After following the instructions and rooting the KFHD7 as well as installing the 2nd bootloader and TWRP, I see the blue fire and press the volume up, but instead of going to TWRP, it goes to fastboot. If I don't press the volume up, the KFHD7 boots into the rooted stock kindle image. I tried reflashing TWRP but no change in behavior. Anyone seen this and know the cause?
ok - I finally figured out that my TWRP image was bad. I redownloaded it and everything is good now. Noob lesson is to be sure and check the md5 values.
Mods - feel free to delete this or leave it for others to see if they have the same symptoms.
Big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum!
Install Quick boot and open select Recovery ,Now kfhd will boot into TWRP.

Rom manager cannot boot your device into recovery( at least not for me)
you can boot into recovery by powering off then press both: volume up and power. you will see a screen with choices you will need to choose number 2 and it should boot into recovery.
I would suggest that you start over completely which will wipe the whole system. And use a rooted stock or custom rom from this forum. There is substantial amount of information on doing this in this forum and you will have to read, research before doing anything.
You can achieve this by reading the second post in general forum and skip to post 10.

Wish you would do a search here in the forum
If you did then you'd find a custom Clockwork Mod for your Streak but you're gonna have to not be lazy and learn to flash it with fastboot commands
And.even then you can't boot directly into Clockwork Mod. You have to go through stock recovery first
You have some reading to do

Thanks Your Help Is very appreciated, I just did that and dont do nothing just reboots normally. No Stock Recovery. OR iam dong it wrong
I press Vol + and then power and goes through the dell light color ect.
Well through all the normal reboot
Here another thing that i cant used the devised because now it has bootloops, I tried SaveMode and the device runs great that way, but when i go to settings to Factory restore it reboots but then again with the bootloops.
So in another words i have to flash a recovery and another Rom or theres another easy way besides Commands?

Well I have some possibly bad news for you....
Unfortunately most that have tried to do a Factory Reset from within Android end up with their Streak 7 in what is called Read Only mode for which the only fix is sending it to Dell.
To boot recovery you have to hold BOTH the Volume + and Power buttons at the same time until its in recovery.
From stock recovery you then choose factory reset. I would recommend you do nothing more than that until you learn fastboot and adb commands. Like I told you earlier, you have a lot of reading to do

First, APX and Fastboot are two completely separate systems.
Second, Press Volume+ and Power, then chose the section option there that says "Install a package" that should take you into recovery.

Ok this what i did, I installed the drivers. and ones it installed i looked at the Device Manager and it saids ADB Thats when the Tablet its on Fastboot ( Where the Red letters and white )
Then I went to the Command Manager and This Type in "fastboot flash recovery NAME-OF-RECOVERY-IMAGE.img
And The Command Promt actually Flashes Sucessfully.
Something its wrong, or i not pressing the right buttons to getting to Recovery.
Vol + and power then The Dell Logo flashes follow by the Dell Animation With Kind Blue Flash But it goes straight to normal reboot.

For fastboot , press and HOLD (Volume Down) and (Power), press and hold till its at a black screen with red text.
Then in device manager install the Dell Streak 7 Bootloader (we call them fastboot) drivers.
Command will NOT flash, and be done
It will say something like this
"reading recovery.....OKAY
writing recovery.....OKAY
completed in xxxx seconds"

I just got an HD today, was attempting to do some dev work, renamed Launcher.apk after install Nova Prime, and now I'm stuck at the Kindle Fire splash screen. I've tried every key combination that I can think of.
Does anyone know if it's even possible to get to stock recovery? And No, ADB does not work at the splash screen but I did have it working when the tablet actually booted.
Thanks in advance

I was curious. .so I tried something.
With tablet 'booted', hold power button for 30s. Eventually, the kindle fire logo will come up. Let go of power button. Press down both volume buttons, and hold, while you press the power button and release power button. Continue holding both volume buttons during the initial startup with logo.
Doing this. .I now have 'Safe mode' printed in the bottom left screen of my kindle and it's booted into the OS. Maybe this can help you fix it.

