once i got my phone, i didn't know that i had to backup TA partition in order to relock bootloader, and i unlocked my phone...
now i just wonder if i could relock bootloader anyway, though i know it seems like a bit impossible...
Yes, just search for the relock bootloader thread in the development section and flash the ftf.
You can also find it by reading the first 3 posts in the all in one section (Where this question is answered as well)
Or by using the search button in the top right of the webpage

I'm not THAT noob, but the search mechanism here is somehow weird for me
i can't get used to it
thanks a million for your consideration, just another question, it would be highly appreciated if you care about answering :*
1) is that ftf just for Xperia T or it will work flawlessly on TX as well? since i own TX
2)will it bring Bravia Engine back to the gallery?
donno how to thank you, but to press that little shiny button
tnx dude <3
EDIT: i found it for TX, from your post in ALL IN ONE, tnx a million, so just the only remaining question of mine is the second one, will it bring Bravia Engine back?

no problem
I believe there is a relock file for the TX as well.
As for bringing back Bravia, I don't think so, but it allows you to repair the phone in pccompanion

Hello nice people of this forum, I've just got myself an Xperia V, running 9.0.1.D.0.10, and is looking for a method to root it without unlocking the bootloader.
I've tried googling it and searching the forums but came back empty. Perhaps some nice person can help me.

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

Thanks so much for your quick responses.
So right now, we have no root access without unlocking the bootloader.
Hopefully the genius developers will come up with something soon. A little bothered by the bloatware from my provider.
Thanks guys,

Hi funiewski,
I have tried rooting by flashing that kernel but I don't seems to get root when I check with the root checker app. Would you be able to advise on this? I would have posted in that thread but apparently I don't have enough post count.

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Hey guys,
I'm extremely sorry for opening this thread.! Please forgive me. I posted my question in another thread but didn't get a reply. I am from India and I want to buy Xperia T (which hasn't officially launched in India) from eBay. I was worried about the official jelly bean update for the phone. As tge phone hasn't launched in India the eBay people are providing imported phones. I found a tutorial to manually update the phone here: http://android.sc/update-the-sony-x...o-official-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-firmware/
This is a flash tool method to flash the official 4.1.2 update only for Xperia T LT30p. I just want to know whether this method is COMPLETELY RISK FREE and there is NOT EVEN A SLIGHTEST CHANCE TO BROCK THE DEVICE BOUGHT FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD???? I want to know this as the Sony service centre in India won't even look at the phone if there is any problem! Please asure me of this flash tool method by taking a look at it and also,
can you please refer to this thread:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136173 and tell me what can cause this type of problems? The person who started this thread who has posted 'something' about Xperia T and he is from India! And he bought his phone from Germany! I tried searching the net for 'Xperia T India' but I couldn't find a thing. So I just want to be sure about the flash tool method mentioned in the above link. Has anyone done that before?

Then how do you suggest I update the phone safely and securely to the official jelly bean update? Or could you please give me a link to a thread where the question has been answered or to a safe tutorial to update the phone? I tried searching but I wasn't able to find anything that answers my question! And does this depend upon the region from where the phone is? Will I be able to update the phone using this method? Can anyone please help me with a detailed answer?! PLEASE!!
There is no 100% foolproof method, even the sony official method can ruin your phone if YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.
However, IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS it will work.
Just try it.

Thank you very much... I was just looking for some confirmation. But now I got to know that this flash tool method is as safe pc companion method(correct me if I am wrong) I am pretty good at following instructions and also I have a rooted, bootloader unlocked, swaped xperia x8 running CM10. I am just so worried because I'm 17 and hence I don' t earn a single penny myself and this xperia T should last me atleast for the next 3 years. Would you please give me confirmation once again just for my satisfaction and also some general advice you think is necessary before following the above method? Like region verification, build no., kernel & firmware version, etc
...Pleaseee?!!:fingers-crossed:

Yes, rest assured, it's totally risk-free, using flashtool and flashing STOCK roms and kernels is risk-free, provided that you carefully follow the instructions...
for the firmwares and kernels, regions and the rest, don't worry about these things, as you know, you can flash ANY GLOBAL firmware, whether it is for France or M.E. or Malaysia, so don't worry, just search and see what build number is the last firmware for your T, then flash it, and thanks to DoomLord, you can root it even you have locked bootloader, using his rootkit, so don't unlock the bootloader for now
wish you best of bests, bro

Yup.. I did give it a thought! But its out of my budget... or otherwise I would have bought a nexus 4 16GB! Though xperia T is nowhere near the nexus 4 in terms of looks and hardware but it looks much better than SP. Also the SP has just 5.8GB of usable internal storage.... I felt really sad that I can't buy nexus 4 as it costs 100USD more than Xperia T and SP costs 70USD more... But then I thought I'm just 17! Not everyone of my age is lucky enough to own such a phone.. Many of my aquiantances can't even operate a Galaxy Ace!

