Can anyone test this file through MXplayer or any other app that supports HW+? Please post results

MX can't play it in HW or HW+, only SW. Animes usually use VFR as this one, so HW is toast. Pretty sure HW/HW+ only work on only normal (CFR) vids.
I played the vid in Dice, BSPlayer, and MX Player. All played it via sw not hw or hw+.
This was on a Nook HD+ running CM10.1.
The playback was smooth however.

try mobo player.... its free in the market.. plays anything....
I tried, unfortunately does not play smoothly. I tried a rock player and vplayer. maybe some other suggestions
I am quite satisfied with QQPlayer, played MKVs extremely smoothly.
Try diceplayer
you can play 720p H.264 [email protected] +AC3/DTS/Flac MKV files
for me the best player for mkv(and not only) is MX Video Player.
With mx video player you can play 720p with h/w or s/w ?
Hi all,
I have samsung galaxy s and i switched to ics rom from GB 2.3.6(very stable and awesome) and found there no built-in video player while gb has samsung video player which plays all format with hardware decoding and MX player hw decoder also works but in ICS there is no hardware decoder also MX player hardware decoding not works. sw decoder is very lagy and useless and live wallpapers is also lagy. While in Team ICSSGS RC4.2 says Full Hardware Acceleration so where is hw acceleration???
I'm using Dice player and it seems to handle most of the formats I have with HW acceleration. Give it a try.
I recently installed dice player, it only show HW icon like MX Player bt actualy does not do hw decoding. U can feel the result of, video is very lagy and sound is chopy. In GB there is no issue and i often watch HD movies, I don't know why anybody feeling this basic issue. Without HW acceleration ICS there is no fun thats y i was using GB with ICS moded them
I use BSPlayer lite + BSPlayer ARMv7 VFP CPU support
Now i tried this, player is very pathetic and if i m using its hw mode of bs engine then video works else system mode does not work. Y u r using BSPlayer ARMv7 VFP CPU support while only bsplayer lite playing mkv files?
I'm running CM9 + semaphore 1.2 kernel, Moboplayer and MX player is working only in software mode, but Dice player hardware mode is working!
I use MIUI.4-SpeeD rom and no problems with live walpapesr. Default player, integrated in galery, play mp4 without problem, mkv play withoot sound, avi not play. BSPlayer play all formatss what i need. Wen using software decoding, mkv drop some frames, wen using system HW decoder, screen is OK but no sound, when using BSPlayer HW decoder screen and sound is normal.
Thanks for all gud replys, Dice player is working good. But i came to point that ICS has not built-in support for HD videos or doesn't have HW decoder. Every player is using its own decoder and produce different result. I just wana know what is technical missing in ICS comparative to GB, because GB has everything built-in(hw decoder and codes) to play every type of file?
Was interesting and i flash phone back to GB rom XXJVU. Default video player not play avi, mkv play withou sound, mp4 play good. The same results I obtained with MIUI.4-SpeeD rom withou any external player and codecs.
So, I recently purchased the Nook HD+ since it was on sale, mainly to enjoy anime and read manga. I tried using my preferred video player, Dice player on stock, and noticed that it would not use the hardware decoder. So I tried out a few other video players, and none of them could play back MKVs with the hardware decoder. Next, I decided to try out CM10.1 in hopes of it resolving this problem. Unfortunately, I got the same results. Is there no way to use hardware video decoding with this tablet? Or are there any fixes/other applications that will let me playback a 720p+ MKV?
Thanks for any help! I would really love to keep this tablet... $209 for a 32 gig tablet of this quality is a steal! But if I'm unable to playback these videos, it just lost it's main form of usage....
mx player with the arm v7neon codec works perfectly for me playing 1080p mkv videos with hw decoding on stock OS
thanks i will try

thanks i will have a try
tried to play mp4 video with MX player
HW+ / HW decode failed..... but SW decode succeeded
is nook hd+ not support HW decode ??
thanks
It does support HW and HW+ decoding, I've used it to play a number of h264 encoded videos.
Your issue may have to do with which h264 profile the video was encoded with. I know for a fact that it will fail to play 10-bit videos in HW/HW+ mode.

that's mean not support mp4 video ?
I'd also recommend installing the MX Player ARMv7 NEON codec from google play store. I'm pretty sure that that one applies to the graphics chipset in the Nook HD+. all the mp4 videos I've tried playing worked in H/W+ mode.

personally i dont care for mp4 but have tried huge 1080p mkv's and all play without a hitch (streamed from home network pc I might add)
MT8127 Seems to have capability for h265 decoding, but every h265 file I tried, HW decoding didn't work. Is there any way to get it to work?

FireOS 5.1.1.
Why? is it enabled on any other rom?
Any ideas?
Oddly I can get HW playback on sample video files without any audio in mx player but the ones with audio knock it dead.
Which files did you try? I tested the 5mb file from here both with and without audio, and mx player pro 1.8.1 reverts to SW on both.

Hang on, I meant to leave that window open in case asked, but closed it.
Hmm I do note that the page mentions x265 now though properties in mx player didn't show that, only noticed the HEVC before. So might well be my mistake there.
https://x265.com/hevc-video-files/
How did you make it play without audio as don't see any audio free files there?
I used mkvmerge to remove the audio track.
I did some testing.
Turns out it can HW decode h265 but it's buggy.
First I tried encoding to h265 with handbrake and it worked, but only in mp4/m4v. If I encoded in mkv container it fell back to SW. so that's pretty weird, container having that much impact.
After this I decided to move streams from downloaded 720p h265 mkv file to mp4 without touching the streams themselves. Extracted them with mkvextract, and put them in mp4 with mp4box. (file contained hevc video, aac audio and srt subtitles).
I tried playing it with mx player and voila, video played with HW, but now audio didn't work. I turned audio decoding to SW and that fixed it. BUT now seeking the video put decoding back to SW. I decided no big deal, and tried the same trick with 1080p hevc. but it just didn't play with HW, then I tried the previous file again and it too didn't work. And I haven't been able to play it with HW decoding since then. Not in MX and not in stock player.

That is decidedly odd.
Update from SlimLP rom.
Every 720p hevc file works with HW decoding, audio and video, regardless of container!!!
One 1080p file I tried went to SW decoding and said HW wasn't supported.
Other 1080p files loaded with HW without any warnings, audio played well but video was black. This turned out to be part of an issue of only playing a few frames than freezing at that frame, when you rewind the video you can see it more clearly.
I tried MX player 1.80 Nightly and Stock player, same results. HW+ decoding doesn't work but I think that's MX player's issue.
I think this is great news. The problems seem to be mostly software related and this gives me hope that maybe 1080p will also be fixed in the future.
