Ok i will do that.
Better set CID to HTC_001. That is for the Europe region and will probably give you faster OTA's.

001 is general Europe. Unless I'm mistaken, there's no cid specifically for unbranded UK phones.
Since you're a fellow nord, I'd say you'd be better off using HTC__Y13.

It was just a thought that was all
The command is:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
.
You can change the supercid with other cid like HTC__405 or HTC__001 etc etc

Just make sure that what you change it to equals 8 characters. That's why there is an extra long space for CIDs like HTC__001.
Super CID is 11111111.

No prob mate
My device is natively 1.28.61.7 cid ORANG001 (UK EE/Orange/T-Mobile) although my bootloader is unlocked and I have been running custom software since I got it.
I have successfully s-offed my device with revone, removed the tampered warning and set super cid just with the fastboot method.
My question is...Can I permanently 'debrand' my device and continually receive and install stock updates by
1 Changing my cid to HTC__001 by the fastboot method.
2 Running a 1.2x.401.x RUU
3 Receive and install ota updates.
Will this scenario work as I have seen many conflicting answers on this forum and, if yes, do I need my bootloader locked or unlocked??
Also, if this scenario proves to be successful, where would it leave me if a subsequent ota update closes the s-off loophole??
Any informed assistance would me much appreciated.
To completely debrand:
S-OFF
Supercid
Flash a unbranded RUU
change your cid to HTC_001( or one you want)
You will receive OTA and all you need

it can stay unlocked
and you NEED supercid to flash the RUU

If you're on a custom ROM then you don't need to change your CID. It's only if running stock is it important

With Supercid you can't receive Official OTAs, so you have to set your cid to the One that receives updates First! for example, if your hear updates start rolling out in France for the french CID HTC_203, you just have to change your cid to HTC_203 and update via OTA, even if bootloader is unlocked, the most important for official updates is the CID!
If you're going to put supercid, that allow you to rom/firmware/ruu independantely from the CID, but not automatic official updates, just manual ones via recovery or fastboot (ruu).
Hope it clears out things

So quick question, I also have a Orange handset running 1.28.61.7... did you manage to S-off your device? ?
Just all i can see is there is no S-off for this software variant... please help.
Although when the device has a different model ID then the OTA will not install.
For example if your device has MID PN0714000 and you are trying to install OTA update 1.29.401.X then it will fail.

The software variant your running does not matter.
What matters is the CID and the MID.
I've posted the sections you need to read in the thread you opened.

Changing ONLY CID will not get you the OTA updates. For OTA, you need to change your CID, MID, flash a RUU for that CID, then OTA update it. After updating, you can change your CID and MID back to whatever you want.

You need to change CID, but you also need to change MID or the OTA won't install. Changing CID and MID is still not enough, because OTA will check your software version first. For example, if you change your CID to HTC__001 and MID to the correct one (I dono what is MID for HTC__001), you still can't install the OTA cos your ROM is different version than HTC__001. You need to install HTC__001 RUU, then check for OTA. Only this way you can get OTA from other regions.
UK can get Romania OTA because both their ROM version is the same, so UK can just change CID, they don't need to do so many steps

Mine is HTC__001 and I want to change to HTC__Y13 which is having same MID so what all should I do to get 4.2.2 OTA??
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
My CID is htc_001 and it sucks i allways get ota updates very slow compared to the other cids, so my question is to which cid should i change in order to get the fastest ota updates?
And another question, i flashed TWRP and rooted my phone, i still can get ota updates?
Again sorry for my noobish questions and my bad english.
You will need to be fully stock to get OTA's, recovery, no missing apps, stock rom etc.
and as for CID, well at a guess I would say super cid would get the updates first, however, recently ive heard its very dependant on your operator, country and whether you brought your phone or its on contract.
Im in the UK and on CID HTC__001 too, I read today that HTC are releasing the sense 6 update to UK customers somewhere around the 11th June, so Wednesday. im all ready for it, just got to flash stock recovery.

yes you need s-off, and if you change your cid, it must match your sw version! some software version only have a unique compatible cid and other have many compatible cid. i.e .401 sw version can use many different cid: HTC__001, HTC__Y13, HTC__032, HTC__203 etc etc..... but .502 version can only use one cid: CWS__001
to change cid:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid YOUR_CID [COLOR="Green"]<---- in most cases, start with HTC in capital letter, 2 underscores and 3 digits, always 8 characters total.[/COLOR]
i.e:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
you can read your actual cid with this command:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid

You need s-off to change CID and also need to know how to use fastboot commands.
very simple procedure after that, one simple command of "fastboot oem wite cid HTC__001"
HTC__001 is WWE edition, and cid number is always 8 character long, so HTC__001 has 2 underscores to make up the 8 character, BS_US001 is developer edition and only has 1 underscore to make up the 8 characters etc etc, always capital letters too.
Those are the 2 most popular CID's unless your on an AT&T phone with a T-Mo sim or Vise versa.

download an app called sunshine s-off onto your phone, not sure if you can get it from playstore, but just navigate to this link on your phone: http://theroot.ninja/
install the app once downloaded on your phone and then open it, it will run some tests, if it can s-off your phone then you have to pay $25 through paypal, if it cant s-off your phone then it will let you know why, your phone will reboot a couple of times, you will then have a free phone to do whatever you like with it.
after s-off, you can flash any RUU or firmware you like for your version of the M7 OTA's will be a thing of the past.
