Hey guys,
I'm looking to get away from Sense if possible, but I've found that the IR blaster app is pretty useful, so I don't want to leave it out.
Are there any AOKP or AOSP roms out that have support for the IR blaster, either through the stock HTC TV app, or otherwise? If not, are there any plans to incorporate something into the future versions?
There are currently no AOSP based ROM's that support the IR blaster (I believe due to lack of drivers).
However, when we get our hands on the "Nexus experience" ROM that HTC intends to release, it will very likely have the proper drivers which can be ported to all the AOSP based ROM's (since it'll essentially be an AOSP ROM).
So keep your eyes open, because who knows when it'll happen, but it's not too far off.

that is pretty much what im waiting for and deciding if ill switch over to ASOP. Hoping the "google edition" has beats zoe filters/mods (doesnt need actual zoe).

zoe and beats will still be present..read up a bit..
Its gonna have beats (wont be present in notification bar and probably wont be in settings) and it'll have a good camera, not sure about all the features though.

Big question!
Will HTC allow (contribute) devs to build perfect AOSP ROMs on this beauty?
What about bootloader unlock and warranty?
I'm on an intl. Galaxy S3, you can understand how keen I am to choose a dev friendly device.
I know Sony Xperia Z will be very friendly bit the screen is too big and battery seems not great.
Thanks.

AOSP is coming to the HTC One...
Qualcomm chipsets are quite well documented, so I wouldn't worry...

Seriously???
I think we need to get the device first, get the kernel source and then start looking into it...
I just wish when we unlock the device nothing gets broken... Like on sony when you unlock bravia, gracenote, download music info, track id doesnt work anymore. So hopefully this doesn't happen on the propriety features of htc one.

The new camera hardware/software will likely cause a lot of problems.
For example: Evo one lte has AOKP/CM etc with working cam, but but quality is nowhere near the sense camera quality and the Evo 3d, because of it's ridiculous and proprietary camera config had no cam on aosp, or if they do now, it took a helluva long time.
Don't get me wrong, I love HTC hardware, but I always plan of ditching sense software ASAMFP. But I'm just relaying my experience with their proprietary stuff thus far.
From my Evo LTE, yup.

HOX has poorer image quality in AOSP as well. Not massively so, but you can tell. To be honest I don't see HTC moving away from their imagechip stuff any time soon, things aren't going to change.

I am coming from gs3. There were huge problems about it not being open source because of undocumented exynos by Samsung. Since I am looking to run cm flawlessly with all future updates of cm coming on my phone how is htc one in that field. Will it get stable CM? Isin't snapdragon 600 open source?
Snapdragon is always opensource. I am guessing the real problem with having a stable CM build on HTC one is it's features like Zoe & camera. Both require HTC's own imaging chipset on which are closed source. So unless you can consider having a basic camera then yes it should be stable.

Correct. Anything that's not AOSP won't be in any CM build so 3rd party apps won't be in it

Using HTC's dedicated imaging chip is 98% not possible 2% if someone would bother reverse engineering the driver which is a very2x tedious task and I doubt anyone would bother.
So unless you require the imaging chip on what you call perfect then highly unlikely.

Care to explain that? What do you mean by imaging chip and what does it do?
HTC s last flagship one x still doesn't have flawless cm though its getting close. If enough major players get involved maybe there's a chance but the odds were stacked against h8rift as amazing and appreciated as his work is.

The camera. HTC has always used unique hardware for their camera and writes their own drivers that are not open source so the only way to get the camera working 100% in CM would be if some one went through the HTC driver.

But how come MIUI team has been able to port HTC camera & zoe along with gallery on their custom Rom? Any idea?
CM Rom + HTC Zoe Camera = Perfect combination
I was waiting on the sgs4, but after the cringe worthy unveiling last night…Im not 100% sold on it. Even with a nice vanilla rom, the hardware looks a bit boring (yeah, the screen does look nice…plus I bet the cpu+gpu will be awesome)…so my next choice is the HTC One. However, I don’t see any posts talking about Roms (other than stock/sense roms)…is this because its new…or is there an issue and custom vanilla android roms might not come out straight away?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I know whats what before jumping in (I know for example, the sgs2 couldn’t get JB roms working 100% because it was missing the Sammy HW compressor at one point)
Cheers guys

It's just a matter of time till the No-Sense script (I believe that's what it was called for most htc phones) is adapted for the One.
However, out of the box you should be able to use something like Nova launcher to give you as much vanilla as you can get without rooting.
Hope it helped

You have to wait for someone to develope AOSP for this device. Typically, you have some one try to get CM going, then you'll get aokp and so on if this device is popular enough.

Would be Sony Ericsson, but the Xperia X1 was build by HTC just Software was SE.
it will need some time until someone figures out how everthing works with snapdragon cpu and until htc delivers some kernel sources... hopefully they will update to 4.2.2 anytime soon with kernel sources to get stable cm10.1
It's the sense camera really that much better then the cm/aosp camera? Opinions?
Sense will be that much better cos it interacts with ImageSense and has software to make full use of it. AOSP will have to create their own drivers to make the camera work at all. Should AOSP ever produce super awesome camera drivers, then I would expect it to at least match the Sense camera
As of right now Sense camera destroys AOSP camera, due to software.

Yes I just went back to a sense Rom because of it. was really just wondering some of your opinions. I've heard from some that there's really not that much of a difference but it's pretty easily noticed.well hopefully they'll release a pure Google version and we'll be able to steal the drivers from that.

A pure Google version would probably only have basic drivers to ImageSense. If the device supports ImageSense, that means the drivers will have to go open sourced as well. Not sure how much HTC wants that to happen though.
Sense camera is better then AOSP camera.
Not for the zoe etc, but for the software and the ui
So I know that there is a Paranoid android ROM that has this feature, but will it ever become an app or something that any phone (specifically the HTC one) can use? Because I'd really like to keep the default ROM and have the HALO feature, because it is one of the most amazing things I've seen!
I know it's open source and would try myself, but I don't know how
Thanks for any help
Would be really hard to implement afaik, so I wouldn't expect anything to happen unfortunately

It will need some serious hacking to work on Sense based roms
AOSP ROMs though it can be compiled into the rom
btw there is already a PA ROM for this device in the original development section, and that has the latest HALO built in
Short answer: No, it's impossible.
But using some app like Floating Notification?
Yeah I've seen floating notification, but that doesn't have the "pop-up application" feature. So even though it is near impossible for a sense ROM, what about as a standalone app?
