Anyone else got this serial number prefix? If you have please let me know the quality of finish.
Thanks!
I've got FA35MW, is has almost no problems, screen is properly seated. Not much gap issues. Power button seams good as well.

Where did you buy yours? Got mine from amazon UK. What's wrong with yours?
From similar place... screen and speaker grilles misalign - definite step between the lower grille and display, grille is slightly bowed and a gap exists which fills with dust. Large gap between top left speaker grille corner and plastic. Going back.

When did these problems come to light.... You mentioned on a previous thread that overall the phone was ok apart from one slight gap!
FWIW mine is fine

I've had my optimus black for a few hours now and i'm really liking the screen!
I bought it after being slightly disappointed with the screen and speaker on my desire S (which I still have).
I'm a bit disappointed with the plastic feeling though, and i'm getting a "grip of death" problem with 3G when holding it with my left hand (it loses 2-3 bars compared to holding it in my right hand).
Also i've just noticed a build quality issue on mine, the grill that covers the earpiece has fallen down. I can lift it back up with a pin, but it quickly falls back down again. It looks like the glue didn't work. There is also a small imperfection in the glass right underneath the earpiece. Pic is attached.
Has anybody else had any issues with the cheap build quality?

I've had no real issues with the build quality.
I do hear a very light squeaking sound when I squeeze the right side of my phone, the plastic side of the back cover.
I'm also happy to know that the LG Optimus Black also has Gorilla Glass (discussed here and listed here).
You may want to return your phone for a replacement if the grill keeps coming off.
Ouch, now I'm chicken out to buy this phone.
Iphone4like antenna problem? Bad building quality? (with the known aspect ratio issue) Eeerrrrr, I think I'll choose another one.

I have no issues so far. I hold the phone with right hand i can't replicate the issue. I'm actually quite impressed with the durability considering the plastic nature of it.
so you think it's not a general issue, with the death grip?
This is my first Android phone so i have nothing else to compare to, but it seems i don't lose any signal holding it. But i do have smallish hands so it might be just that.
So don't take my word for it
The speaker cutout is on the wrong side...muffles the sound.
It's not a bad design...just make sure the cutouts are right if you do decide on one like it...

It's this listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360-Degree-...715&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=290801662917&
Scroll down and you'll see photos of the speaker cutout. Note that on the N7, the headphone jack and speaker are on the same side (bottom or top depending on how you use it).
I like the design for holding the lip of the tablet...lets you see the entire edge. It's just that this reseller seems to be selling factory rejects w/ the speaker cutout on the wrong side...

It's actually not a design fault or a factory reject, the cutout is for the topleft microfon , not for the headphone jack.
An the jack is accessible with ease.
I have a case like this and i love it. The sound is muffled only a bit (half of the speakers is covered), but there is enough gap between between the cut and the rest .
well i don't see any design flaw since i got a similar one
the price is a bit on the high side though, i paid about 6 bucks shipped for mine
The bottom of the screen where it meets the speaker's aluminium panel is flush with the aluminium.
The top is not.
It's barely noticeable unless you rub your fingers over the top of the glass.
.1 of a mm or so but it's not flush like the bottom is.

No, he isn't.
Mine has it too - glass is raised at the top so it's not flush where the top speaker grill meets the screen on mine. Went to a couple stores and the ones I saw had this too - sometimes in the same place, sometimes not.
Perhaps it's a manufacturing limitation

i think its the overhang thing
do u mean , the glass is higher than the speaker grille?
Is it the screen that is not flush, or is it that the speaker grille is fitted too low at the top? Which is to say, is the screen flush all the way along the sides of the device?
edit: shiningarmor beat me to it
The overhang on the unibody is a problem I think some people are having but not with mine. I think that's a separate issue but don't quote me on that..
If The Op has what I have then basically the issue is if you feel along the line where the speaker plates (either the top one, the bottom one, or both if you're REALLY unlucky) meet the glass you cann feel the glass is raised (on mine it's the top right corner) to the extent that you can basically feel the edge of the glass. I've seen this on some store models - sometimes it's like this and sometimes it's the exact opposite - I.e. the glass feels like its set too low and the speaker grill can be felt when you slide your finger from screen to grill.
So yeh basically issues with how flush the glass and metal are when they meet. This seems to only (from what I've seen) occur at the speaker grills, all seems fine on the sides of the phone

I have 2 theories:
1)Maybe because of the pyramid stacking of screen-battery-pcb?
Do you have a problem if you dismantle your device?
Aha, someone already did it:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494/1
2)Or could it be that the top speaker grill is not flush with the glass?
What do you guys think?