I am planning to upgrade from my current Xperia X10i to the Xperia Z1.
I was curious about the rooting process and things though. When the phone is rooted,
it allows your to add your on software right (like Astro File Manager or APKs not from the market)?
What is the bootloader for? Is it needed? I heard some people tell me that if you root the Z1 you lose the little
Sony things like the Bravia Engine and the camera. Is that so?
Thanks for your help.

You lose some functionality (When unlocking the bootloader, not when rooting) but camera works the same. Its all explained here
Also, I do suggest you do a lot of reading, from your questions it appears you are not an experienced user, so please read before doing anything to your new phone

No, you do NOT lose functionality just by rooting. Nothing at all.
You DO lose a bit of functionality by unlocking the bootloader. And some have reported that even though with an unlocked bootloader that while camera works, you lose the Bionz image processing. You also lose the Bravia engine.
As gregbradley said, you can root without unlocking the bootloader (usually). Rooting and bootloader unlocking are different things.

No worries, I know. So many people get the two confused as its treated as the same thing on other devices such as Samsung
Thanks for both of your answers.
I actually fully modded my X10i just by following directions and getting some guided help
from other great uses from this site. But that was ages ago and Sony's phones have changed a bit in their make up since the X10 days.
So I wanted to know exactly what was going on. I remember unlocking the bootloader for the X10 and losing the camera, but that was fixed (I long forgot how).
I wanted to know just what was going on with the newest generations of Xperias.
Thanks for your helps. It's much appreciated.
Dear All,
First i thank you for you huge contribution to human needs in this planet ! You Rock dear community.
I'm more a reader than a contributor in most forums, i usually find the answers only by searching other people posts, but this time i couldn't find an answer .
I have an Xperia Z1 C6903, Vodaphone (i guess from spain), running Kitkat 4.4.2 with latest firmware 14.3.A.0.757.
I was trying to root it, i red practically all the methods here in the forums & elsewhere, and there was always one step that i couldn't bypass : UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER.
I took my code from Sony website, i tried many methods in vain. In my Phone it shows of course : Bootloader unlocking allowed : NO
My question is very simple : Is there on earth (even on other planets i can take the trip) any method to unlock my bootloader ?
Thanking you All in advance, and apologizing if this question is already answered in another topic, i really couldn't find it.
Awaiting your Help Dear Community.
Best Regards,
NO! There is no way to unlock it, there is no way around. Sony will generate the Code from your IMEI anyway but if will not work. Do not even try on Earth to find a way because there is not.
There is absolutely no need to unlock the bootloader in order to root.
Which is good news for you because you cannot unlock anyway.
In order to get root on the latest firmware then you just need to follow the link in my signature

@gregbradley, excuse my question, but have you done this before on unlocked Z1 ? i mean will have full access to my phone ? (Install Super user, Titanium backup ... etc etc )
Thnaks Again.
once or twice
Just follow the 3 steps in the link
There is no need to unlock the bootloader, no need to backup TA partition (You only do that id you are unlocking the bootloader anyway), no need to use any dodgy rooting methods (Like Vroot etc)
Flash a 534 FTF
Install dual recovery
Flash a pre rooted rom
Takes about 10 minutes

Only, and for those reading this post, specially Xperia Z1 C6903 owners, for step one you have to pick a specific FTF file and not any FTF ending with 534, The only one working (and gaining you Root access later on the process) is FW 14.1.G.1.534
Although you are on a recent FW, don't worry, after accomplishing the other steps, you will be back to the latest one.
N.B i tried many of the FTF ending with 534, but it didn't work except for FW 14.1.G.1.534
Cheers.

The only difference I can think of is that with an unlocked bootloader you can flash custom ROMS, which can't be done otherwise.
Having said that, I would recommend Omnirom or CarbonRom, cm11 has a bug that drains battery on wifi.
