[Q] Is there CRT effect for S3 mini? - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone i just wanted to know if there is someway to get CRT effect on our device with the physical button 'cause i've been trying to and I can't find it anywhere, there is an app in the google market but it isn't useful for the physical button, any help or tips would be really apreciated.

Use at own risk:

Thanks a lot buddy i'll try it at my own risk xD

In maclaw's CM10.1

If you'll decompile the file you will see that this bool variable it's already to false.. so it is no use for now, but I'll search another way.

Posible.
There are 2-3 tutorials in the forum. Even a pair or ROM's with it. Check it.

I was considering in flashing that rom, thanks.

Long-press back key to force quit

Hey guys!
I recently began to use Roms which is based on stock again, and one of the feautures i miss the most from cm7/miui is the ability to force-close an app with a long press on the back key.
Does anyone know of a MOD or something that can enable this feature on stock roms?
Or can point me in the right direction or something?
Would be awesome to have it on stock roms!!

FC appears when an app is stucked, at least this is happening to me. If I keep pressed back button, it will display a dialog.

On stock roms you can view the running programs through the inbuilt program monitor and close them .

Yes, but this isn't the same, nor as easy.
I'd hope for this feature too, as I'm about to go from a Droid 2 with CM7 to a Droid 4 ... root will give me most of the things I want, except this.
In galaxy s2 you can use jk deluxe settings (search it) to use this function on stock (need root) rom
Settings>Developer options
First activate them at the top, then head to the bottom of the list, the entry furthest down is the one you want.
This should work for any ROM with dev options available, which frankly I think is everyone...

Its a ROM specific function and as far as I know there is not any mods available sadly

1)For flashing a new kernel you need to be rooted.
2)battery drain depends on apps you use and also your screen brightness, bluetooth, gps, data etc
3)try to find out if you are having wakelocks or some fault woth battery
4)try reading about some battery saving tips.
5)get an extended aftermarket battery of need be.
6)have a nice day
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Download betterbatterystats from this forum and see if you have a wakelock issue. If you don't then you've got a dud battery, it should perform much better than that.

How dare you? Xda is the king! You've made 5 posts, mate, a forum needs to be used to get the most out of it.

dude you shouldn't be writing here if you think that. go to your favorite forums.
cuteabuser - dont listen to Bozo The Clown calvincharles. Everything you need to know is on this forum. Use the search button in the Note Forum and search for battery. You should get a bunch of stuff that comes up. Turn off stuff you dont use especially sync stuff. If you are techy enough once you get into it then you can mess with stuff like Tasker. I use Tasker to turn on GPS when I open the apps that use GPS. I set times for my bluetooth to turn on before work and after work etc when I am driving. This is all so I dont have these things running all the time. I learned all this stuff from here.
When I first got my Note it immediately asked for update so I did. It was getting horrible battery life after that and I didnt even use it before the update. I ended up rooting and custom romming this bad boy and turned all kinds of crap I dont use off. Now I get all day unless I have my screen on. Then its only maybe 3 hours of constant on.
Good luck and read read read...its what I did.
Read the stickies on this forum. They should help.

First and foremost, before you try anything, like wipes or formats, I would advise you to download and flashthis kernel based on the current firmware you have. It is a stock safe ICS kernel, because stock Samsung ICS kernels are very much unsafe to wipe or format from. It will give you root however, so if you don't want root, then you can just use the supersu app that gets installed to make a permanent unroot. But atleast you'll be on a safe kernel, and you won't have to worry about any bricks. Then download betterbatterystats as mentioned above and use this thread to determine any wakelocks or battery munchers. If the need be comes that you need to send it to Samsung for any reason, there is another kernel thread in the original development section that gives you all stock ICS kernels you can flash.
And go through the forum, and read all the stickies. They answer all questions.

