Hello,
I installed the CM build from Hashcode a few months ago. However, when trying to watch a movie (format / codec doesn't matter), the sound stops playing after around 1 or 2 minutes when using a third party player (VLC).
The pre-installed stock one works fine, any other player I tried is having these issues (and I tried a lot).
This is a little annoying as the stock player is very limited in formats. Does anyone have similar issues or a fix for this?

I noticed a very odd, and big, bug today on my Moto X. I had just got around to linking it to my cars bluetooth and noticed after I ended a call the music didn't resume. Upon opening Pandora I found the music was on fast forward and would not let me stop it. If I was to skip to another song the new song was also on fast forward. I have since tested it on another bluetooth device to rule out my cars bluetooth as the culprit, and it happened on the other device as well. I was also able to reproduce it using YouTube (so it's not a bug with Pandora). I have done a factory reset and the bug remains. I am wondering if anyone else has this or if this could possibly just be a problem with my phone?
Here is the workflow to reproduce the bug:
Connect phone to bluetooth device that supports both phone and music profiles.
Open up youtube and start watching a video (audio will play through bluetooth)
After about 15 seconds click the home button
Call someone (I called a 1-800 number)
After about 15 seconds on the phone, hang up
Now go back to youtube and press play
The video will be playing in fast forward (no audio) and there isn't a way to stop this.
Once you disconnect bluetooth you can then play the video fine
*You may have to make a phone call 2 or 3 times before this happens, but it will happen - at least on my phone.
Can others please test to see if you can reproduce it? My phone is stock and running kitkat with all apps up-to-date. I have also tested this using my Nexus 5 and it does not have this issue. I will try to record a video tomorrow to better show what is happening.
same problem
i am having the same problem, but mine doesn't appear to be connected to bluetooth just all media is fast forward with no audio.
tested so far:
1) audible
2) youtube
3) videos recorded locally stored both on SD and Local drive
4) downloaded videos
5) played on mx player pro, vlc, stock media player
I am rooted and running lollipop on my note 3 N900
Dear all,
Lately I experience a lot of crashes/problems playing video.
I'm using a s3 mini, with a quite up-to-date CM11 custom ROM. It's rooted, and in general it works rather smooth. The only thing, to maintain an acceptable battery life, I use greenify and Deep Sleep Battery Pro + some tasker stuff to finetune what I believe is necessary to run (or not) while sleeping of when display is off. (like: airplane mode at night, no wifi when I'm not at home).
My problems occur using MX Player as a video player.
(1) SHOULD H/W+ decoder work with CM11 on i8910?
Using H/W+ decoder for sure crashes MX Player from the moment it starts to play.
Using H/W decoder works when I don't touch any settings, but for sure it doesn't work all the time.
Playing video's on S/W decoder doesn't look reliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it causes major problems with video and sound not synchronized.
As I don't know for sure how it works:
(2) Is decoding done by firmware or by software I need to install myself? Are 'all' players using the same decoders?
(3) When I stream video's, it seems to work much better. Youtube or Plex, most of the time I can use it without problems. But since about a month, Plex is giving me more and more problems. Mostly video/audio not in sync / video's which just won't be played by plex. But I can't figure out if it's a Plex-related problem, a decoder-related problem or a problem with the original video-files.
Maybe logcat and MX Player-log in attachment can help.
Any advise with troubleshooting or finding a solution is welcome.
(4) Lately I read somewhere that video-crash could be an issue with CM11, which could be solved with going back to CM10.2 What do you think about that? And do you think CM10.2 can give the same overall mini-experience as CM11?
Thanks for reading and helping out.
About H/W+ decoder, it never worked for me either ok anything based on CM 11.

I have yet to find a ROM where the sound doesn't lag the video on the Netflix app. Even using the custom kernels makes no difference.
If I go back to the stock Nook HD+ ROM, there's no audio lag at all.
Really frustrating as I'd love to run a custom ROM but primarily use the Nook HD+ for surfing the web, youtube and Netflix.
All three Nook HD+ I've had have the same issue so it's not an issue with a specific device.
Any suggestions?

I have used CyanogenMod (now running 11.2 M8) for over a year with no such audio issues.
I've been running verygreen's CM 10.1 almost a year now and ran netflix a bunch
of times, with no problems.
brand new to this... just installed CM 11 latest nightly build for the first time on the Nook HD+. All seems fine, except I notice this problem too. Audio lags in Netflix. Bummer.
Well, audio can lag over cable TV as well as other stuff. If anyone could ever truly solve the problem because they can't.
Maybe background service(s) from other app(s) doing something funky as they can run during the video (for instance email can still be received during playback). You didn't say if it was a fresh new install with the least amount of installed apps possible (most controlled environment possible) . Bn rom unless rooted (I guess) wouldn't have access to all the same apps that could be installed.
There could be other differences as well that you haven't taken into account. Is the stream running at the same quality? Are all the nook apps (including internal like gapps) fully updated on the bn rom? It could be that the newer versions are more taxing on the hardware. Etc. All theoretical but what else is there with no concrete answer.

It was a fresh install. I only have a handfull of apps. All apps are current.
Since purchasing this phone I have had a problem getting sound to work while using screen mirroring. The two devices being used are the Sprint version of the 64MB Note 5, and an Amazon Fire TV stick.
Devices:
Note 5 phone is completely stock (using stock ROM)
Amazon Fire TV stick is completely stock (using stock ROM)
Note 5 has the latest available software using: Settings/System/System Update
Amazon Fire TV stick has latest available software (version 54.1.2.3_user_123067020)
Using ATT U-Verse Pace Gateway/Router for Wi-Fi network
Symptom:
When using screen mirroring, the devices pair and video is shown accurately, but sound is played severely muffled and barely audible (sounds like robots underwater, voice tone/pitch sounds very low). I paired and mirrored my old Galaxy S4 on this same Fire TV stick, and it works flawlessly with audio, though the video drops frames and seems to buffer/lag intermittently. Different video players and apps on the Note 5 phone yield the same audio problem when using mirroring.
Please offer any advice or resolution to this problem.
After doing more searching elsewhere I found a bandaid solution here:

I'm having the same problem with my Fire Stick on a Note 5. The only thing that worked for me is restarting the phone.

Restarting the phone seems to have fixed the problem. Not sure what the issue is or what causes it, but if I restart the phone it fixes itself. After contacting Amazon they couldn't provide any other info than a claim that it's a known Samsung issue and are blaming the problem on them.
I recently acquired SM-T817T T-mobile version of Galaxy S2 and noticed that some video files are stuttering while playing video. The stuttering goes away once I disable hardware acceleration. I have tried various players with no success. It happened with 720p and 1080p files. Most play fine though. Also those files SM-T817T struggle with play perfectly fine on my SM-T810. I have tried numerous players with no success. Any recommendations? Both tablets run stock FW. I rooted 817 yesterday, obviously it didn't make any difference.
Same thing with a sm-t719. Flashed lineage 16 today, and every audio - video that i play (regardless of the application) always stutter. More specificly it skips every other second of the video.
Is this a know problem or not?
