Project) is going to be based off google source code, and closer to stock android and typically won't feature any Touchwiz, Sense, or motoblur apps.
Thanks! I knew about AOSP but I've been away from Android for a bit and since I've been back there's been some new things lol. I didn't know what AOKP was or even Kang but you've cleared that up for me

AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project http://aokp.co/index.php/about
its basically the same thing as AOSP except it has more features/customization

I'm was talking about the DeSensed, AOSP-like ROM's for the Vivid, I don't know anything about the Flyer. And yes work is being done on nearly a daily basis. You can track progress at the dev's git:

If you want to help out you can join the #htc-holiday channel on Freenode IRC.
Sorry I misunderstood you. Yeah I am aware the aosp styled roms on the vivid are stock roms with sense removed. I'd love to help out though I don't know a whole lot about development. How hard is it to learn?

I am using the Cyanogenmod 7.2. And the camera app is simply horrible. I checked out the many camera apps available on market but none came near to match the HTC stock camera app. This and the widgets are the only reason I keep coming back to HTC sense rom. It would bbe very helpful if somebody could port these to be used in Cyanogenmod. Atleast somebody please port the HTC camera.
Firstly, this is the wrong section and secondly, you can't have HTC Sense stuff in an AOSP based ROM (CM7)

Thanked you by accident.
HTC Sense apps need the Sense framework to work. Since CM is AOSP, the framework is different. So they won't work. Try lgCamera instead, it has a lot more features than the Sense camera.
Maybe an new app who look like htc sense camera interisting ..
Edit:
New release of sense camera for aosp jellybean rom.you have only to port that app to gingerbread and you will have sense camera .

Hi everyone, I'm a HTC Incredible S user (stock) from Australia that has been increasingly frustrated with HTC support (lack of stock update to ICS due to carrier, Virgin Mobile), so I decided to take the matter to my own hand.
Question been: I have been browsing around the forum for various ROM to flash (read the important notices and all such), but one question come to mind... since I am using Go Launcher (free version, got sick with stock HTC sense) what are the con for said launcher? Is it recommended to replace stock/ROM launchers with it?
Thanks everyone for helping out.
It's up to you, I don't like Sense <=3.6 either.
I think the more popular launchers here on XDA are Nova and Apex.
The cons are that the Sense launcher will continue to use up memory as a system service but that can now be stopped using this.
Launchers are mostly for customization. Go launcher is among the best available to replace stock launcher. If you're going to root your device then you'll have the liberty to choose whether you want a sense based rom or just plain vanilla rom (rom without sense framework and interface).
As of my experience, I'm liking apex launcher for its simplicity and ease of use, but if you are willing to spend some bucks, i would recommend tsf launcher, nice eye candy yet still not a burden to system resources.

+1 for Apex - I like how you can change the name and icon for the app in the home screen among other customisations all for free.
Some apps in Google Play are great but their icons are sh1te
Thanks for suggestions guys! Much appreciated!
Just one more question to ask: which ROM is the best recommended to go for right now? I was thinking Nik's JB ROMs, but half afread the phone might not be able to run it smoothly (store mobile Incredible S with stock ICS update lag like hell...)
Thanks very much.
EDIT: opps forgot to mention, without HTC sense...
Smoothest experience and best battery/performance close to stock:
ARHD or The Second Sun rom
Nonverbose's kernel
ultrasmooth rosie
v6 supercharger
Andrev daemon
Project butter hacks
I agree with markj on his suggested rom and tweaks. If you're looking for non sense rom, give nik's jb rom a try.
EDIT : you tried that, my bad the rom still new, nik will further polish it in the future for sure
Personally, for plain-non sense-ics rom, i prefer icecoldsandwich together with those tweaks (minus kernel) mentioned.

I had the same experience as you when I updated with the OTA stock ICS update... almost hurled my phone at the wall with the lags and rubbish battery life.
IceColdSandwich worked well for me but I'm now using CodeName JB (I like to roll with the cool kids) and both have been very smooth, the latter much more so IMO.
A thing to note if you are snap happy - the camera quality in AOKP/AOSP ROMs will not be as good as Sense ones. Just something I noticed as well as others in XDA.
First of all - I don't own the One (I have an HTC DNA) but I figured here would be the better place to post it since more people who could answer could see it. I am a complete stranger to this forum section, so if I do something that the people here in this forum are against, I apologize. Also, I'm not sure if this belongs here or in Q&A, so moderators please move if in wrong place.
Now to the actual question,
Is there such a thing as a Sense 5 based launcher that is more customizable? The features I am wanting is things like disabling widget padding, disabling margins, overlapping widgets, and changing app icons/labels. If you don't understand what I am saying, I'll use an anolagy. Apex/Nova is to AOSP launcher, as what I'm asking about is to Sense 5.
All answers are greatly appreciated.

No. But viper Rom lets you customize the stock sense launcher more than HTC intended.

But can you use those modifications on another ROM? I'm interested it Elliptic ROM for my DNA (which was ported from the One, so you may be familiar with it), and I want to know if there is a way to use these Viper features on the DNA.

There are several mods (at least for the DNA) that do this. I am sure there are some for the One.

Do you mean the app switcher? Viper and several other ROMs have an option for the AOSP app switcher.

Could you just pull the prism.apk from the viper launcher? I'm actually curious to know if doing that would work to get the viper sense 5 settings in another ROM, say ARHD for instance..
