[Q] Saw one off topic thread. Thought I'd make another one. - Motorola Atrix HD

ANDROID MINI PCs!?!?
Do any of our AHD guys use any of these things? Like the mk802, or mk808b, or imito mx1? If you have one, what cool stuff can you do with it? I'm pretty set on buying an mk808b in the pretty immediate future. Any thoughts? Suggestions for better stuff? Any advice on the topic would be great as I have zero experience with hooking Android to TV monitors.

I had bought one a couple months ago, haven't gotten around to actually using it yet though.
There is a thread on xda about rooting and such, look for Android Stick Computers

I want to buy one with a built in webcam to set up a cheap, in-home surveillance camera which I can access 24/7. I would also like to play the many movies I have.

I have a MK802III and works quite fine, haven't tried plugging a webcam to it to check if it works.

I know I'd like to get an Android stick PC...something to hook into my TV and use as an emulator & Netflix box...Might just get one over a Xbone or PS4 and just play the old PSX games I never had the chance to growing up. Like I've never played Xenogears...heard its an awesome game...
Anyone else thing the average person will be a bit confused about the new Xbox being called the Xbox One? There already was one...I have a box with 5 disassembled just for spare parts. I think they should have gone with Xbox Media Center or Xbox NSA Edition.

I still have a copy of that Splinter Cell just in case i ever need it. Only OG Xbox game I still have...though I do have an Executer 3 Mod Chip
MS kinda screwed themselves with the 360 name...makes it hard to call it the Xbox 3, but I doubt they'd do that because they'll assume dumb people will see an Xbox 3 next to a PS4 and say "4 is better than 3, get that one"...sadly they're partially right. Now all the game stores with Xbox 1 signs are gonna have to get new old Xbox signs.
I like the Sony naming style...1, 2, 3, 4...simple and easy.

xbox 1 = og with the dinner plate controller, new xbox one = the dumbest name ever.
og halo player.. love xboxs but hate that they fed up big on that name..

I was about to post that the upcoming MGS:V was an Xbox One Exclusive... So glad is isn't after all... But to be honest... MGS doesn't belong on an Xbox... Just doesn't feel right...
Also, still wondering if MGS:V is directly after Peace Walker... That would explain Miller being alive, Big Boss/"Punished" Snake, and MSF references...

nah super lame
nah there lame & slow lol

Agree. Not to mention, had my daughter spill a whole cupfull of water on mine, while it was playing a movie. Unplugged it, dryed it, and it still works like it's brand new! Unlike the 360, all u have to do is look at it wrong and your sending it off to get serviced. Microsoft piece of crap!

Can't lie, XBL is badass, I love the features but what is it now, $60 a year?
Not much really but still a pain to have to pay for something like that on top of paying $60+ for games.
But for some people who don't have a computer or sick phone, my gf's friend only has a ps3 and a wii, no computer and a jinky old phone and she uses her ps3 to watch youtube vids and uses it to search the web.
Hell I use my ps3 almost all day on my days off, between streaming music, watching netflix and playing black ops, it never gets a break and never once has it over heated or givin me any errors, my dad's 360 always has disc read errors even after getting the lense cleaned.

Do you exploit glitches in video games?

Funny i'm asking this in XDA, but I had this argument with a couple of friends and well, they think that exploiting minor glitches in video games is wrong, though I think its nice to have a small boost sometimes!

It depends. If you're using glitches to do stuff you can't normally do when offline then that's fun. If you're doing it online then you're a loser who needs a life. The only people who think it's okay to cheat online are other losers who also need to get a life.

Not on my PS3 (not that I really play online often but I still feel like it cheapens the "achievements" ).
However I will on the emulators I play on my phone since the control scheme already puts me at a disadvantage and I'm not playing games on my phone for anything other a quick break from everything while I'm waiting on line or something like that.

Nah, really I'm not missing out. I have played both platforms online and PS3 is my preferred choice. I'm the opposite of you - I've had a PS3 since release day, but am on my 3rd Xbox which I only got cos it was so cheap. I get them and then regret it and sell them normally. I'll keep it this time though, just for the exclusives.
Personally, I prefer an online experience where you don't have spoilt little brats calling you ever racist or homophobic slur they can think of. And I'd rather not listen to someone else's favourite dubstep track while trying to play a game. There's certainly a lot more Xbox users (kids always buy the cheaper console), but that's not really relevant when the first thing you do is mute every single one of them.
Depends on if I'm playing for money

Word and word. I would like if a few more people had mics on PS3 to call in movement in BF3, but the spot function works well enough that my K/D stays positive and my team usually wins. I'll deal with that sacrifice if it means no little turds flapping their gums and not having to pay another $30 a month on top of internet costs. PS3 controller fits my hands better as well, but that's just nitpicking.

