I have looked around (maybe not in the right places) but haven't found a generic and clear cut steps to remove any lockscreen (HTC or rotary or anything else) via adb and replace with custom lock screen of any other sort. Can anyone that knows exactly how to accomplish this post the steps or if those steps are already floating in the forum somewhere post it?
Thank you so much..... (I had to flash the rom every time I messed with the lockscreen!!!)

I don't know what you mean by custom, but to remove the HTC Lockscreen, do this with adb:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm HtcLockScreen.apk
exit
That will remove the HTC Lockscreen and, assuming you're running a ROM that has the vanilla lock screen already, it will show up with that.
There aren't many custom lock screens for 2.1 that I know of. All the ones I've seen have been for 1.5.
I'm not sure if damagecontrol has vanilla lock screen along with his Rom, if he doesnt then it explains. Thank you.

Check this thread, I think it is what you are looking for: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-sprint-hero/82790-bad-lockscreen.html
How can i get the stock android slider lockscreen on this rom? every time i try to replace the .jar file in the framework there is a black bar going across the screen where the old lockscreen was. Someone help?
That's because you're doing it wrong. You don't change any files in the framework for that mod. You replace the android.policy.odex file.

I think he means the framework folder (/system/framework) which is correct.
I thought his ROM already had the android stock lock though... do you want the touchwiz/glass lock screen? Or Taplock (with the slide left/right options)?
I dont want the glass lock screen. I hate it. I want the 2 slider one

Of the three variations of Shep's ROM, there are 2 with the stock lockscreen, one without. I guess he has the one without.
He actually was replacing the correct file. Sorry aknitter1.
Since Shep's ROMs are fully deodexed, you will want this file.

Remember to backup, replace, then reboot after you are done. And be sure to thank Nixxed for that, it came from his thread. +1 for Nixx
yea. thats what i used... but for some reason the black bar with the arrows on it is still there.. ?? ill try to post a screen shot.
this is my problem...
Problem Solved. Figured it out.
Why not elighten people as to what you did to fix the issue. Could very well help someone out in the future.
To get the stock lock screen go to this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808763
...and download the stock lockscreen (JPM_Froyo_Lockscreen.zip) and install it to your phones internal SD card. Reboot into clockwork recovery and flash it. reboot and its done!
I am running Phoenix v4.05 rom using Cosmic76 v5 theme I installed a new keyboard per the instructions attached. I followed through restarted it worked great. I had to sut down the phone a while later. When I restarted it I saw the screen attached. Now the keyboard does not show in local and TEXT.
Any help would be great
Those instructions are for a droid x....not a captivate...Which phone do you have?
Undo whatever you did to install that keyboard.
Then take the one attached at the bottom of this post, put it on your phone, and tap to install it like any other app.

Much appreciated. So install it the same way as in the instructions above, only use this apk instead?

No, dont use the instructions from the Word file. Put the apk on your phone, on your sdcard somewhere, then navigate to it, and tap to install it.
Ok, yea I tried. Thats a standard android keyboard!

I'm confused. Which is a standard keyboard? The one you tried to use in the original post or the one I gave you?

The one you gave me,
Attached is a screenshot of the one I was using. Keep in mind... It was working! I don;t recall what I did to make it work. It was working for a couple weeks, until I had to re-flash. Also attached is a pic of the look of the kb.
Hey there,
I just bought some SmartTags for my new Xperia Z, and they work very effectively, but there is one big thing that compromises the whole idea of automation. Obviously, you cannot use them when the screen is off or locked. So I have to hit the power button, enter my unlock pattern, approach the tag, hit the power button again. I guess this is for security measures, but is there any way to make them work like that?

This would be great if someone can modify the NFC.apk file (If I am correct) to run even when the screen is off. This was done for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 previously. Much more convenient to tap without having to press the power on button.

Convenient maybe, but a lot less secure.

For sure, but why not let us decide convenience or security. It'd be great if someone manages to give us this option for the Z too.
Root Access is just answer!
in NFC Hacking forum i talked about turn on/off automation. and answer is just Root access unfortunately.
Well, we have Root access, don't we?

i don know if u r root user or not.
normally u r DON'T have root access.
and if root ur phone, ur warranty will void.

Rooting does not void warranties. User damage to electrical devices voids warranty. I have rooted and installed custom Roms on phones for years and even sent back phones i've bricked for warranty replacement and they've always been repared/replaced on warranty.
If you cause damage to your own device through user error, rooted or otherwise, THAT will void your warranty.
As for NFC smart tags, if you can't program them to work with only your phone, so that you don't have to turn on the screen, then they're not very smart are they. I am glad I read this thread before purchasing any.

:good:
did anyone manage to figure out how to mod the apk to get nfc to work with the screen off?
Sadly, NO. I know that it is possible in galaxy S3 MOD.
this the mod for s3 if someone can make it for Z

The developer of ROMAUR once posted the .apk file that enables off screen nfc. This worked for the 434 firmware. He removed the mods from his main thread, I am not sure why. Perhaps someone could approach him and request for the nfc mod.

yeah i just asked him if its still in the rom and it is. According to some of the posts in his thread, there are still issues with it such as the icon not showing up. I had a look at the smali files for the nfc.apk to see if I could understand the changes he has done and compared it to my own but its significantly different. The nfc mods on other phones only change the code in one of the files (nfcservice.smali), whereas the romaur one changes many of them.
Im not a developer by any means (decompiling was an achievement for me!) so I'm too scared to try and mod this. Hopefully someone can pick this up for the xperia z...
NFCMod
I either need a link to the ROMs you are using (especially @dopee who pulled me here) or the Nfc.apk and all framework*.apk of them.
Then I would give it a try.

Thanks heaps mate really appreciate it!!
I have uploaded the NFC.apk, framework-res.apk and semcgenericuxpres.apk to dev-host (http://d-h.st/mgC).
I am using a rooted 253 stock rom, heres the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282415)
The latest stock rom is 307, I don't think the NFC apk changed, heres the link to that if you wanted it. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313369)
Let me know if you need anything else.

Edit: moved to thread
Wow that was quick!
I tried to install this 3 ways (sorry I'm sorta new at this so may not have done it correctly).
1. ADB but I got a permission denied when trying to remount / push. Do I need to have an unlocked bootloader and install a custom (unsecure) kernel?
2. I created a flashable zip. It went in ok, but when I rebooted, my NFC options disappeared. I restored to get it back.
3. I tried to just use root explorer and copied it to /system/app and ensured it had correct permissions. I deleted the nfc.odex file as well. After reboot, my phone tried to repair itself (triangle with tools icon) and then when it booted my NFC options disappeared.
Since you got it from a leaked 4.2.2 rom do you think that is why it is not working (I am on 4.1.2)? Or am I doing something wrong?
I was just using the lockscreen apk version.

If you're not on 4.2.2 it will probably not work. If you can give me a deodexed version (or link) of yours I'll take that too

So I have switched phones and my old Note 3 has a custom lock screen wallpaper I downloaded forever ago. I want the image file but I can't find it in my pictures. I assume that means when you select an image to use the the lockscreen image it must be moved and renamed. Anyone have any ideas where I might find it?
