HTC One Dead no responsivness at all - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Community,
I have a little problem with my new HTC One...
So i write it in a list what i did:
-Plug it to a never used USB Front Port from my PC (<Selfbuild)
-Phone Vibrates like hell is exploding
-Phone shuts down and is hot like hell (50°C or 60 i think)
-Rebooting doesnt works
-Charging battery doesnt works (Used other working and AC Charger)
-If i put into that same port again it gets hot
I think the Phone is still working but it needs hardware reset like putting a needle in a hole or smth like that
Maybe you could help me out with that
It is possible that i put the cables wrong on my mainboard of PC but i dont know
greets to all,
RainbowSix

Get a voltmeter on that usb port. Sounds like you fried it but we can't be sure.
Is the phone giving you any sign of life aka led charging light or screen on?
Sent from my Tricked out HTC One

No sign of life...
Looks like im gonna send it in.

Sounds like you cooked it. I'd be avoiding that USB port with anything you have.
Like said get a voltmeter onto it.

Ouch... Same thing happened to my buddy with a self built computer as well.
Only the computer also crapped itself also.

So there is no chance to repair it myself?

Ok guys they repaired it by switching the Mainboard and i got a new IMEI so if you need to get a new IMEI fry your Phone

Yea your usb cooked it..don't tell HTC that just say it shut off while charging

Extreme battery drain

Hey guys,
I connected my phone to my PC over night for charging as always but when I got up and took my phone it only had 4% battery! It's like the battery just wiped itself from a moment to the other. And now when I try to charge it again the light shows it charges but when I turn on my phone after 30min the battery didn't charge at all... Did anyone experience this before? Do I have to buy a new battery?
Sounds like your battery is shot. So you may need a different battery.
Try different cables etc but if that doesn't work you need a New battery.

Tried a few cables. Weird thing though: In recovery it says 32% and when I boot it up now it says 9% but doesn't really change. Seems like the battery is screwed up... Could it be that the Desire HD has got the exact same battery? Because if it's so I could try with the battery from my dad's DHD...
EDIT: Ok, it's not the same This is gonna be expensive...
EDIT2: So I got my new battery but the phone still drains too fast imo and I can't really charge the battery to 100%... Is sth wrong with the USB-port??

This might help.
Let your battery drain completely and let your cell get switched off.
And then in switched off state, charge your phone completely.
Switch it on...Use your cell as you do it regularly.
Repeat this procedure 3-4 times.
You will be surely benefitted.
did you try plugging into the wall? different USB port?
I had similar issue awhile back that it didn't want to charge with USB but with the AC adapter it worked fine. Also noticed it wouldn't work with USB at all I sent it in for repair and it was apparently USB port broken. Then I had to send it in again because when they fixed usb they broke mainboard
p.s omg I hate captcha tried posting this 10 times ...
Looks like I forgot to post So here is what happened: I got a new battery but even that I couldn't charge with USB. Than I pulled out my AC adapter and it works fine now. Looks like my USB Port is shot but since it still works and just won't charge my phone, I'll ignore that. But my old battery was surely shot because I couldn't even charge it with AC adapter...
Sorry if this seems a little late. It could be the roms fault you are getting strange readings. When I use ice cold and reboot my phone, the battery percentage reading changes like crazy. Sometimes the reboot makes the reading go up, and sometimes down.
USB port breaking is a common fault on inc s, though, so it could be that also, as you have said.
I tried ar least 5 different ROMs so I'm pretty sure that's not it That was also the first thing that came into my mind;D
Have u checked the charger plug cos if its that stupid black charger that comes with the phone they can play up my old one does this and I have to twist it slightly for the pins to touch try a apple charger or another USB charger

[Q] Hard freeze overnight

Hi,
My IncS has started playing up over the past week or so.
Every night now, when I get up in the morning I have to remove the battery from the phone and power it back up as it has totally frozen.
Another weird thing is the battery is normally really drained once I have it powered back up. Doesn't have any problems during the day at all, never freezes or anything but overnight when it is plugged in to charge,it dies.
I've tried replacing the battery (I had a spare) as it only happens when mains charging and, like I said, when it is turned back on the battery is substantially lower then when it was plugged in but that didn't help.
I tried totally wiping the phone and installing a new ROM (szeszo's lovely new cyanogen with his Tesco kernal) and it is still happening...
Anyone else experienced this? Any idea what's caused it? And finally, does anyone know a way I can do so kind of logs about what is going on?
Thanks...
I had the same issue too. Was USB connector related. Had to sent my device to htc repair

Interesting! Maybe I'll have it apart and resolder the connections... see if that helps. Thanks for the info

Try a different USB cable on the charger
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately it didn't turn out to be the USB port or cable. Thanks for the suggestions though.
It started freezing when it wasn't plugged in at all and it was doing my nut in...
Yesterday I bought a Note 2 and it gets delivered today. I know, it's huge and I'll probably end up selling it on when I get fed up of having to carry it round in a wheel barrow
It is such a damn shame to be putting the IncS to sleep at last. It's been a damn good phone for a long time (probably the longest I've ever used 1 phone for!). Somehow I can't imaging the Note being as well made as this was. The moment HTC do a Nexus phone I'll be selling whatever I have and buying up cos that will be awesome.
Anyway, guess I'll be off to the Note forums now.
Later guys, and thanks...