What fun things can I do, other than emulators?

I have an iPad 4th gen, snagged the Nexus 7 32gb for emulator use and to tinker with.
4.1.2 (as 4.2 broke sixaxis for me).
what other fun things can I do other than NES/SNES/PSX emulation?
what can this thing really do that an iPad can't at this point?
Thanks guys! Digging my first android Tablet thus far!
Download a dosbox application and play older PC games.
Download GrooveIP lite (free) and grab a free Google voice number to turn your tab into a giant mobile phone.
Download a GPS app, get a mount for the car and have a nice 7" GPS with 3d turn by turn nav. I use copilot with the north american maps - activated 3d and voice turn by turn for $7.99.
Just a few I can come up with off the top of my head.

Not much really u got basicly a premium experience with the iPad, but one thing u can do that's unique is try out different launchers to change the look of your homescreen/app drawer, you can change icons, layout, etc. And if you really want to get down and dirty with theming you can flash a custom Rom with a theme manager and in the play store there are a bunch of themes to try to ur liking just be sure to make sure the theme is cm10 compatible, glad ur liking ur nexus 7

Google "Tasker". It lets you program your tablet to do pretty much anything.
Mine sounds Ships Bells every half hour, turns off wifi at night, starts the music player when I plug in headphones, and interfaces with RFID cards.
On my list is to have the tablet respond to a text message with a message giving a Google map showing its current GPS location,
and maybe a photo of its surroundings. Sky is really the limit.
And calling the iPad a premium experience is really a matter of taste. It would not be to me.

I respect your opinion on the iPad. Before hating on the apple bandwagon, the iPad 4th generation is VERY slick.
One thing i noticed on the nexus 7 is fast scrolling in apps like facebook isn't fluid. often I find it studders/pauses. Nothing crazy or bad, but if you really sit down with the iPad and keep an open mind - it's a very fluid experience.
The downside is how locked down the ecosystem is, which is where android shines. They both have their pro's and cons. I like them for what each of them have to offer. I'd never limit myself to just one platform. You limit so many possible experiences and gadgets....... and i love me some gadgets

Doesn't the note only have a 1280x800 display? I wouldn't compare the iPad to the Note 10.1, the iPad would win hands down. However, comparing the iPad to the Nexus 10 or Asus Infinity would be a much better comparison.

Is still worth the buy?

Hi. first of all, sorry for my english.
I want to buy a new tablet, because i'm so tired of my ipad 2.
I found a guy selling his 32 gb 3g nexus 7 for 230 euros, 70 euros less than the official price. he bought the tablet in january 2013.
is it still worth the buy? how is the battery life? and the performance in day usage?
can i expect a long term updates support or google will let the tablet die after the 18 months software support?
i also have a 2 weeks-old nexus 4.
Where do you live? I bought my 32gb Nexus at a official store for 205 euros.

Btw, I got mine brand new for $325(about 250 euros) from ebay.
Again, for it's price, it's still a killer tablet. It's way better(imo) than ipad.

I would suggest you wait until the new Nexus 7 is released later this month, or wait till the current Nexus 7 drops in price.
Sent from my Nexus 7
I would buy it now, and I'd still buy it 6 months from now.
Unless the second gen N7 really appears in the meantime.
Don't buy it, the 7's a pile of ****. Wait for the new one or buy an iPad mini for smooth games, excellent sound quality, and no lags!. Things you will not get from the 7. For me, because of app quality, it's iOS for Tab's, android for phones!.

No i still love android and my nexus 4 and iOS is horribly closed(iOS7's a bit better though)without jailbreaking. It's just I thought my nexus 7 would be like a big nexus 4 but because of tegra(**** sound, laggy UI and games) and ASUS (poor screen calibration) it wasn't. But I was suprised by how superior iOS tablet apps were compared to android and how much more screen you saw while browsing(with the 4.3 screen ratio @7.9inch's it's %35)and despite older processing architecture it runs the most graphically intensive games smoothly!(Because iOS code is well written and android code is not). After swapping the 7 for the mini I realized Android apps don't cut it on tabs at the moment. Way to much **** in the playstore and the few tablet apps they got just cannot compete with iOS versions(particularly music creation apps).

