While i was mowing today i had my phone in my pocket and my headphones in my ears. all was well. occasionally the music would cut out and i would hear a ringing, pull the phone out and i see that im calling someone. I figured something must have got pressed idk just a weird thing right well it kept happening about every 5-10 mins. again i thought it was because i was moving around a lot. but it just did it to me while browsing the internet for no reason. starting making a call. any ideas on what could be going on? im on viper rom BT double u
edit - yes i tried different headphones same thing. its hard to get it to do it again its very random

My phone has turned against me now..
It has absolutely no sound at all. I've tried calling it, calling from it, playing music and so on. There's no dial-tone or anything. I really don't understand sh** right now. It worked perfectly just a couple of hours ago. (I haven't played any loud music or anything like that).
I tried installing a new ROM to see if that worked, but no. Still nothing.
Help please..
plug in your headphones and out a few times. See if that helps.
it happened to mine and the X1 thinks the headphones are plugged in. once you do this it will be fine.
hopefully
It worked! Thanks bud.
I didn't see the headphone-sign at the top of the screen before you mentioned it, haha.
I've been searching for nearly an hour and have yet to see any of the problems I've been having. I may have overlooked them, and I'm not about to go digging within the 200+ replies on some threads, so I'll ask here.
When I'm in a voice call the phone makes the "beep beep" noise like I have a call waiting. It's not and it isn't a text/email or anything. It's an annoying beep that won't stop for anything. It happens about every 10-15 seconds throughout the entire call.
Second, my headphones jack isn't working. It was prior to 2.2, but it isn't now.
Does anyone have any info on these issues?
Not here, sorry.
And to be honest, I haven't even heard of any of the issues that you're experiencing.

try one of two things, removing the battery while its happening or do a factory reset, one of those should fix your problem.
Hi Forum,
I orginally posted this topic on the man Q and A board but it was buried quickly with no response. Perhaps this is a better venue to ask.
My phone is roughly a year old, and today I ran into a weird and potentially phone killing problem
I received a few phone calls from my girlfriend today, the ringer rang loud and clear, but I heard no sound from my ear piece. After a few "Hello?"s, I hung up thinking it was a bad connection. Upon seeing my girlfriend afterwards, she said she heard me on my end. So I got her to call me again and I tried to use speaker phone, and I could hear her fine.
Doing some research on google, I only ran across one other person who had this problem, and upon seeing this, I tested my music player, (as theirs didn't work), and mine doesn't work either
This other person said the problem resolved itself a day later.
In short, my ear piece has no sound during a phone call and my media sound doesn't work (though it works w/ headphones.) My notification sounds and speaker phone DO work, as well as my alarms
Do the notification and speaker phone speakers come from a different place than media and ear piece speakers?
Do I have a software issue? I tried the "push the speaker down" solution but to no avail
Should I wait like the other person?
Any suggestions?
Thanks forum!

I had nearly the same issue, except mine got to the point where the speaker phone didn't work either. Music played fine, phone calls stopped working. I went through a lengthy process of accidently deleting everything I had on my phone, which lead me to buy a USB Jig, install the stock ROM and it worked perfectly. I would suggest trying this before you try and physical fixes on your phone.
Thanks for the suggestion SGT_Watkins
I am an absolute noob when it comes to this stuff. So it took me a while to even figure out what you were saying
BUT, after a whole night of reading and flashing it WAS FIXED!!!
I am quite tempted to phone Samsung and give them a piece of my mind after they told me some hardware was defective even though they clearly weren't listening to what the problem was
Thank you again!
How did you solve this?
I have the EXACT same problem on my Galaxy Nexus. I've wiped it, tried different ROMs, kernels... Nothing solves it! It's like there's a persistent software problem that survives flashing and even battery pulls.
My phone had this same issue not long ago. It was after I had used some headphones for about an hour. I work in a paper converting factory, so I assume some dust was packed in the headphone jack and made the phone think something was plugged into it. I turned my phone upside down and used a paper clip to scrape it all out (compressed air may have been safer). After a few tries, all sounds were working properly again.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA
Anyone ever had this happen? Not sure where to put this. I've had the HTC One M8 on Sprint almost since it came out. Shortly after I put on ViperOneM8.
My phone started playing a sound I've never heard before. I was in my car and by the time I got my phone out of my pocket the sound was gone. The screen was off. What's interesting is I have Do Not Disturb mode on for the past few weeks and the phone is quiet the whole day except for that sound (and obviously except on break when I am playing a game).
A day later I was coming back from lunch and I heard the sound again. It was so quick I only had time to pick up my phone. By that time it stopped already.
Happened again this morning. I am noticing the noise comes when I pull into my parking spot at work.
It sounds like music if you were at a Japanese garden. Calm, peaceful, slow.
I don't change any of my settings and the few apps and games I have installed are from the Play Store, except TWRP I think.
Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this. For me, specifically when playing Dissidia FF: Opera Omnia and one other game that I tried once but can't recall... When playing, sometimes the bottom speaker will not play sound at all or sound will play in "crackles" (as in, the game sound plays in crackle-length spurts). I can't find any particular cause for it, and messing with settings has done nothing.
Doesn't happen to me with watching videos, listening to music, or playing other games. But I'm wondering if it's somehow still something on my end, or if other people have experienced this. It doesn't happen constantly (sometimes the sound is just fine), but I'd say... Maybe 60% of my time spent playing, this issue occurs.
This is indeed a known software issue on MR2 seemingly to do with low volume. Does briefly increasing and decreasing the volume make the problem go away for a while?
Hmm... Initially I had thought I tried that thoroughly enough. But I figured out a way to make the issue more repeatable, and I tried turning up the volume well past the halfway point (which is usually overkill on this phone... lol). Turns out the sound does indeed kick back in when the volume is put above halfway or so. Sorry, I didn't realize it had to go that high to realize what's going on.
It's still weird that it only seems to happen in this one game I play (and that one other random one). All my other games, music, and videos have no issues. Well, here's hoping they eventually fix it... lol.

I had the same issue playing Clash Royale and Final Fantasy 7. Like you, turning it up to about 60% "fixed" the crackling. But it would return again eventually when I turned the volume back down. I ended up returning the phone because the Microsoft Store is an amazing place with 30 day returns. I love the phone so it sucks, but that issue is a real deal breaker. Once they get it fixed I'll look into getting another. On a side note; I did contact Razer support through twitter and they were going to send me an RMA. Had to go through the whole song and dance of "Did you try a hard reboot" and "Did you do a factory reset". If you decide to do an RMA and they say no let me know.
