[GUIDE] Status bar customization using UOT Kitchen

Since everyone has a different taste of how the status bar should look like here is simple guide how to do it.
What you need:
1) rooted device with CWM installed (for example per Chainfire´s guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784)
2) extracted apk files "framework-res.apk", "SystemUI.apk" and twframework-res.apk (use any root explorer) located here:
framework-res.apk: system/framework
SystemUI.apk: system/app
twframework.apk: system/framework
Caution: to use it with particular ROM you need to extract these file from that particular ROM - does not (for me) work just to use core files (like for custom KKA ROM use original KKA stock ROM files)
3) go to UOT Kitchen http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/ and choose the features your status bar should include. Once your selection is done go to tab "file upload", choose on right side option "upload system files" and upload extracted file from step 2. Once they are fully uploaded, go to summary where you can check what is going to be cooked. Then just simply click"submit work to kitchen" and wait for compilation completion. Pick up your file, save it somewhere to your computer or phone. Then just use CWM to install it.
Note: I have not tried this for originally themed ROMs like ROWMO or Sheep ROM so I do not know whether it works.
Confirmed to work for Cassies ROM, MySam and stock ROMs so I guess the status bar customization should work for other (not AOSP) ROMs as well.

Just upload files as in step 2, leave other options untouched.

Thanks for the great guide. Can anyone tell me where to find the default MIUI statusbar icons? I haven't seen this in UOT Kitchen.

Unfortunately many of nice status bar icons are not "pickable" at UOT Kitchen. If there was an option to upload our own icon set it would be a good time to ask theme dev´s to post them somewhere here. But it is actually not ..... we probably need to use what is already there.

I've used this before but now I can't get it to work. I'm trying to use a boot animation and I'm setting the boot animation to Galaxy type, and the binary scripting to Galaxy. I did manage to change my status bar icons but a few of them didn't change.

In the status bar size option... What kind of size is to be selected? Because there is no option for 1200x800 pixels in the status bar size option... :O
And can you do a small tutorial on the 10 or 14 status bar toggles as there are on the samsung galaxy s2... Please if you can do this it shall be a great help!!! Thanks a lot!

How did you cure the bootloop???

BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE!!
That's how you cure bootloop. Then you just use 3-button combo to get into recovery mode and restore your backup.

This works! Finally found a way to get rid of that awful battery % mod on custom roms.

Can anyone confirm that it is impossible to make transparent the status bar on a Samsung device? I tried to cook a theme on the kitchen, but it did not work, only the entire status bar desapeared.
Any other options that you know?

Fade effect on CM 7.2 Lockscreen

Hello to everyone! I'm new in this forum. I've got a samsung galaxy 5 with cyanogenmod 7.2 and i notice that the fade effect when unlocking the screen (NOT THE TV EFFECT) is disabled in cm 7.2,while it was in cyanogemod 7.1. I posted the same post in madteam forum (search "fade effect on cm 7.2 lockscreen on MadTeam forum because i can't post outside links) but no one know how to do. Anyone can help me? Same problem on the G2/Vision.
Also, before the screen time's out, normallye the brightness smoothes a bit down. This is also gone in CM7.2.
Must be something in the framework-res package i think.
On the other side, we now got the fabulous looking ICS rotate animations!

yes,you're right! however, i tried to modify framework with olds animations *.xml files but without any result...if anyone has an idea answer me,please!

what do you mean??

The way you made your changes? just with 7zip or winrar unpack the apk en put the old animations into it, then place it back on your phone? or did you recompile the apk with a tool?

[Q] [PETITION][PORT-ROM] JELLY-BLAST FOR GALAXY ACE i, PLEASE !

Hello, first at all, thank you all developers of this device. I have a petition for you: can you port the JELLY-BLAST ROM for our galaxy ace?
Into the main thread the developer says that this rom can work in all samsungs devices (with a few modifications and other kernel). This is the link to the main thread:

Want to port this ROM to another device? Well these are some simple rules and tips to get you started:

The kernel included in this ROM is for Galaxy Y only. So, make sure that you have removed or replaced boot.img and bmlunlock from ROM before porting.
Also, change the updater script, so that it only installs the ROM, not the Kernel.
The FM rado in the ROM only works at 120 resolution. So, replace it with the fm radio apk of your device before setting the correct resolution.
Figure out other changes by yourself!

The images wouldn't look very good in our device as jelly blast comes optimized for the low resolution screen.
I'm planning on grabbing the next firmware released (probably XXLI2) and creating a nice clean ROM from scratch, theming it towards a jelly bean/jelly-blast feel. But it depends on how long it takes for samsung to release that firmware.

hello thanks !! you can try to change the phone.apk into system/apps for other thats works fine into galaxy i (for example take it of other rom, or stock rom). I'm sorry because I haven't got this device. I have request this rom for my girlfriend's device.

Take the DialerrTabActivity.apk from another rom extract it with apk manager then zip it and resign it it should work.
If you want to make the original DialerTabActivity work you should extract it and change ldpi in the directories names to mdpi.but there is a problem with the pngs they are small.
Edit:Sorry it doesn't work.

I found a problem with the menu button in Wifi settings and Messaging, when I press the menu button it forces to close.
Adb says: E/AndroidRuntime( 3780): android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: File r
es/drawable-ldpi/ic_menu_manage.png from drawable resource ID #0x20200ed
Checked in framework-res.apk but the file exists.
Any help would be appreciated
Edit: Fixed by changing the icon address from wifisettings.smali to the one in public.xml from Framework-res.apk.I have to do it also for Messaging and for apn.

I didn't add the kernel to the rom.Try to delete the files boot.img and bmlunlock and update the updater-script.

Nyc rom...

HELP needed Enable CRT-Off in deodexed Jellybean

Hello all,
Let's enable the CRT-OFF effect in stock JB deodexed.I have aleready decompiled framework UI but it s set to false config animation in bools.xml. So it remains services.jar and policybalbal .jar. to modify .I cand find the correct valuse to modify so let s get together to do this cool animaion.
Any suggestion help greatly appreciate it . I can test on my phone .

Hm, I tried today. And I didn't make it work. My back button somehow become button that locks screen. You can send me what to modify, ans where. I can decompile/compile after. This would be good learning for later modifications.

[q] touchwiz for cm10.2

Hi. I've seen galaxy s4 touchwiz modded for any android device but when I tried it, it displayed a small screen (phone size I guess). Other than that it's working well. Can anyone work on this to be compatible with p7300/7310? Thank you. I really appreciate any input in this. Below is a link for the the touchwiz S4 zip file, it could be of use somehow.

The link you're referring to is for HDPI screens, if the problem is that it is small maybe you should try the XHDPI version [if you haven't tried it already]

Yeah I've tried that already. shows this tiny screen. In the meantime I'll just use the theme, but it doesn't have the weather widget.