Learn how to optimize your tab. And since you already tossed it cause it "lagged" and got an ipad.....maybe go hang out in their forum....all you're doing here is showing how lazy and tech un-savvy you are, since you couldn't follow a few simple steps and use a tiny bit of effort to streamline your N7.
You'll be crying that your N4 is junk too in a year......not just older then and bogged down with crap.....you'll be saying its just garbage. Lol
BTW....anyone that claims lag in 4.2.2 is unstoppable .....I'll tell you a secret....you can always flash an earlier android version if you've given up on 4.2.2.
Have a nice day slugger!

So you got rid of your nexus 7, got an iPad mini, and now you're hanging out here bashing the Nexus 7 and trying to convince others to buy iPads... Wtf?

Plus he's missing the point of owning any android....to most of us anyway....and that's the fact that we can mess with them any way we want to.
Apple anything's are smooth and stable, sure....but you can't do Jack to them....you buy it, use it the way apple intended it to be used without deviation ....and that's about it. LOL. Awesome if your 6 or 80 or anyone else that just wants something to work and never wants to change anything about it. Wait...you can change ringtones and wallpaper still, right??

It's funny how if anyone dares criticise a nexus product there assumed to be a computer illiterate OAP by a million vexed android nerds! LMFAO!!. Anyone who buys a nexus device knows how to flash ROMs and run scripts. How old is the average user on xda?. I'm starting to think its very young indeed, or the people hear are thick! Having owned this 8GB tablet for many months obviously I was used clearing storage regularly and thoroughly, OK :good:.

After modifying sound as much as possible, overclocking the thing to 1.6 and using an app to adjust the colour and downdating to 4.2.1, clearing storage with many apps(sd maid and the rest)on a daily basis. People are proving how "tech un-savvy" they are in your mind only. Your an idiot.

First..... here* ... hear means hearing with your ears.
Second..... give it up friend. Of your whopping 19 posts, most are just to bash the N7, not criticize, bash. Try to post something useful and gain the respect of your peers.
Third..... anyone who buys an N7 roots and flashes? LOL. You do realize the majority of any device owners know nothing of such things, nor do they frequent websites like this. I bet most owners don't know what rooting even means.
Forth..... you obviously know nothing about rooting, roms and scripts yourself ...or your N7 would NOT lag. Like mine and so many others. Vroom vroom!
Have fun with your ipad....as much as one can with a closed sourced o/s anyway. I hear they are asking for you in the ipad forums. Buh bye!
Oh....see you in the N4 forums in a few months when you nerdrage about it being crap too cause it suddenly lags.

I'm not going to give a response to the first part because that was stupid and doesn't have anything to do with this discussion. Downgrading to 4.2.1 won't do anything. For results (according to some) you'll need to drop down to 4.1.2. Also, I think generally you need at least 3gb storage free to have a smooth experience (something to do with the crappy io chip in the 7. I haven't read up on it too much).

Idiot? Very mature. LOL
Good luck on xda, with your attitude help will be hard to find.
And now ill report you for that comment cause people like you aren't needed on these forums.
Then I'll put you on ignore. Then I won't have to run across your negative and narrow minded rediculous posts.
Bye! Enjoy your super awesome ipad!

From a CoD player perspective: yes. Compared to CoD, BF has a better game engine, plus vehicles.
From a Battlefield player perspective: maybe. This game is not a big step ahead in the saga, nor is heavily differentiated by the previous games.
Basically Hardline is a Cops and Robbers game on steroids: it could have been far more realistic, with normal guns and vehicles, but then it would have just been a Payday game. Then they probably decided to keep using weapons such as rocket launchers and vehicles such ad assault helicopters.
Personally I'm not that hyped for BFH. Well, since BF4's launch is terrible, the community lost faith in EA/DICE. If you play CoD and is not a "cod kid" then you could go for it, as BF is generally more vehicle intensive and the guns feel like real guns which cod players might find it hard to adapt to.

Well EA & Origin were offering BF 3 download for free which I took up , started playing campaign and enjoyed it.
I might go for Hardline, but not 100% sure on that one. But thanks very much
