Somebody on here has a couple of jigs for like $15. I made one for about the same price. It's easy and necessary if you are going to flash and have a newer phone. It works every time.
Try this. Open the one click odin 3 (the jh6 stock rom version). Unplug the battery. Plug the usb cable in and press both volume buttons and the power button. Put the battery back in and as you do that release the power button but keep holding the volume.buttons. this should put you in download mode. Good luck.

it is possible for the screen to be black and still be in download mode, i had it happen, and reflashed via odin on a black screen, odin still saw the phone so i said what the hell and click start, it worked successfully. so try th meathod above and dont be discouraged if the screen is still black.
also re download the stock rom and odin downloader. it may have been a corrupt file that caused it.
if those dont work buy a jig. pain i know but what else can you do? do you have insurance?
This is an weird problem that I think is fairly rare. I freaked out when this happened. I was able to get all the colors of the rainbow to appear on my phone. It happened to me 4 or 5 times before I finally managed to flash to stock. I just pulled the battery sd and sim every time it happened and flashed again. The phone is not bricked just keep trying and it should work

So my dad picked up a Nexus 7 16GB about a month ago, and he didn't decide to root it or make any modifications to the system. He kept it in a case at all times, so i know its not a hardware problem, unless its the battery. We did open it up to check the battery, and it was all in place. The device will not boot, no matter what we do. When connected to the computer, it will not be recognized unless the power button is held for 10 seconds, and it will try to install an 'APX' driver. I looked into getting the universal naked driver for 'APX' but it installed it as a ASUS Transformer Prime. Im leaning towards sending it in to Google to get it fixed/replaced, but i wanted to know if there was anything I could do to fix this. All help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I tried that, and there is still nothing on the powerless screen.
Nothing shows up on the screen? Perhaps the LCD connector has become detached? Just a guess.
Call Google tell them it just stopped working and get a new one

Actually, this sounds exactly like a hardware problem.
Google is very good with defective product replacement you should be fine.

My power-up is very finicky. Keep tapping the power button. Do so holding down the button for various durations of time. You should be able to get the little guy to turn back on with patience. It took me about ten minutes worth of multiple attempts a few days ago.

Hey,
So I have had this phone for about 16 months. I have always loved it. It wasn't rooted or anything like that but I started having issues with it,
Such as, not being able to end a call, pick up, random reboots.
The phone will not power on at all it does however show the battery being charged at 100% when I plug in adapter.
I also cannot get my PC to recognize it, have tried on multiple computers.
Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
XDAn00b
PS
This my work and business cell so I need it up and running asap even if cost me a few dollars.
I have over 1000 documents/payroll/emails and highly sensitive info
So if you could help there would most certainly be compensated for your time. I don't even care if you remote into my PC. I just really need this or I will lose my job.
I am assuming you tried to pull the battery and wait and put it back again

Hi Cazey.
Take the battery out, replace it, hold volume down and power on. That should take you to the bootloader, a white screen with a few options on it, and probably 'locked' at the top if you haven't played around with custom ROMs yet.
If you can get that far, try selecting 'recovery' and doing a factory reset through there. Note you'll probably lose all the data on your internal memory. This is a bit of a last-ditch effort, so try any other suggestions first. I'm a PM away if you need anything further.
Justin
No...
If its locked its got HTC update recovery...
Maybe find the ruu and return it to stock for real...
Otherwise its a hardware issue...

OK...
Do you have an SD card... pull it out...
Remove and replace your sim card...
Maybe push on behind the sim card on the plastic...
Flex the phone a little length wise... A LITTLE
Then try again

Hi.
I have a HTC One silver 32GB from 8th April (Germany o2)
I unlocked Bootloader.
Rercovery on it.
Did backup of phone.
Flashed Trickdroid.
Deleted it and restored backup.
Thats what I did on begin of may.
Then after 2 weeks...
Was playing Real racing 3. Phone is as always hot. Battery must be like 50%
I put it on charger for 20 mins.
When I pull charger off. LED goes off as usual but phone does nothing anymore.
Can't enter bootloader. Can't start. Can't Soft reset. Nothing works. Booting to Bootloader via One-All-In-OIne Kit and USB Cable doesn't work since it can't detect phone.
Stupid company said that unlocking Bootloader voids warranty so..
What can I do? I will try to stop contract because there are European rules that in first 6 month they gotta do everything.
Ty for ur help.
EDIT: The repairing company did send me a pic of bootloader. Btw HOW did they get there?
Link here http://s7.directupload.net/images/130601/jegffwjh.jpg <---
try putting the phone under a bright light(dont cover light sensor with your finger) and hold power+volume down until it boots to bootloader
so... did it work?

If your phone won't turn on then how are they going to know it's been unlocked? Just send it back to them
R u in the UK?
PS: Just noticed your in Germany.
I can verify that the light trick works. Someone else on here said its because HTC wanted to prevent somebody from hitting those two buttons in their pocket and resetting the phone. So they make the phone be in a bright light in order for you to reset the phone in that manner

Outdoor light did not work for me. I had to hold the phone directly above a light bulb. As soon as I did that it booted right up and has been fine ever since. It went into the shut down mode you described as I was copying files to a USB drive via an OTG Cable.
Got the same issue... Light doesn't work (Tryed LED Flashlight normal Bulb or Halogen....) Last Try could be light from my car...

Hello all! i usually don't come over to this side of xda, i'm more of a Samsung guy lol
my friend gave me her nonworking HTC Vivid and told me to try and revive it for her. she said that the screen is broken, but i don't believe that's the case. every so often when i press the power button, the screen lights up (black), and when it's charging (as it is now), the screen is also lighting up (black) and the LED light is orange. any help would be appreciated
also as a side note: does anyone know if you can take out the SIM tray? just curious. thanks all