ADB will not work in fastboot. Use fastboot commands.
A similar problem
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7" and I used firefire to get twrp and now it wont boot into recovery. I shows a yellow triangle with an explanation point asking to reboot or reset. Lastly, it underwent a ota update removing the root access and I was success getting it back with B4INRY's root. This update is probably the problem but, im unsure how to fix it because I cant flash a old ROM without recovery working.

Since you're doing dev work I'll assume you have the android SDK then. So since that parts taken care of, do you have a factory cable? That will put you into fast boot mode where you can flash a clean ROM onto your kindle.
Hi,
Everything is in the title. The instal with TWRP works well, the Finishing boot freeze and then the Fire run in boot loop.
I stricly followed the process describe and used the files proposed to download.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance

Maybe a bad download. Redownload the ROM and gapps. Longpress the poder button to power off the device. Power it on with power and volume + pressed to enter fastboot mode. Fasrboot twrp and repeat the flashing process.

I downloaded the 2 files again and tested the md5 checksum. Everything ok.
The fire stopped during the "Android is starting, Finishing boot" process and then started a loop reboot sequence again.

Using slim gapps right?
Following a YouTube video, code 4dwguHoxTvo, I think I might have bricked my tablet.
I ran the script provided at rootjunkysdl, got USB drivers working, and booted into TWRP recovery. I made a backup, but the guy in the video doesn't mention that you need pico gapps until he's already doing it. So I rebooted to copy over pico and now I'm in a reboot loop. "=> Normal boot" with the Amazon logo.
On bootup it shows up in device manager under Other as "MT65xx Preloader", then disappears when it reboots again.
If I hold power and both volume buttons I get "=> Fastboot mode..." but I don't know if I can do anything w/ that.
How did this happen if I didn't flash anything, just backed up?
kindle fire 5th gen, stuck in boot loop unless battery drained.
I am able to boot fine only if the battery becomes drained from the boot loop'ing and then i turn it back on. But after it boots fine into the fire os, if i do a reboot or power off, then power on again, it will go back into a boot loop. And, i can't even turn it off right now, it is jsut in a boot loop.
It seems strange that it still boots, but only in that condition. WHat could be wrong? if i flash a custom rom, would it fix it or what?
thanks

Your best best is to reload FireOS 5.1.2 from the stock recovery menu if you can access it. Long press power until the device shuts off. Then press and hold left volume button (one closest to head phone jack) immediately followed by power button. Hold both for 5-10 sec. If no response release both then try again. After 3-5 seconds the device should boot into recovery mode. From there you can attempt to reload FireOS 5.1.2 following the instructions in this guide/video: here.
If you can't access the recovery menu then your only other option is to request an exchange from Amazon if the device is still under warranty.
Maybe try a back to Stock.

Hold power down & Volume down (When the buttons are on top the left one)
Hold the vol down button until you are in the recovery.
use the vol buttons until you find the "apply update from ADB"
The go ahead and use "ADB Sideload ./../xxx.bin" (Drag the downloaded file (.Bin) To the Terminal/cmd)

Same guidance is provided in the previous post; please check thread before posting.
Hi. It is running FireOS 5.0.0. I didn't flash it or do anything except root it, and then this is how i bought it used from ebay.

Well, that's a different story! Devices running 5.0.0-5.0.1 can boot twrp which greatly facilitates the installation of a custom rom which should eradicate the bootloop problem. You definitely do NOT want to upgrade FireOS beyond v5.0.1 as the device will permanently loose the ability to boot twrp. Such devices are sought and pretty rare.
On the road today so can't easily find/link relevant threads. Hopefully someone else will or I will update this post later.

hi. i just now installed the CM12, I was hesitant at first and wanted to take my time because i messed up a fire about a week ago, it was another fire 5th, but it had 5.0.12, and i think it was because i updated it and it was because i connected it to wifi, unike this one i didn't connect it to the internet before rooting and installing CM
i bought that fire off ebay used for 35 or less too.
so, now my fire works fine, and i can use it for extra stuff like reading.
thanks guys.
