since yesterday afer a driver update my MTP doesnt work anymore !
I did everything...deinstalled driver installed driver...sync manager..etc I can put files on it everything ist fine !
The only thing which doesnt work ist MTP, so I cant use fastboot to s off for example ! Toolkit works to flash cwm recovery for example
Please help me
I'm having the same problem. I CAN connect it to my pc, and access the storage on my phone. When I try this on my laptop it will just restart HTC sync a few times.
In my device manager it shows MTP as Other devices. I tried installing a driver for it, but that didn't work out either. I'll be home this afternoon and try to copy the drivers from my pc to my notebook to see if that works out..
Anyone with a real solution?
*Update*
Tried to connect it to someone else his PC here in the office and there it worked.. I guess I'll have to reinstall my Windows. I messed around with it quite a bit... Have some problems with Visual Studio too because of it.
Have you tried connecting it to any other computers?

I am on vacation, and just brougth a new notebook (lovely Medion Akoya), and i want to sync with my diamond. However, i downloaded the active sync from the ms homepage, and i get the "Unrecognized device" error all the time.
Yes, i tried to use different cables, yes i tried to deactivate the advanced network, however, i doesnt seem to recognize it at all.
Even if i do a softreset + volume down, i just get the SPL1-40 screen, but eventhou my phone is plugged in the USB, it doesnt say that, only "serial" when i disconnect.
I've been searching this forum the entire day, and i cant seem to find a solution. So, i kindly ask the gurus help me

Try to flash a stock ROM and check if you run into the same problem.
In order to sync, you must be running the handset normally, don't enter bootloader mode.
Did the system prompt you for drivers the first time you connected it to the PC? Activesync 4.5 provides the rndis drivers.
the problem is, i cant even flash my device, i tried to flash it, but i get a connection error with the tool.
I know about the bootloadermode, and that i am not able to sync in that state, but i just wanted my pc/diamond to recognize the connection between them. The system did not prompt me for drivers, it just went straigth to unrecognized device. i even tried to point the the driverupdate tool to the drivers folder with the rndis drivers in the as folder.
-i also tried to hardreset my device.
Try doing the same on a fresh stock XP install, without firewall or anything similar.
We need to figure out if it's a problem with the handset itself or your OS/PC.
Try another USB port (DON'T use hubs).
Enter bootloader mode. When you connect it to the USB, it should at least toggle from serial to usb.
If that's the case, at least your USb is working well.

I was trying the other day to flash a friends Galaxy S stock 2.2 but i couldnt connect the phone to the pc. In the pull down menu, it didnt appeared the dialog to click to go for usb mass storage or anything.
I've selected USb Debugging, clicked in the options for USB Mass Storage, and when i connect the phone to PC and cable, both play the connected sound, but still nothing more. What could be the pb? and how can i solve it?

also to mention. I'm running win 7 on 64bits, drivers installed correctly and my phone has no pb at all when it comes to connect it to the PC.

try different ports or re-install your drivers(kies) take a look on the Themes and Apps section i saw a thread for drivers... try on a different computer....
have tried reinstalling the drivers, also using all the ports available on my pc. still the same pb.:-<
Definately PC issue. Reinstall Kies drivers.

I'm unable to install USB drivers for my LG P880. It used to work some time ago but it doesn't any longer and I haven't figured out yet what could be the reason.
I'm running OmniRom, but experienced the same problems with CGM.
It still works perfectly fine with my PC at work, so I'm pretty sure the phone itseld as well as the cable aren't the problem. Both my home PC and my work PC run Win7 64bit, so this cannot be part of the reason either. I tried all USB slots on my home PC (which all work fine with other devices) but changing the slot didn't help.
I tried several driver packs, especially the original ones from LG (current versions as well as older versions), but also drivers from other sites. My work PC however discoveres them automatically, I don't even have to download drivers manually.
USB Debugging is on, fast charge is off, MTP is on.
I'm running out of ideas. Does anyone know what could make it work again? Thanks in advance!
Check in windows device manager if there are any conflicting drivers installed
I guess sometimes solutins are so simple I just don't think of them... After deinstalling all devices with the little yellow triangle in the device manager it worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!

for the first time since my HTC Desire I'm trying to install a custom rom on my phone. So far I unlocked bootloader, installed twrp and now I want to install cm13, however i ran into a problem:
In Windows 10 in the explorer my phone is only shown as a cd-rom, not as a usb-drive...
I have connected it to the PC via usb and usb debugging is activated.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, however I just couldn't find a working solution in the internet until now...

Yes, I tried both, didn't change anything.
EDIT: By the way, I deinstalled SyncManager again, but the newest htc drivers should be installed. (It didn't work before deinstalling SyncManager either)
EDIT2: I reinstalled SyncManager and now the cd drive is gone again...
Okay, I just sort of solved the problem - I just plugged my phone into another PC (also with Win10), without installing any drivers and now it works on that PC...

i have bricked the phone. i flashed nougat 7.1.1 it and saw that it doesnt have my IMEIs so i used chamelephon to fix them , which usually worked on other roms i used but with this one didnt. and then the problems started. i went back to flash again the rom. i formated all system, data, everything and then tried to copy the rom in to the phone but windows dont recongize it anymore. cant install drivers , its unknown device and cant connect the phone to windows to copy the rom. tried sideload but windows does not recongnize a device. cant sp flash it also because when power off and turn it on ,still cant recognize it ... any help ?
fixed it . it had to do with drivers of windows mixed up. i cleaned them and then it got working again.

How u fixed it bro ?
when you install too much drivers some times it does some sh't. so power off the comp not restart it. if it doesnt fix it, there is a an app for PC called driver booster. it has the option to clean all the drivers for not plugged in usb devices. you disconnect all and run this . it will clear every driver that is not in use by any usb device. then when you plug in your devices it will recognize them and find the correct drivers without having problem.
