He will only get the OTA update for 1.29.401.16. He actually won't get the RUU for it.

Also why go through all that troiuble when you can S-OFF using revone? Unless you haven't been successful using revone.

I love how "warranty" has now become a verb
No, it will say "RELOCKED" instead of "LOCKED". You need to S-OFF to remove the "RELOCKED" and change it back to "LOCKED". Search it up here.
BTW, dont post questions in the development section. Q&A buddy.

New to the S-off stuff

I just bought a HTC One with T-Mobile on 4.1.2. it's used and is rooted with TWRP. I've learned that the s-on is on but i need it off. I"m kind of rusty to this considering i rooted my HTC Inspire years ago. I attemped to use revone, moonshine, and rumrunner with no luck. Any suggestions?
If your phone is a T-Mobile phone, you can ask for help in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-tmobile/help
Also, be warned that if the phone was at one point S-Off, it may now be impossible to get S-Off again.

Could you please verify that? I had to go back to S-ON to give the phone for repairing the purple tint issue with the camera. Once I get the phone back, I will definitely want to S-OFF again.
Thanks

Careful buddy, you have a Sprint/CDMA phone (but with a strange CID), most of us here have m7_u / ul models (GSM) not m7_wls (sprint / cdma).
Better check http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one or http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one
and post your getvar wherever you post (copy/paste is preferred over a screenshot, it's more visible), because your modelid and cid are quite unique

What is the issue with your phone? It is not booting? Or you just want to remove the tampered and security banner?

Afaik, there is no stock rom/guru reset rom, no RUU and no nandroid backup available for your phone CID. So I highly doubt it will be possible to revert it back to stock atm. Maybe you should consider flashing a custom rom for wls variant.

you should be fine using a sprint rom (wls rom)
You might have to edit the andoid-info.txt to include your cid
Give it a try.
Your HBOOT says "RELOCKED", does that mean you tried to relock your bootloader with the unlock code from htcdev? If you did then you should try to unlock your bootloader using the same procedure and flash a custom recovery. With that you can flash a custom rom. You may have better luck finding the right rom for M7_WLS at the Sprint HTC One forums.

install android 4.4 kitkat on hboot 1.61 s-on

If I don't unlock with sunshine, what are my options? I tried flashing the boot image with fastboot before running the google play rom zip on twrp. That boot looped the phone for awhile before I was able to recover.
I have lollipop 5.0.2, rooted, unlocked, s-on.
you can follow @alray's guide on how to "downgrade" with S-on here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59436794&postcount=2 . its quite confusing though. After that just flash a custom recovery and flash your desired kitkat rom

Just to avoid confusion or even a bricked phone - you can't downgrade that far with @alray's tutorial. That is ment only for firmwares with the same hboot, and KK firmware has a different hboot.
dey tuuk ur juurbs
^^exactly, you can downgrade versions as long as the hboot of the version you want to downgrade to is the same version of your actual hboot. Kit Kat is 1.57 and Lollipop is 1.61 so this method won't work.

Restoring to Stock M7 Sprint

I am running VipereOne Rom and now I want to return to Stock Rom, my phone is sim unlocked and S On, please give me some guide I tried searching but they require S Off
Thanks
Nothing (except trying to RUU backwards) requires s-off.
RUU is the easiest way to return to stock.

Would an ruu help rid any remnants of the previous owner? I can't put an sim card in and have it work. Unless it's a sprint one. Maybe an ruu will help rid stuff...l found a user name in about phone.

An RUU will wipe the device and when done your phone should be like it just came from the factory.

AFAIK you cannot use a Sprint device on another domestic carrier.