Then the screen isn't misaligned - the speaker grille is, surely? And, if so, it IS the same problem as the overhang thing, just on a different axis. And likely, this is the same cause of the "tiny gap" - misaligned/poorly fitted speaker-grille.
Of course, it doesn't matter to you because you have a flawed device, but for the rest of us, it is interesting to note that all reported build issues could be traced back to that single point of error.

Yeah you might be right I guess, with the overhang thing though I think some people were describing a phenomena on the side of the handset concerning the bits of plastic - maybe I'm just confused lol!
I'm sending my phone back anyway because I have a screwed up vibrate motor but I'm also for obvious reasons happy at maybe getting another 'shot' at a handset that has a better placed speaker plate/flusher phone.
None of this has dented my enthusiasm though for the One. Wonderful handset.

Your choice. The screen is 0.1mm higher than the grille. The grille is 0.1mm lower than the screen.

Old lady passenger: Nervous?

I got same on my handset. No gaps or anything else wrong with it.
In order to make sure I get a problem free handset I would need to wait until next month for new batch but phones4u only give me 28 days to swap in store.

I've also got this fault. Doesn't bother me as long as the exposed corners don't shard.
This is with the HT33J batch. Would be interested to see a poll of owners that do/don't have this issue with the batch #.t

The same here top and bottom but other wise perfect - probably gonna keep the phone as not to bothered.
I personally think that this is caused by speaker covers not being placed properly

My screen sits lower than the speakers, then once screen protector is on it's all flush. Maybe it's for that reason.

Can someone please tell me if the front camera is completely flush with the rest of the screen or if it set below the surface ? Mine is a little below the surface like I'm missing something or it fell off.
Mine is slightly below the surface, about the depth of the thickness of the plastic speaker grill.
Mine is a inset a little, seems normal. The right side of my bottom speaker grill cover is slightly raised though

The right part of the bottom speaker cover is also raised on my phone.
After I put on a screen protector I don't even notice it. I thought about exchanging it, but I assume that the one I get will be the same
Ya I noticed the right side of mine also has a very slight raise to it if u slide your finger across u can feel it but it is not noticeable at all.
I would just like a consensus of how many folks have Sprint HTC M8 where the speaker grill holes don't line up on the top and bottom speakers (on the right side) I called HTC and they said this was normal. While it may be nit picking, I don't expect this on such a high end phone.
the top is shorter because of the camera. the camera lines up with the rest of the grill on the bottom
This is normal for many phones. Both the Nexus 5 and the iPhone 5s have a consistent misaligned speakers throughout the line of their products
But yes, both of the speakers are offset to the left on my HTC One m8 as well
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The actual speakers aren't all across on the bottom or top, they're both on the left side.

I have a different issue with the speaker grilles. I returned my first M8 because the metal(?) plate on the bottom was raised on the right side where it meets the screen, instead of being flush like it's supposed to be. The new unit I got is perfect at the bottom, but now the upper grille is very slightly raised where it meets the screen on the right side (to the right of the camera). I can push it down, but it comes back up after a few minutes (like there's some kind of adhesive that doesn't hold it down properly)... Minor, but very irritating! Anyone else have problems with the speaker cover plates not being flush with the screen?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I recently bought a used m8 ATT off someone and converted it to the GPE. And now I've noticed that this phone has the metal on the top raising above the screen (right side around the camera). I can push it down but it comes back up after a while.
I contacted HTC and they said that the phone is under warranty but I would have to send it in for diagnostic to see if it qualifies for a warranty repair or they would quote me how much it would be to fix.
I unlocked the bootloader on HTC's website which I'm pretty sure voided the warranty and they will be able to tell no matter what I do. So does anyone know how to fix this annoying issue? DIY style that is

Yes, I fixed mine by just lifting up the grille (it's actually plastic and just held on by adhesive) and applying some new adhesive to the back of the grille. I wouldn't use super-glue, but something a little thicker/gooier to fill the gap. Maybe a dab of silicone (I used something silly... "liquid skin" from the first aid cabinet. It worked, but I wouldn't recommend it because it slightly discolored the coating on the back of the grille!). Good luck!
You can also find replacement grilles online that will have fresh adhesive, but you have to do some searching and I think they come from China, so you'd have to wait a while for shipping.

Was yours only raising up on the right corner? If so was it hard taking the whole cover off without messing it up?

Yes, it was only raising on the right corner. I didn't try to remove it completely, as I just wanted that side to stay down. Just use something to apply adhesive carefully to the back of the grille (it's flexible plastic), then stick it back down (and apply pressure until it dries).