[SOLVED] Desire C - no LED, screen lights up (slightly), but no boot

OK, maybe someone out there can help me - I've been googling and reading XDA for answers, but not really found anything.
My GF's daughter has a Desire C, and dropped it off this morning reporting the following;
It started playing music without anyone doing anything this morning, and the screen wouldn't turn on. The only way they could get it to stop was pulling the battery.
Replaced the battery and the phone wouldn't start.
I read up a bit and left the phone on charge (no LEDs showing) for 2 1/2 hours. Came back, still couldn't boot.
I took the mains charger out and plugged it into my PC USB and tried volume down + power - still no boot, BUT, the screen did lighten slightly...
So, I WAS thinking the phone was bricked, then, as I was typing this and retried the plug into PC bit - the phone has booted
I was going to delete the post, but decided it may be of use to someone, so I added 'solved' to the title.
In a nutshell: if you have this issue, be patient - it might not be the end of the world (or phone!)
Any idea what the problem was?

I'm thinking the battery is getting to the end of it's life - it's gone again, so I've left it on AC charge until a friend gets around with another Desire C so I can check with his battery.
Hmm... How old was the battery?
Sent from my HTC Desire C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Now it seems to be REALLY fixed...
Battery age? no idea, it was a secondhand phone.
Look at the picture though - I've circled the relevant area.
It seems the battery cover has a 'tag' which fits into this and makes contact with a thin metal strip which enable the power button - well, in my case, pushing a plastic stick in there made the power button go on and off anyway.
Looking at the rear cover, the tag seems a little worn, so I trimmed that off with a sharp knife (without cutting myself either!), and trimmed a small piece of old credit card folded over to fit the hole.
And it works - power on, power off.
The battery is reporting to be full so no LED still (does the LED come on when it has full power? I've not noticed), I'll drain it a bit and try plugging it in to see if the LED comes on.
When my pal gets around with the other Desire C, I'll try his rear cover in this phone and see if it was just down to a small worn piece of plastic...
Been an interesting day for me - just hope this 'adventure' will be of help to someone else - I was thinking mainboard/battery problem and it turned out to be a 2.5mm x 1mm piece of plastic...
Just checked mine and you are right. Good to know. Thanks.

Hmmm. I was asking so we could get to the root of the problem so maybe it could help someone else with the same problem...

As far as I've seen there's no LED implementation, seeing as the screen never goes off whilst on charge if powered up or not

[Q] Is my Xperia Z dead?

I know there's many threads on the sleep of death and red led of death etc but just wanted to confirm what has happened to mine. The phone started getting very hot with rapid battery level drops. Also, if I turned it off and back on, the battery level would go from like 80% to 20%. The next day, I tried to turn it on and nothing hapened. I've tried charging it for a good 16 hours, tried volume up, volume down, Sony repair, flash mode with flashtool, nothing. The led lights solid red when plugged in and goes straight out when unplugged. Is there anything else I can try or is it well and truly bricked? The phone is unlocked and was running cyanogen mod 10.2 for a couple of months without any trouble....
Based on the symptoms you have provided, it seems to a hardware issue,
I suspect primary the Battery is draining out the juice and taking hours to charge.
secondly it could be a Motherboard failure.
If you goto sony service center and if they identify the problem with the motherboard then they will charge you 50% of the value of the phone and you will get a replacement handset (same color) .
The problem I have is I've already sent my phone to Sony under warranty for a different fault but had it returned unrepaired due to the fact there was evidence I had rooted the phone, therefore my warranty will now be invalidated. Since then I've also unlocked the bootloader so I don't expect any assistance from Sony.
Is there anything I can do myself - would replacing the battery help? How easy is this? I have no problem removing the back panel (I did it before when Sony refused to repair it).
Thanks.

One solution can be that you clean with something the micro usb slot, but with something dry and the charger and usb cabel too
Can anyone confirm if changing the battery is likely to sort my problem as I don't see what other option I have?

Reboot your phone.
If it is still not work, replace the battery.
If it is still not work, then it is the motherboard problem. It hard to repair by yourself.
Try a charging dock, the phone boots the kernel to allow the phone to charge via USB if battery is to low this won't happen, with a dock it is direct tappings to the battery to allow it to charge

Turns out the battery was the problem, I connected a new battery (with the old one still in position) and it fired up first time. However, the old battery was stuck in really well and took some force to remove - when I fitted the new one, the phone turns on but the screen has loads of thin lines in both directions and is totally unreadable. I thought maybe I'd damaged something when removing the old battery, but I can't see any damage the ribbon cables or anything else. Anything I can check or is the screen knackered now? I've pretty much had it with this phone now!

I got that wrong, it wasn't the battery, the new one is now doing the same as the old one. I'll buy a new motherboard and hope that sorts both the power fault and screen fault.

HTC One almost caught fire

Ok so im using the latest Viper rom Viper 6.1.0
Plugged my charger in sunday night, and the Usb connection started to smoke all in about 10 seconds of being plugged in.
Now my problem is, my phone still works, and charges if its turned off, but not when its on. I cant connect the phone to the computer via usb as its not reconignse the phone.
I want to send it off for repair, but know my warranty is void, as im running custom rom. I cant drag my photos and other info music etc off the phone, as I cant connect to the computer.
I was wondering about bricking my phone, so that the repairs cant turn it on, but I cant get anything on the phone because of the computer connection problem.
Anyone suggest anything I could try
Thanks Steve

Im debating what to do know. As the phone appears to be charging and connecting to the computer using a different lead. So I wonder if it was the lead damaged that's causing a problem. Although it was the end of the charger more than the phone that got hot.
Think I may have to run with it a day or so, see if things carry on working.
Thanks for the help.

You had better luck than me. I had something similar and it completely cooked the port. I couldn't charge it at all or connect to pc. So warranty was denied due to all the mods and I have to pay

Normally yes. But this time I used my wife's HTC One M8 charger. It has a slightly higher output. So I am wondering if this was the problem. Think ive been lucky, the phone seems to be working fine now.
God knows what would of happened if I had plugged it in, and left it.