[Q] Red line spell check missing in JB official

Ive been running some cm based roms for a while now and a feature i really loved was the red line under miss spelled words. (Kinda like what ms word does) but with newest release of touchwiz JB this feature is not supported. I dont care much for auto correct on the fly. But i love being able 2 scan over text before i click send.
I remember in one of my PA roms i had 2 do something 2 enable the red line spell checking. But i cant remember what. Or find it for that matter. Cos its been included in all the roms ive flashed since. I saw the guys over at note2 forums managed 2 get it working. But they said its device specific.
Please dont advice on downloading different keyboards or enabling autobcorrect and all of that. I specifically want 2 use the red line feature ontop of my new (and super stable! Jb touchwiz official. Else i fear im going 2 have 2 go back 2 PA with all its force closes and screen wake locks. Brilliant rom. But i want a bit of stability for a while
Where you get that red line spelling check?
I would like that on my words document tools.

[REQ] Solution for voip upside down front camera

Hello
Can any of you good devs provide a fix for the upside down front camera on voip apps? In the past it was working correctly for me but at some point it turned upside down (i think it was a kernel change OR a skype update). Since then i have trid the following WITHOUT any luck:
-Horizontal calibration
-Enabling screen orientation and trying in landscape mode
-an older version of Skype app
-Different Kernels (3.0 and 3.4)
-Different ROMs (CM9, CM10 and CM10.1) format everything from system to sd-ext in between
front camera is still upside down! i am at a loss here...please help!
ps : In the camera app front cam works just fine

Exact same thing here, all CM10 ROMs are having this issue.
I have it in GoogleTalk, so a pretty built in application.
Tried these steps, still upside down front camera. Calibration does not show any indication, just sais lay on plane surface, push button. Shouldnt there appear a orientation point in the cross?
I only know that problem from older Windows programs, with the webcam.
There are two ways to fix this problem.
1. Fix it in system
2. Fix it in the app
First of all, the camera needs to run at all, so guess there is many work done, that the camera is running at all.
Then, it may depend on the devs way to fix things, normaly it should be fixed EVERYTHING in system, because fixing every app that might be installed, no way
So there must be some reason, that the devs choosed to let the upside down in VoIP apps be there, because the rest works, in camera apps orientation is fine. Maybe they just dont got the right line, to just change VoIP apps orientation.
So, maybe this will last for a long time though, till Samsung releases new drivers for 4.1.x haha Till then, devs must use what they got, guess they have the best working things found already...

laggy jellybean 4.1.2

hi,i've always been a fan of the optimus 4x hd and finally bought one a week ago. was too excited to update to jellybean that i ignored all the problems i heard about and now i can't live with the problems in this update.
i read about a lot of problems with the update but after using it for a week(heavy user) ,the only problems i see are the lag and the slow charging.
i could've lived with anything but this lag is too much to take in. it gets so painfully slow sometimes. i mean,it's a quad core beast for crying out loud!
what is the best way to fix this?
should i go back to ICS?
should i root and install a custom rom??
any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Install custom kernel and wipe all. There should be no laggs. Or flash custom rom and kernel or roll back to ics.
There is already an jelly bean lagg thread. Why not use search function ?

Yes, they require rooting, unlocking the bootloader etc. Please, please start using the search function.
If your phone is expensive and you can't afford to risk it then you shouldn't ever be messing around with it as there is always a risk in anything.

To reduce the lags,
Type 3845#*880# on the dial pad and enter the hidden menu.
Scroll down, select MLT, uncheck the box at the bottom and restart your phone.
For fast charging, enter the hidden menu, select Module test/Charging test. Check the box at the top, replug your charger and voila!

No you don't have to do that. MLT has nothing useful for the end user.
Backup your data and try factory reset for the lagging problem.
Sorry but these are the only two solutions i know.
If you decide to root your phone one day, you may try LGP880 Booster for better gaming experience and fast charging. Search the forum for the download link.

It's not about being stupid. The very first rule of XDA is to always search before asking any question.
I wasn't being rude or condescending, just honest about the risk to your phone if you can't afford to take that chance.
Maybe you should consider winding your neck in a little bit, you're new on here and need to learn the rules before you go mouthing off at people who have been here a while and take a lot of time to help people on the forums.

Try them out and judge for yourself. "Best ROM", "Best Kernel" etc threads are not allowed on XDA as you will get as many different opinions as people who reply, and they tend to lead to arguments.
